They had only been walking for a few hours, enough time for the sun to begin to peak over the eastern mountains. The air was frigid, the grass along the road shined as every single blade was covered in the morning dew. The walk had been almost completely silent, getting to a point where it was nearly awkward. Brinn had mentioned earlier that once they got to the home of one of his informants, about a day's walk away, they'd be able to get a ride to their destination. Casidian had asked where their was. Brinn didn't answer.

As the sun had barely shown it's face over the mountains, the two reached a rather steep hill. They began to hear a low rumble as they got to the base. Casidian stopped, and curiously asked, "What is that?" Just as Brinn began to answer, at the top of the hill, a wagon sped into view and headed downwards. The wagon was going fast, too fast. Brinn gave a puzzled look and then stepped into the wagon's path. Casidian thought for sure the wagon would plow right through him, as it showed no sign of slowing down.

Brinn simply stood, a blank expression on his face. The speeding wagon hit the bottom of the hill, and then quickly, and seemingly unnaturally, halted a few feet in front of Brinn. The wagon driver whipped at his "motors." They refused to move. He stood up, noticing Brinn and Casidian. He began to yell for them to get out of the way. His face looked worried, and his voice cracked as he yelled. Casidian could tell something was wrong with him. Casidian stepped up, "Sir, what's wrong?"

"It's...It's the..the dae...the d..please just let me go, I have to get the message through to Pennyork."

"what message?" Brinn piped up, still standing at the front of the wagon.

"The daemons are retreating! Please! I have to go now!" The man
pleaded.

Brinn's eyes shot open wide, as did Casidian's. Brinn sidestepped out of the path of the wagon, and it immediately started up, jolting the driver backwards and charging down the road.

"What hell could possibly be going on?" Brinn said outloud. Casidian stuttered to speak, and Brinn cut him off, "come on, we can't waste any more time.

The two started up the hill, which they soon found out was much steeper than it appeared. "Maybe it isn't as bad as we think." Casidian said breaking the silence. "Listen kid, you're the big shot commander, I get it, but if you're going to be what they expect you to be, you have a lot of things to learn."

As they reached the peak of the hill, they both stopped, speechless. A storm, shooting lightning to the ground, stretched farther and higher than they could see. Purple and gray clouds swirled around the air. The sky was dim, and a silent, calm breeze blew by.

"Fuck" was all Brinn could whisper.

=The Wildlands of Southern Lordain=

HexPoint found himself in an emotional crisis many days after reaching the shoreline where he buried Godis' body. He fastened two of her deva feathers onto a ring he wore on his left ear. Even his carnivorous war plant Snappy cried into the night sky with him. His dreams were affecting him. Just this morning he awoke from another nightmare, and yet more - a vision. His powerful daemon 'mother' Idumea had taught him how to discern the magic signs to see beyond sight...

He was feral again in this dream, as were his old friends Katmir, Connie, and Tuscan. It was obviously them because their feral counterparts have normal colored pelts and do not run together in the wilderness. The blue deer outpaced the warthog, the fox, and the armadillo, chasing the stars. He heard their battlecries, and he roared too, galloping in a graceful circle to turn and help them in another of their many fights together. But he was startled by what he saw. A churning nastiness, like the dust cloud formed by the trampling of a rushing army whose wind spirits favored them in the night, had overcome his friends and swallowed them up. The blue deer held his ground, staring into the dark cloud beneath his deadly antlers, daring it to charge at him. What he saw next at first frightened him less than it struck him with sadness. His three friends bolted out of the seemingly paplable storm cloud with dead eyes and black whipping extremities where their legs and jaws should be. HexPoint backed away, sensing nothing of his friends inside their disfigured bodies, and ran for his life. He could feel them gaining speed, and the lashes cracking the air around him as he ran, back towards the stars, to the twilight...

The daemon woke up with a disturbing shout three nights in a row. He surveyed the stars and hoped that his old friends would have no regrets should the 'consuming darkness' overtake them. They only beleived in the pleasures of life, and making their own destinies, a terrible mistake in an age where fate was already forged for every fur in the world.

HexPoint drank the last of the water from a skin bottle that had belonged to Godis. He let out a deep sigh, seeing as she was still saving his life from... wherever she was. This was another reason for his internal turmoil. He had thought to face the darkness, the Shadows as the prophecies had named it, on its own grounds. He had killed, or murdered four furs for each of the elements in preparation of his master spell, the fifth kill having to be made in the next new moon. It was incredible to the blue daemon to realize he had never thought that his spirit-kill may just be himself... Remorse, repentance, rekindling... these were not things a daemon was thought to embrace. But for a scriptural legend of a living abomination in the Twilight of an Age, it was still true that devas could fall and daemons could ascend into each other's forms.

This bothered him greatly, now. On one hand, daemons and devas physically and instinctively represented the dark and the light. But on the other hand, the uniqueness of the individual meant that devas like the chaplain of Fort Oro could be murdering beasts, and daemons like his adoptive parents could be nurturing and allow him like many others to go into the world and do what comes naturally. And at this moment, when the loneliness is palpable, he knew the difference between furs and ferals. If death is not the end, then there were indeed consequences to face after death as Godis' celestial ghost showed him.

He had ignored the rumbling, and so was startled when a herd of Lordainian golden ostriches ran by. Snappy screeched. His terrible dream came to mind, and it frightened him for the first time since he left his ignorant friends that he needed to journey into the darkness ahead. Judging by the stars and times, he would be in a Cheneran region by the next full moon. That may be all the time that was left in the world. Without his book of scripture, he wasn't sure. HexPoint stood straight. He let the cool evening breeze send a rousing shiver through his body.

"Let's go, Snappy. Time waits for no one."

"trrrSNAPppurr..!", replied the flytrap monstroid, uprooting itself from the ground and skittering to its master's side on its leafy hind legs. He clasped the claws at the apex of his wings together beneath his chin and walked with his war pet towards the coast of this Lordainian peninsula. He needed a boat to get to Chenera before the Shadows engulfed the known world.

This is when HexPoint decided, with much regret in his heart, that his master spell had to be different from what he originally envisioned. He would not attempt to perfect the sword, but instead the shield.

=Holly Bay Inn, Port City of Holly Bay, Northwestern Coast of Aordaf=

The pink armadillo Connie woke up slowly, feeling warm and happy with her reynard Katmir huddled behind in bed. He snored lightly over her shoulder, his hand cupping her breast beneath the sheets. She rubbed one eye with her left hand then turned it to see the gleam in her engagement ring. There was a loud, coded knock on their door. "Tuscan, what is it?"

