|
With Halloween just over a month away, I wonder whether it's celebrated in Bon Bon. I can easily picture there being costume parties, but that's pretty much it. Aside from halloween themed parties(that probably lead to sex), I'm having trouble figuring out whether it's a holiday that'd be properly celebrated in Bon Bon.
I also wonder if Vanessa has any plans some kind of Halloween specia pinup or such. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

((I still have to say I'm plesantly happy with MLocks costuming of me in his halloween short-comic.
And I'm still amused by the idea of being a Mad Scientist with Camarilla as my "Igor".
But... I think this year I'd love to be an explorer... not something corny like Lara Croft. Something way more cool like Nathan Drake or Junior "Indiana" Jones.)) |

I like Halloween for scary stories, costumes, and, most importantly, CANDIES!
Last year, I was a pirates and a sexy ghost ( thank you to Mr. MLock. :3)
I think this Halloween I will go as...a Dark Angel. :3 |

All Hallows Eve (Halloween) is a custom a lot older then 200 years.
It is almost certainly three thousand years old perhaps more. It was/is the ancient Celtic festivial of the dead and rather then the "Fun" time it has become it was arather somber affair. Special food, perhaps a stew with the best cuts of meat, rather then rag ends. Also cakes, what our American friends would refer to as biscuits. A portion of this meal would be left at the open fire-side along a tankard of ale or beer and an empty place or chair.
This would be for the spirits of the families ancestors, whom the Celts believed came back once each year on this night to be with them.
When Christianity came to Celtic lands the new religion was superimposed over the old and Halloween became the night before All Saints day and something to be feared rather then venerated. _________________ Terminus: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=239198#239198

Mr. Dragonfly is right. Mr. MLock dressed my cameo as a ghost from his comic, "Scarlet's Halloween Tales."
Speaking of that, I wonder if Mr. MLock is planning to make another one. :3 |

Halloween for Samuel is actually a mixed pot. There is a level of disappointment in that he doesn't exactly have a lot of time to spend on his own costume. However, it is a busy time of year as the well-to-do bombard his shop with requests for costumes and a noted increase in business. |

That's what I've been getting as well from the reading I've been doing on this subject. I think it'd be okay to be a little historically inaccurate, though, as the Halloween theme is so popular, and it's fun to come up with ideas for different costumes. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

What better to celebrate Halloween here in PBB is telling scary stories. :3
We could have a thread for scary stories from what the PBB members heard from others or read from hard covers to online. :3 |

Interesting Chein is gonna have to skip that party as the Chinese believe it is the night Ancestors come back to haunt the living if they've been ignored. Typically in small pots around the house candies, play money, small cheap gifts are left outside to appease the spirits and buy favor with them so they in turn leave the household alone and return to rest. Also Special lanterns are placed around the house with sweet scents to better please the ghosts as they remember thier lives. There's more on this event but this is the gist in Chien's case sucks really not much to do on his end traditionally speaking of course . He still has some customs he keeps while he loves the europian lifestyle he's still chinese at heart (give him a few more years) |
