I think anime style would actually be better. The japanese art styles used there seem better suited towards this kind of story/ _________________

Yeah 2d full hand drawn seems the best, lol i almost thought
that cellshaded style was a good one, if it blends the 3d look to make it look like it's 2d. _________________ My Fursona http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=100410#100410

Actually, anime is rarely hand drawn anymore, although the more classic ones were done in that fashion, its mostly computarized now to make a higher tone of sleekness. _________________

i thought macs were for creative stuff like art and design while pc's are for more serious work like office stuff. hehe i suppose these days the only thing pc's have over macs is gaming power _________________ wondering where the jackal came from: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7940 updates here or there

the only reason pcs have more "gaming power" is becaues alot developers just want to slam out games as fast as possible with minimal effort so they can make a profit. Mac actually certifies the vast majority the programs that run on their systems. windows doesnt', hence bug issues on windows. _________________ My Fursona(updates occasionally) http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7537

I could rant on how much I hate Macs, but this isn't really the thread for that. I would love to do Samuel's voice for a cartoon, regardless of the style chosen. I think 2D would be better. |

If it were a cartoon, it'd have to be hand drawn in Vanessa's style, otherwise it's only "inspired by BonBon". _________________ http://harmlesslion.com |

I would choose 2D and I agree with Tursi, it would have to be drawn by Vanessa. No other would do. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

Well those Japanese animators are pretty good at copying styles and would do much of the heavy lifting. |

To be honest, it's rarely pretty when you take something 2D and then try to "upscale" it to 3D.
PBB is a pretty detailed comic so if you were to try to make it 3D, then it would require incredibly ornate wire models and then you'd have to skin them. Also, if you watch most 3-D animation, unless it's somebody like Pixar who has an entire staff working full time on animation, then things like water effects and such always looks incredibly bad.
As an aside, Japanese animation isn't technically hand-drawn anymore. They started going with digital animation, which is very different from the old days where artists had to hand-paint cels, about ten years ago. Now it's pretty much the standard. I think the last show to feature any kind of hand-drawn animation was Spirited Away. |

I'm trying to remember if it was the Spanish or the Italians that had to handle the underwater hair effects for "The Incredibles". My brother went into 3D drafting and design, if not some other similar major, and as such he paid special attention to the animator's commentary of the DVD. The idea of Edna's hand going through the hole in Bob's suit was absolutely absurd to the animators, but they managed to pull it off. In the long run, 3D has many more problems and details that can easily ruin the work if it isn't done on a majorly professional scale and that would be so expensive that you would need to have a pretty big payoff intended, i.e. a full-length movie. If anyone wants to see some examples of poorly coordinated 3D effects, peruse IMVU's catalog. Some of the products are either horribly textured or the meshes are #$%^ed up enough that it creates Z-fighting. And to think I was crazy enough to want to try to design 3d products for that site. |