"Connie? Katmir? We need to leave now. There's a disturbance of immense proportions we need not be part of."

Katmir yawned and slid his hand down his betrothed's body. "Worrisome warthog... It's far too early for a crisis of any proportion."

"I've grabbed my sack and my drums and we need to leave now! Just look outside your window!"

Connie jumped out of bed first and opened the shutters. She gasped. "Is the entire city... evacuating?"

Katmir sneered at the panicked crowds. "It's a god-damned stampede! Someone piss of a hill golem or a dragon or somethin'?"

Tuscan broke down the door. "Dragons are extinct! We'll be too if we don't leave!"

Soon they were leaping from rooftop to rooftop as they would when escaping city guards in their illicit adventures. But this time was different. It was daytime, and their path was easier to travel than the crowded streets. The Port City of Holly Bay was being attacked by monstrous beings. They were overrun by their strange and powerful weapons from the southland and from the western sea. The trio had just leapt onto a moving wagon full of fragile wares just outside the city wall when an explosion struck the horse and cart right off the ground.

Katmir's ears twitched backwards, and his back ached. The fox landed so hard that he crushed his lute. The noise around him was unbearable, and he worried he was recovering much too slowly in the middle of a monster raid. "Connie! Connie! Tuscan!!" He turned, a sharp pain shot from the middle of his tail. It was broken. Despite it, the second he saw his beloved on the ground by the shattered cart, he ran towards her. "Connie! Answer me!" She opened her eyes as if waking from a deep sleep. Then she sat up and embraced him.

They heard Tuscan's feral-like squeal and looked over the broken cart. He threw his backpack away and held his heavy mace aloft. There were so many of the tar tentacled furs on the ground marching towards them. Even the skies were starting to darken with the winged ones, horrible spheres of black hurtling through to destroy whatever they fell upon. Katmir shouted at his muscled friend, "Fuck that, Tuscan! Let's go!"

"They're here too, my love!" exclaimed Connie when deva and daemon alike alighted on the ground, brandishing their awful weapons like nothing they'll ever see again.

From beneath his cloak, Katmir drew his tassled sabre. "It's strange, but I'm really missing HexPoint and his religious babble right now. I'm sorry about our seaside wedding, Sugartush. I love you."

"You know what I say," she replied, twirling her sickles. "... Don't fear the Reaper. I love you, too Stud-muffin."

They kissed passionately as Tuscan ran to their side. "I love you, too. Let's kick their tails."

Shouting thier battle cries, Katmir, Connie, and Tuscan charged the monsters.

Liu Lu had been sitting in her bed with a ever so smug grin on her face. When she heard the report that Veilen had been captured. This was great news, and she then had the men who where to carry her... or help her around as she liked to call it over to her side. Now as soon as the men where ready to carry her to her dressing room for departure she thought about it. Leaving could mean that she would be leaving her weapon vulnerable. Then she had a thought, perhaps she could alleviate the fears of the many other countries around her. By at least sending diplomatic envoys..... and at least putting a few more men into the defence of the weapon. So far the thing had been fully renovated, and was fully operational. They where able to use all the guns at once, and could shoot down any air born creature of any sort, or any land based army could be blown to pieces. Having Gu Xong come to her, and after a final *private* talk with him, she had him placed in charge of the 8 eye of Liu's defence. She would not be so eager to stay in her capital either. Though Liu Lu did request that anyone who wanted to fight must first be given the chance for talk... or at least a diplomatic option. Now there was tight security as well..... including the doors, every door was sealed by a spell, and some doors, well there where tons of them. The armor on every gun was so thick that no rock or incredible blast of energy could penetrate it. The door to every control room was pre war, and was heavily armored, as well as there where multiple doors. Now as for the way down to the main control room... or where Liu Lu had been only a few weeks ago. Well that was another matter, number one, it was a bunker in the center of the facility, very heavily guarded, by spear men and all sorts of guards. Now next, was the many doors with incredibly strong spells, not to mention the elevator, which can only be accessed by a magi... if you kill him the elevator will stop working... and you either have to find another way down... or restart the elevator using pre war tech. Then there are numerous guards down in the firing control room, with tons of magi, more than enough to kill even the most experienced magi master. After making sure all security measures where in place, she dressed in the seductive outfit she had been wearing for the past few days. Then set off back to the capital to recieve her new guest.

As she flew towards the west, Aline wondered to herself why she was flying this direction. It was like something in the spirit world had caught the interest of her subconscious just before she took off; her original intention was to fly to the mountains in the south. One of the neat things about being 400 years old was you learn things others believe couldn’t be done, Aline could continue flying using a part of her brain that controlled instinct while she used another part of her mind to dive into the spirit world and speak to her subconscious.

As she continued her flight she dove in finding herself floating in a world of nothing and yet everything, she knew where she was she had visited here many times to see her mother but this time she was here to see herself. Now in the spirit world she headed towards her cave finding her spirit world rep there, sunbathing in all her greatness it was like looking at a twin.

“Great memory, why was my path changed from my intentions?”

“You know why great action, someone wants to meet you and they came here to call you to them but the call was interrupted by your anger so…… I told you to go to them…..”

The knowledge dawned on Aline like a flash which also shoved her from the spirit world and back into her flying body, she looked down and spotted the Kingdom of Dells and knew she was almost there. She spiraled down to land just outside of the capital and transform she put on her dress and reproduced the decree that the King had given her. She walked of the gates of the Capitol and showed her decree to the guard at the gate he nodded his head and rang the bell which opened the doors.

“Welcome to the Capitol dragon kin”

Aline nodded at him and walked past into the City, she headed towards the nearest Inn and got a room to stay in. She would wait for the one that wants her; here in Deva territory where she has a decree saying she is who she says she is. Turning to the Inn keeper she asked him a question.

“Do you have a place of learning in this city?”

“Why yes Dragon Kin we have a university near the manor would you like directions?”

“Yes directions would be helpful”

The Inn keeper wrote upon a tablet or wood with a piece of coal showing a small map of the area between there and the manor.

“Here you go Ma’am I will have your room ready for you when you return”

“Just remove the bed and put cushions on the floor I do not like squeaky wood frames”

The Inn keeper smiled and nodded as Aline took the piece of wood and looked at it before leaving the Inn, she walked down the main street before turning left towards the University down a side street she looked up and saw it the tower was made of a jade to denote it as a place of learning.

