I dunno, I sort of saw the "Clan of the Claw/Talon" (which Simon and Red are part of) as more of a secret society than a cult. I suppose that's just splitting hairs, though...

No, Johnny, it's not. A secret society does not necassarily have any religious attachment. A cult does. That's the easiest way to differentiate between the two.