Boredum besieged the Daemon Fox, his flying taking heavy drops at dangerous speeds and every few minutes or so, taking aim with his bow at anything that moved at a distance. Bastions of soldiers were less and less now, the seemingly once filled lines of the valleys and crevices now gathering dust and bandits. It has been a full day and not once has Maximillian killed anything.

"BAH!!! This is so BORING!!!"

Plummeting down once more, Strauss layed down on the grass, staring blankly into the azure skies. His right eye began to twitch uncontrollably, an annoyed expression marked on his face. So far, no soldiers were manning the lines, no innocents were out and about and worse yet, he didn't feel like royaly screwing someone. Things were going downhill for the Daemon indeed.

Warm flames crackled in the fireplace burning away the foggy damp outside. Multi-wick, apple-wax candles illuminated the room. The Scrape vanguard commander reclined in the overstuffed chair, as the sub-lieutenant stood in front of him. He had taken the office as his own. The artisanship of the desk and chairs said the room must have been an office of one of the senior monks of the cloistered abbey his unit had discovered. The office might have belonged to the Abbot himself.

The Scrape were once Rover's; however, changing times called for an evolving way to deal with the problems of the modern world. Something, the Rovers refused to do. Dissadents, political heretics, rebels, and seditionists had begun to crack away from the Rovers. And had started calling themselves the Scrape. Small companies, like his, had been sent in advance of the main movement. They were to scout for Rover libraries and colleges, disrupt Rover operations, and to gather intelligence on the local defenses and nations. The collection of buildings his unit had discovered was unexpected. It wasn't a Rover library, university or hospital, yet it possessed one of the largest libraries of books he had ever seen. The scholars and monks who defended the building to the last used a type of magic that he had not witnessed before. Armored guards protected the monks with fanatical zealotry. Yet all that didn't matter. Within the matter of several hours, the Scrape had annihilated the defenders, and now were systematically plundering the books.

Kicking his feet onto the desk, the Scrape commander asked "Tell me again what happened, and why you're not picking up books like I instructed?"

Shuffling under the gaze from the commander, the lieutenant replied, "Sir, we were about to finish off the last of the monks here, when he finished that spell of his. The ground before us began to shake and bubble, and… skeletons, Sir, just… started to claw their way out from the ground. Must have been about a company of them."

"Skeletons?" asked the commander raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, Sir. That's… the best way I can describe them. They were all bone and rusty armor and decayed gear."

"Skeletons?" again asked the commander mocking the reply.

"Y-yes, Sir. They weren't normal furs, and they weren't those big, armored, bodyguards the monks had. These… were like those skeleton-toy's you see on the Feast of the Dead day. But… fur-sized."

"I'm sure they were. And what happened next?"

"Well, Sir, we paused. Never saw anything like it, so… we paused. They… didn't move right. They… shambled and stumbled and… well… it was like watching a badly orchestrated marionette. They… kinda jerked and twitched forward towards us. So… we started laughing. The movements were so clumsy and predictable that they couldn't have hit a barn if they tried."

Raising his hand to stop the lieutenant, the Scrape commander pulled his feet off the desk, and took a large swig from the honeyed brandy he found in the desk. "Sorry, needed a drink to follow along as you tell me this Bard's Tale. Please continue."

"Well… then Victos gets this bright idea, and he leaves formation to meet these skeleton guys. They swung at him, and kicked at him, but their movements were so slow and awkward that Victos barely had to dodge any of them. He just kept laughing thinking it was so funny. So… then he grabs one, and breaks the spine of it. In fact, he just starts breaking all of them, like they were pine kindling. We laughed even harder as we heard everything snap like matchsticks… and then it got weird."

"How?"

"I… dunno, Sir. Victos was turning around to come back to join us, when Alphonse pointed behind him. Victos turned around, and... well… we all watched as those same skeletons just… well… put themselves back together. Victos thought it was the funniest thing ever, and he waded back into the skeletons to crush them again. And… each time he crushed one, a few seconds later, it would reassemble, and start towards him again."

"And, then you put these skeletons down permanently?"

"That's the thing, sir. We… couldn't."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean… well… Victos struck at them again and again, laughing as he watched them crumble, and we laughed along with him… but… they just… kinda put themselves back together and started shambling towards him again. Each time with that same, skin-less, smile on their face. After a few minutes, Victos stopped laughing. I could see he was beginning to get nervous about what was going on. I mean… he had waded into the middle of them, and… well… I think he knew he couldn't get out… and… well… they just… swarmed over him. I mean… yeah, their movements were predictable, but… they… just… overwhelmed him."

"So you're telling me those skeletons are still around, and that I've lost one of my Soldiers, and that your platoon just stood there and watched?"

"Well, Alphonse ended up killing the monk, and the skeletons quit getting up after that, but… not before those things had killed Victos."

The commander took a deep breath. Drumming his fingers on the desktop, he reached for the brandy again. Taking a deep swallow the Scrape commander said, "Well, war is a contact sport. We knew when we took the allegiance to the Scrape we'd get a bloody nose before it would be over. Thank you for your report, I'll take it under consideration. You are dismissed."

"You… you don't think we should tell higher?"

"Tell them what? That we lost ONE Scrape? That's stupid! Light above, I can shit a new Scrape. The Rover's are splitting faster than they realize, and recruits into the Scrape are beginning to flood in. Get back to work unloading those books. I want that vault emptied by nightfall tomorrow."

Snapping a salute, the lieutenant replied, "Y-Yes, sir."

Perspective of the Universe

Mordai knew walking he would miss the perfect opportunity to talk with the Dragon-Kin so he stopped for a second and then without making a noise or moving at all there was a popping sound as he vanished from sight in the blink of an eye. He waited for her inside the University silently walking through the rows and rows of books waiting for her to arrive. No one saw him; not even Fur’s that walked right past him…He wanted privacy for their talk, when the Dragon-Kin arrived so he focused on gradually and gently causing them all to move away from the area he knew she would come too. This did not force them to leave and his suggestions to their minds where as subtle as their own thoughts.

He had always loved the smell of books…the smell of dust and knowledge was still his favorite thing. He had been alive for longer then nearly every Fur could possible even imagine and he always made it a point to enjoy all the little things of life. Because it’s always the little things that make up the bigger thing; He saw a book that he knew the Dragon-Kin would want to read and he stopped and put a light spirit mark on the book as to call her attention too it. It was just a simple History book but it was the most accurate of all the ones around it.

He knew it would be a while before she arrived so he decided to use his time more constructively. He walked over to a stand of blank books where a group of scribes where writing out copies that others had bought. He saw an open chair and table and he seat down and with the move of his hand he created a simple leather bound book. He opened it to the blank first page and with a glowing in his large black eyes words began to forum on the pages. Within minutes the book was full and he closed it.

There was a title written across the front that read “Perspective of the Universe” It was about the idea of each person living in there own Universe that they create around them. It would not make sense to most who read it but it didn’t matter he liked to always make a contribution to a Metaverse when he arrived and this was one way too; but he knew before he left he would have a bigger impact then this book ever could. He stood with the book in his hand and he put it onto the self and continued to wait for the Dragon-Kin to arrive.

“So tell me Chen, what’s Queen Liu Lu like?”

Chen looked over at Vailen.

“She’s very beautiful, smart and brave. She’s united four of the greatest clans into one unifying force that will rival the world. She surounds herself with the greatest minds and magi in the lands. Her warriors are strong and is a match against any army from any nation. Lastly, she herself has a great power, one that would be the envy of the world and will bring her enemies to her knees. A powerful weapon that can bring down mountains. Heh course by now everyone will have heard of it.”

Chen was so full of himself and the Guards smiled coyly, wandering how Vailen would react to this knowledge, that they didn’t see Vailen halt Tazor after that last statement. Chen and the guards stopped and looked at him.

Vailen shook his head and sighed.

“So, she’s finally found it. Knew it would happen one day but we Rovers thought I would have been many decades later.”

He looked at the others as he slowly rode up to Chen.

“A weapon of such power that it could destroy a mountain, level cities and annihilate armies in one shot. A monstrous cannon about the size of a small mountain and one that take an enormous amount of power to use. If she used any type of magic to power it she’ll have a mark on her body to remind her that if she uses it again it will kill her.”

Chen and the Guards looked at Vailen in complete surprise.

“How... how do you know this?”

Vailen smiled and looked deeply into Chen’s eyes.

“I’m a Rover Chen. We Rovers have always known about the Mao Zedong Cannon and the ancient leader that it was named after.”

Before Chen could say anything Vailen held up his hand.

“I’ll not answer any more question about it. I believe the capital is just a few hours ride.”

Chen nodded and they continued on their way.

‘By the Gods, so it is true about their vast knowledge of the Forgotten Age. If the Rovers knew of this weapon then what else do they know? What weapons of great power are still out there to be found,’ Chen thought.

Several hours later they arrived at the gates of the Capital and word was sent to Liu Lu that they would be arriving at the Palace in a few hours.

****************************************************************************************************

Crystal sighed as she looked out the window. Though she yearned for Strauss to return she couldn’t stay here. At first she thought about climbing out of the tower but after seeing razor edges she knew it would be impossible. She sat down on the bed and decided to wait for Strauss to return.

****************************************************************************************************

Philip walked down a line of captured furs. Each one looking up at him, wandering what was it, where it came from and where was all its fur, scales or feathers. As he was reaching the end of the line he came across three individuals, two of them holding each other close. Philip looked at Katmir and Connie and cocked his head. When he spoke his voice was clear and perfect.

“Hmm, love, how strange. I’ve seen it do many things. Create bonds like none other. I’ve read it has caused wars. I’ve seen soldiers do incredible feats for those that they love. They say that love is in the heart.”

In one fast motion Philip drove his hand into Tuscan and pulled out his heart. The warthog fell dead as Philip studied the heart.

“How can love be from the heart. The heart is nothing but an organ, its purpose to pump blood throughout the body so that the body can live.”

Philip dropped the heart on the ground and looked at the two again.

“You two, will be the first of a new strain that I’ve created. Be proud that you’ll add in the destruction of all those that oppose the Republic.”

Philip nodded and Katmir and Connie were taken away. Several hours later they were taken into a building and strapped down onto some tables that slid down rollers. Katmir looked around and saw many furs where strapped down just like he was. There were screams of anguish being heard throughout the structure. Soon they were in this massive chamber and Katmir saw the horrors within. In stages he saw how furs where turned into Reavers.

The first stage a strange box came down and enveloped the fur. In a matter of seconds it would lift and the furs body would be mutilated. A strange slime covering them and keeping them alive. They then moved down to another area where they were covered again and in a short amount of time their bodies were sporting weapons coming out of their bodies. The last stage that he saw was the furs taken into some strange room. He couldn’t see what was in the room but could hear them scream. A door would open and a new Reaver would walk out. From beginning to end they would scream till the conversion was complete.

Katmir thought that this would be his fate till the rollers took him and Connie into another area. He called out to her and cried out his love before he was enveloped in darkness.

Six hours later...

General Casden looked at the map and grunted. He was ordered to hold for as long as possible till the Daemon Lords could prepare a proper defense.

‘How did it come to this,’ he thought.

The Daemon Jackal was so engrossed with the map he didn’t hear his tent being opened. He soon felt soft gentle hands on his shoulders. He quickly turned and was taken completely aback. Their in front of him was an extremely beautiful pink armadillo. She wore harem style clothing which showed all her curves. The cloth was so thin that he could almost see right through it. Her eyes were covered by a cloth. But that didn’t matter to him. Though he’ll punish the guards that let her in he wasn’t going to complain.

He leaned on the table, a bulge quickly forming in his pants. She smiled sweetly as she came to him. She reached down his pants and caressed him. He moaned in pleasure as she gently caressed her other hand over his neck and across his cheek. He embraced her and kissed her. She rapped her hands around him... and drove her talons into his back. He arched his back, unable to scream as he felt the venom slowly course through his body. His eyes began to cloud over as he felt the venom flowing through his body.

Several hours later Connie walked out and slowly made her way towards another tent. She turned as she heard the tent open. The female Jackal slowly walk out, her eyes covered by some cloth. It took a bit to make the cloths for her but it was enough. The former guards that stood by the former Generals tent were ready as well, their eyes completely black as they moved threw the camp, silently killing all in their path. From the distance fighting could be heard as a green fox charged the camp, leading a large army of Reavers. Katmir’s eye’s were black but unlike the other Reavers he had green pupils. This body was cut and weapons were not protruding out. Yet he was more deadlier then any Reaver as no one soldier could get a clear shot. While Katmir called out orders and attacked Connie and Casden moved on to another tent.

From a distance Philip smiled. The Warlord and Seducer project were a success. With the Warlord’s he would be able to spread quickly past the coast and his Seducers would convert soldiers into either Infiltrators, which would kill till they were caught, or till there brains imploded from the toxins. Or they would be made into Seducers. This was only the beginning.

"Well?...What the hell is that?" Casidian asked Brinn, who was standing silently just to his left. A small breeze swept past, making the tall grass on both sides of them sway. They were standing on a ridge, which served as a marker for the end of Erst's respective territory. The breeze rustled the fur of them both before picking up into a stronger gust.

"I don't have any clue," Brinn said quietly, "but we can't afford to waste time." Brinn, and Casidian alike, had become accustomed to the heavy rain storms that seemed to plague the lands around Pennyork's capital. This one was completely different though. It was not the wet season, and the color was one that neither of them had seen before. Another eerily calm breeze swept over them.

"This doesn't seem right...not at all" Casidian said, having not once taken his eyes off of the swirling clouds.

Brinn scoffed and looked at Casidian with a smirk. "What, are you SCARED to go through it? I thought you were the big-shot, fearless commander of the 17th, not some little field mouse!"

Casidian frowned and turned to Brinn, "Yeah, well there's a difference between being brave and being an fool."

"Really? I didn't know" Brinn said with a smile, "or maybe they're the same thing." He began to walk down the backside of the ridge, "Now, come on, there's also a difference between being Emperor and a conquered slave. I have a feeling that pertains more to you."

Desca lead his sister through the crowded center of town, hoping to get supplies before the big storm reported to hit later that day arrived. This seemed to be the plan of everyone else in Erst also, as the streets were completely filled. Vendors were prospering over the mad scramble and there was no end in sight, as some lines stretched the entire length of the main street.

Just as Anastasia was pointing out an open vendor, a low rumble shut her up. Desca heard it too, and they both began to turn their heads, looking for the source. The rumble got louder, and louder, until a wagon charging down main street pulled into view. People began to run and dive out of the way of the speeding wagon. Desca quickly pulled his sister behind one of the vendor carts as the wagon sped towards the capitol building. Desca and Anastasia slowly stood from their hiding spot just in time to see the wagon skid to a halt in the middle of the square. The driver, now being assaulted by many profanities and objects, jumped from his seat and ran full speed into the capitol building.

The hooded figure sat on one of the stools in the town tavern. Rain pattered on the ceiling as he slipped off his wet gloves. He kept his hood up, and turned his eyes to the bar keep, who was giving him a bit of an odd stare at this point. The man stared into young rabbit bar keep's eyes. Her eyes widened slightly, and without a word, she spun and began furiously making a drink. Almost robotically, she finished and placed it in front of the mysterious man. Only one sip in, he was interrupted by a very drunk bear. The bear pushed at him, saying, "Hey..you..give me..give me money to buy an..another drink."

The man ignored him and took another sip of his own drink. The bear pushed him again. "Hey! I'm..I'm talking to you." He swayed a little, but regained his balance. The bear pushed him a third time, harder than the last two. The man closed his eyes, and the bear coughed, then coughed again, then two more times. He started to choke, and grabbed at his throat. Coughing and gasping for air, the bear backed up, falling over one of the stools. He rolled on the ground, choking for air, before he fell silent, and stopped moving. People in the tavern, who only watched in fright as he choked, walked over to his now-still body. He was gone. The man took another sip.

Liu Lu, after another long and boring ride, descended out of her carriage with the assistance of her guards. Looking around with a sigh she then slowly made her way back to her throne room, where she sat on the seat of power which she now had. Though she seemed to brim with more a air of confidence than before. A smug grin on her face, all she could think was how she had been blessed with such remarkable luck. The luck to find the weapon of weapons, the very thing that would make the world bow before her. Then she heard Vailen was waiting to be allowed entry along with Chen, the agent who had found him. She grinned happily.

"Well, what are you waiting for, bring them in. Vailen is our guest is he not?"

She sat back in her chair, feeling ever so clever. Though she knew Vailen was a fur of intelligence.... a intelligence which as she had heard from her many spies. Was to great to exceed that of a average fur. Though she had many questions to ask him, and many ting to propose to him. Things she hoped that his majesty the Prince would accept. Of course... all in good time, she crossed her legs and took a deep breath, the swirls of her seductive clothing about her. Thinking she did not expect the Prince to so easily be taken by her beauty, but she expected the Prince to show a high level of respect. He was a Prince after all, and knew the manners that came with being one.

=On a southeastern peninsula of Lordain=

HexPoint sat at the base of an apricot tree, blossoms popping out at the first rays of sunlight. He woke up crying from a nightmare of a vision. He had many regrets now about his journey, especially about being so cryptic with his furiends about the prophecies of these times... the Twilight of an Age. Had he not been so selfish, so power hungry, so bent on meeting the darkness in its own shadow... But it was in the night, and when he closed his eyes in slumber that he saw the truth. The horrors of old. And the fate of the ignorant..? No. The destiny of the uninformed.

"t-t-t-trrrSNAP!", cried his war pet, nudging his daemon master in an empathetic way with his petaled head.

"Th-they're dead... All my friends... they died. Because of... of... " The daemon caribou was choking on his own words. The natural instinct to kill was in conflict with his telestial conscience. He had always known the difference between right and wrong as he was taught by his daemon "parents" Mother Idumea the War Mage, and Father Peleg the Knight of Black. However, something about Katmir, Connie, and Tuscan's personalities stuck inside him - and that hurt like a poisoned blade in his chest. He questioned his role in Aordaf as a mage-knight, and the murderous spree he undertook to gain a powerful magic weapon that could pierce both the dark and the light. Now that his firends had been killed by the monsters the ancients had warned future generations about... this very generation... he hated himself for doing the same to others.

"The monsters... I did it, Snappy... I tried to tell them... I... know. I... No, I didn't try at all. I could've been preachy. Convinced them to come with me... I... I don't know. What have I done?"

HexPoint could almost hear their sweet voices when they sung in harmony. When they were just friends, minstrels looking for fun when they weren't seeking dangerous thrills in the night. He thought of mighty Tuscan and his hearty laugh, how his drum playing made his own heart beat faster. HexPoint's smile wavered for mere seconds when he remembered the special illusion spell Katmir requested he cast on their beachside wedding. He flew into the air with a daemonic growl, unsheathing his coral sword. Seething and wailing, the blue daemon chopped, hacked and slashed the resplendent apricot tree for mocking his pain with its fresh green leaves...

"Katmir..!"

... It's strong resilient stance...

"Tuscan..!"

... It's perfumed flowers and delicious fruit...

"Aaah!! Connie..! Connie..! No! I've killed you..! I've killed you..! Aaah!!" he screamed in horror, catching a glimpse of a familiar pair of deva eyes in the tree he was destroying then bashing his jaw upon a whipping branch. HexPoint fell down through the tree, his rage and despair abated by a simple hit, antlers and daemon wings scraping his descent to the ground. HexPoint knew he was going to fall and his eyes closed. He did not want to see the darkness anymore. But there he was... engulfed just as he had wished in the beginning.

He remembered his intent from the start. "I will be damned."

A whimper escaped his snout before lost consciousness.

Aline used her magic to turn the wood plank map into wood plank list of books she wanted to read, mostly were on the history of the last 400 years. She has been secluded to her mountain home and did not know what the world around her was doing.

Entering the university she walked towards the library she was greeted by many of the occupants she was a curiosity, word had traveled throughout the city that she was a dragon-kin and the scholars were the most interested in her.

She entered the library and walked to the history section many of the books there were old but rebound in new leather she reached out and just grabbed the first book that her hand came to and took it to the little reading table with a reading lamp beside it. She sat down and cracked open the book to start reading, her mind lost in concentration as she read this book that seemed very detailed.

As Mordai felt the Dragoness walk into the Library he simple stood making his way closer to her; he sees her pick up a book and begins to read...He would let her read for a while before interrupting her. After all he enjoyed a good book now and again.

Aline was almost finished with the book when she felt someone nearby looking at her, lifting her head she looked around for the person. No one was there to be seen as Mordai has moved around her to the other side and looked down at the book she read as he sat down next to her.
Mordai Spoke to her

“I'm surprised a Dragon does not have a private collection of books....”

Aline was hardly startled as she turned her head to look at him.

“I do have a collection of books but they are from before my time when my kin roamed the skies free of the deamons, devas, and the rovers”

The tone of her voice was angered and full of distain when she named off the three factions, she looked at him summing up what he was by his appearance. Mordai looked at the Dragoness hearing the tone in her voice and knowing all too well the reason for it.

“ The Ignorance of all three of them makes me sick; they are so blind and seem to have little regard for life in the long run of things....”

His large black eyes seemed to not be looking in any direction and it was hard to know where he was truly looking. Aline snorted in response and turned her head back down to finish her book.

“Is there a reason you’ve gone to the great trouble of plane shifting just to see me …and why you put a attraction spell on this book in my hands?”

“I am Mordai. And I have come to speak with you...There are things I cannot tell you but I can say I am here to help you...All of you...”

Aline looked at him another snort escaping her, as she shook her head with frustration.

“And the book… Lord death?”

“Well I knew you needed to refresh your knowledge of Current events…so I helped you along...”

“Well I would like to read in peace if you don’t mind ….either you read also or we meet at the inn after I’m finished”

She responded closing the book and reaching for another that was sitting near the edge of the table.

“I have already read all the books in here...so for now I will leave you in peace to read."

And with that he vanished with only the light whoosh of air, the room seemed to get brighter and the noise around could be heard clearly; as he had been blocking the surroundings to make sure no one interrupted them.

Aline sighed and went back to reading the books around her she read quickly and was done with the section she was in by the time the sun was starting to go down and the library was closing down to the public, she rose and left the university heading back down the street towards the Inn taking a slightly different path then she came.

"Nice night for a walk."

A voice suddenly said a jackal stepped out of the shadows behind Aline, a short but shiny dirk in his hand.

"You don't look like you have many valuables on you, but I'm sure we can come to a... agreement."

The jackal, a devilish glint in his yellow eyes, advanced forward slowly. He'd already undressed the purple beauty with his mind, and now he intended to do it for real.

“I will not comply with anything you have in mind and I suggest you turn around and leave while you still have the ability to do so”

She said in a commanding voice squaring off her shoulders she couldn’t transform safely in the alley but that wasn’t her only defense, the air around them grew hotter till it was as hot as a mid summers day. The jackal smiled a wicked smile as he gradually took another step closer.

"Come now. There's no need for violence."

He said, his eyes darting around, quickly seeking out the easiest way to strip the beauty of her clothing. Aline’s fingers twitched at her side and it got even hotter in the alley, the dirt under their feet was warming up till it was like standing in the middle of a desert.

“If you don’t want to become completely incapable of doing anything for yourself for the rest of your natural life you had better step away Jackel.”

She said with a deep rumbling under her breath like the building of a storm was just behind her ribs. The increase in temperature began to unnerve the Jackal. But Aline's curves were hypnotizing. Driven by lust the yellow eyed male stepped closer, his eyes hungrily staring at the dragon's ample breasts. Suddenly, quickly, the jackal lunged forward, slashing at Aline's dress across her chest with his blade.

Aline’s dress was cut and the knife drew a thin red line across her chest between her breasts the smell of her own blood set her into a rage, she raised her hands splayed towards him and the Jackal burst into flames. Her dress was not unaffected by the fire and disappeared leaving her standing there naked with a burring heap of Jackal at her feet, Kneeling she put a hand over his body and murmured a healing spell to keep him alive and heal his burn but leaving him badly scarred and furless.

“Let that be a lesson to you the next time if you’re ever able to do much more then crawl on your belly like a snake”

Wiggling her fingers she remade her dress and walked past him out of the alley towards the main street where she could see the Inn in plain sight.

The jackal lay on the ground. His mind reeled as it tried to comprehend what had just happened. Fear and surprised mixed together. Brief a brief instant, the jackal had glimpsed her naked form, and then searing pain had consumed his mind. As he lay looking up at the sky, he realized that he was still alive. Moving proved painful, though the pain was minor, little more than an echo as his body remembered being burned. Slinking away into the darkness, the vision of the naked, purple beauty taunted and haunted the jackal as he limped through the darkness.

Finally, after many long hours, the Daemon murderer had fallen asleep. With a light snore and layed back position atop the moss of a log, nothing could disturb the Fox at all. That is, unless someone was stupid enough to get near him. The sun swayed atop the clouds, the silence was deafening and not a creature stirred. One had to wonder what could a sociopathic murderer like Strauss would dream, let alone what swirled in that psychotic mind.

Many more hours passed and day gave to night, the sounds of distant predators and scavenging pray being audible at a distance. Finally, the silence of the clearing was broken by a familiar pair of dragonic wings. A bat arrived without any hesitation whatever and strode towards the sleeping fox. Wether he was foolhardy, stupid or brave was unknown as with no fear he shook the sleeping body.

"Grrrrah......let me sleep for a few more hours."
"Sorry Master Strauss. I have an important message from the Daemon council."
"Wha......?"

The morbid figure just slumped over by the side and comically fell on the floor, facefirst.

"Ack!............bah, there goes my sleep. What's the message?"

With a quick hop and a dust of his body with one hand, his crimson red eyes looked foward with the same childish smile.

"Sorry, sir. This is of the highest importance and the Council needs your help."
"Those cowards? Them damned diplomats who always wanna screw me over? What kind of beef they wanna pick with me?"

For the first time in years, Strauss got serious. His tone deepened, his smile faded, his childish nature taken back to show the powerful daemon beneath.

"It is better to allow them to do the talking."

The messenger bat looked in a hidden rucksack on his back for a few seconds before pulling out a wolf skull. Wolf furries were more than abudant and so, Wolf skulls were some of the most used around. The hollowed eye sockets slowly proceeded to glow and before them, the skull vanished. In it's stead, a pentagram was set on the floor and before it, a council of five stood. All of them wore blackened hoods, thus discerning their species and sexuality was hard enough at a glance, but their daemon wings were evident, some of the group even flexing them. And out of them all, the one in the middle walked foward, the arms around it bent on the back.

"You.....you are that pain in our asses, Maximillian Strauss."
"Glad to see I'm doing my job! So what brings such a humble and mighty figure to a lowly murderer as myself?"

His tone was mocking once more, making a distinct anger audible in the voice of the now noted male.

"Mock us as you wish, but we have a proposition for you."
"A proposition, you say?"
"Yes, a proposition. I'm certain you've heard the rumors of strange creatures on the southern borders of our lands, waging war against our enemies and allies alike, yes?"
"All I've heard is that those creepy bastards have arms for limbs, are plentiful and are hard to kill."
"Then you are well informed. Well, I have saddening news. We are losing our southern fronts and as such, we have taken into consideration forging a dangerous, temporary alliance with our sworn enemies, the devas."
".....so?"
"We also have need of all the help we can get and as much as we hate to say it....you are amongst the best we have. We would like to appoint you officially as a high ranking official in the Daemon Military ranks."
"..........Me? In the Daemon Army!? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!"

All he could do was laugh. For them to be so screwed over and unable to do a thing to request the aid of this man. It meant things were bad, badder than bad.

"We are in desperate need of assistance."
"Well? What do I get out of this?"
"We've expected such a behavious from you, rather than doing this out of pride and goodness for your own kin. We have prepared a substantial offering fit for a king, along with patches of land and women to sate your desires."
"Money, women and land? Bah, I grow tired of trivial things."
".....then what is it you want from us?"
"Power."
"......that is arcane knowledge unknown to us even. We cannot allow such an endeavour."
"Then I guess I can't help."

Whoever this male was, he winced in pain. To be held by the balls in such a manner was just insulting and they were getting desperate. Seconds and passed and finally the silence was broken.

"Very well....a high ranking person in the military and power of the forbidden kind. I believe we may be able to forge a deal, at the cost that you, follow our every command."
"....I think I can bend some of my laws for a while, but I cannot follow EVERY command. I mean, I'll accept, yes, but there are some things I must do before going."
"We shall give you a full day before appointing you to the frontlines."
"And what about the 'book'....?"
".....it will take time, but we shall send for it."
"Perfect! Then we have a deal!"

With their eerie conversation finished and a blinding flash of light afterwards, the council dissapeared from sight. The messenger turned around and was prepared to take flight, but before he launched upwards, Strauss stopped him.

"Before you go....mind doing me a favor?"
"What do you need, Master?"
"There's a girl up in my tower, who happens to be both a Lunar Priestess and the princess of said empire. I need you to bring her to me at the frontlines when you can. When you reach her, you may do with her as you wish."
"I understand, sire.....I shall try not to enjoy myself too much."
"THAT'S what I wanted to hear. Now, off on your way."

Just what could be going on with these daemons?

"RUN!"

The command could not have been any clearer. Thousands of boots had churned the ground into a sloppy mud that sucked at everything. Sweat stung at his eyes. All he could hear was the pumping of blood in his ears. The defense had become a complete rout. Soldiers, mercenaries, armed civilians, everyone fled in utter disarray. Once those things had breached the Deacon line, they poured in like a flood. No one expected those things to move as quickly as they did. They came like unholy locusts, cutting down anything in their way. But he was a Knight of the Golden Sun. Running was no longer a part of his vocabulary.

Sheathing his sword, he slung his shield over his back. Picking up a crossbow that one of the freelancers had discarded, he leveled the weapon and aimed down the fletching of the bolt. He fired it, the kick of the string causing the weapon to buck. The heavy crossbow was designed to punch through a fully armored knight. He watched at it hit one of those things square in the chest, barely stunning the feral beast. Chucking the crossbow, he un-slung his shield and drew his blade. His charge was short lived, as the beast crushed its inhuman cleaver into his jaw, knocking him backwards into the mud. He gasped for air as the sensation of drowning overtook him. His vision blurred, yet he could still see the horrific shilowet of the monster that knocked him down. The thing loped past his fallen form, charging past his fallen form.

Painfully his breath returned to him. As he lay in the cold mud, the knight fumbled around with his hand to search for the hilt of his sword. A crushing, burning pain struck down on his wrist. He strained his neck to turn to see what had stepped on him. Eyes inflamed from sting and sweat wouldn't focus, but he saw the unmistakable plumage of a Rover. The Rover looked down on him grinning like a cat. "Any last words, Knight?"

Pinned against the ground, the Knight was still defiant. He spat at the Rover, "I swear, I'll find a way to destroy those things. If it takes me a thousand lifetimes."

***** ***** ***** *****

He could not tell how long he slept. But the voice came from everywhere and nowhere. "Beware of what you swear. Promises have an odd way of catching up to you."

***** ***** ***** *****

"Malinkov, One asked you a question. One does not like repeating oneself."

Malinkov was back in Caroline's room again. The clock on the mantle softly ticked away the seconds. Looking around, he realized it was late into the evening. "Your forgiveness, Mistress. I did not hear the question."

"You're acting odd, Malinkov."

"Again, your forgiveness. An… odd memory floated to the surface."

Putting her pen down the necromagus asked, "What sort of memory?"

Malinkov fidgeted with his porcelain mask for a moment. "I… cannot remember. Some sort of event. Some… something terrible."

"You certainly are an oddity, Malinkov. Strange hands… no tailbones… and now visions of the past. What are you?"

"I… I do not remember, Mistress."

"What do you remember?"

Malinkov touched the crack on his helm and replied, "That whatever caused this was something straight out of a nightmare. Is the name 'reaver' familiar to you?"

Caroline looked up from her desk at Malinkov. "No… why?"

"Something… something about that words means something, Mistress. Something… dark. Something… related to the Rovers."

"Each day, you make yourself more interesting, Malinkov."

As they made their way through the city the people couldn’t help but look at Vailen and is Eldar Frost Wolf. None had ever seen a Frost Wolf before let alone a Prince riding one. Vailen smiled as he saw their reactions. Suddenly a young red panda girl ran out chasing a ball. This caught one of the guards horse off guard and it reared up in surprise. As it came down its hooves almost landed on top of the girl. Instead it landed on firm ground. The crowd just gasped as Vailen quickly used a speed spell and jumped off Tazor and swept the girl into his arms into his arms and out of harms way. She looked up at Vailen, tears rolling down her eyes and embraced him. The girls mother quickly ran out and apologized. Vailen just smiled as he hand her daughter over to her.

“It’s alright, no one was hurt.”

He reached down and then handed the girl her ball. The mother thanked Vailen before he and the guards moved on towards the Palace.

‘I see he knows magic. Gods, I’ve underestimated this young wolf. First his knowledge of the cannon and now this. If he can teleport a young girl out of harms way then what else can he do? I’ve heard he’s also a good fighter. This is a very deadly combination,’ thought Chen.

It took them about thirty minutes to arrive at the Palace. A young tiger came out to take Tazor into the stables only to back off when Tazor growled. Vailen chuckled and shook his head.

“Sorry but only I can handle him. Besides it might not be a good idea to put him in with a bunch of horses, he might get hungry.”

Vailen saw a small patch of trees. He got off Tazor and whispered into his ear. Tazor nuzzled Vailen and headed over to the trees where he laid down.

Chen shook his head at what he just saw.

‘Our arrogance knows no bounds. We just shrugged off the thought that the Lunarians could speak with the Frost Wolves, thinking it only a myth. Now... if we had any plans of taking over Lunar we better rethink our strategy. If Vailen can do all this, what is the rest of his family capable of,’ thought Chen as he dismounted and handed his horse over to the stable hands.

The guards took their leave and Vailen and Chen ascended the steps into the Palace. After a few minutes they arrived at the throne room. As they approached the throne Vailen saw Liu Lu for the first time.

‘So this is Liu Lu. She’s very beautiful and that dress... not the type a queen should be wearing but to each their own. Though I’m not complaining about the view,’ he thought.

When they reached the foot of the throne both Vailen and Chen bowed. Chen stood straight and called out to Liu Lu.

“Your highness may I present Prince Vailen of Lunar, youngest son of Orden and Tala the rulers of Lunar, Rover and...”

Vailen silently sighed at Chen and shook his head.

‘I hate titles,’ he thought.

Once Chen finished Vailen straightened up and looked at Liu Lu.

“Your highness, it is an honor to meet you. Chen hear has told me much about you but seeing you for the first time... well lets just say his description of you was a gross understatement. In my country there is a certain flower, one that grows in the high mountains. The Winter Rose as we call it. A sturdy plant that can survive the harshest climates.”

Vailen cupped his hands in front of him and blew over them. Suddenly, blue roses gently flowed out of his hands and gently swirled round Liu Lu, one of them landing on her hair perfectly. Vailen smiled at the stunned expression on the queens face.

“As beautiful as you are, your highness.”

Chen was impressed at what he thought was a clever illusion. But when he saw the rose gently land on Liu Lu’s head he reached out and gently grabbed one of the roses and took a sniff. His eye’s shot wide open. When he was in Lunar he sniffed the blue Winter Rose before. The smell was crisp and clean, almost like a gentle winter. They only grew in a few parts of Lunar. He looked as his queen and shook his head, completely bewildered.

‘First his knowledge of the cannon, then his magical abilities and now this! What else is he capable of,’ Chen thought.

Crystal sighed as she waited. She wandered around the tower a little bit seeing what she could see. After a bit she heard some noise and heard the front door open. Thinking it was Strauss she ran to the door... only to see a bat looking at her.

“Well, well, master Strauss said you would be here but he didn’t say you would be beautiful. He also said I should have my way with you before I bring you to him.”

Crystal was caught completely by surprise by his comments. She was also a little heart broken when the bat told her that Strauss could do as he wished to her. Though she wasn’t completely surprised.

‘I should have known, I didn’t want to though,’ she thought.

When the bat touched her she lashed out on him. Though she wasn’t powerful enough to use the the Lunar Whip she could still summon up a lesser weapon. The bat looked up in horror as she summoned a green thorn whip.

“Do with me as you please! I think not!”

For the next half hour all that could be heard was the crack of the whip and screams of pain. Once finished Crystal and the bat stepped out of the tower. The bat had welts all over his face and one of his eyes had swollen shut.

“Humpf that’ll teach you a lesson...”

Before she could finish there came an evil laugh. Both she and the bat turned to see a large Bore Daemon laughing. Around him was a platoon of guards.

“Well that is rich. So the little Princess can summon some toys. How nice!”

He turned to the bat.

“I’ll be taking the little lady with me. You can tell Strauss that if he wants her back he’ll have to pay me a nice ransom... if he can afford it.”

He nodded to his guards and they entered the tower. Once gone he stepped forward and bowed.

“Allow me to introduce myself. I am Lord Cornair and you my dear are now my honored guest.”

Minutes later Cornair, Crystal, and guards left. It would take a few hours for them to reach Cornair’s fortress.

The bat looked up at the smoke coming out of the tower as the fire that the guards set began to quickly engulf the place from the inside out.

‘He’s going to kill me when I bring him the news,’ thought the bat as he limped away.

****************************************************************************************************

South of Cornair’s fortress a skunk was looking through a spy glass. As he lowered it his black and green pupil eyes looked back and nodded. Philip smiled as the Reavers slowly moved into position. He decided to get involved with this raid to see how his Overlords worked away from the main force. It would take about a day for the force to get into position and attack but it would be eventful. He heard a light gurgling growl and looked back smiling. He started a new project not to long ago and was pleased with the results. It just needed to be field tested. He looked back at the fortress.

‘What better test then those walls,’ he thought.

HexPoint's New Journal, Entry Three;

I have been much too sad to fly along the southeastern coast of Lordain towards Chenera. The Wildlands were as savage as I had heard of. The beasts that dwell there are immense and terrible to behold. I almost lost my war pet Snappy to a gaggle of ferocious... beaked lizard things. They were feral if anything. Where we came to rest at the end of that jaunt were the ruins of an ancient daeva city called Azad. I was fortunate to discover a most finely crafted shield there. When the New Moon rises, it will be the focal point of my master spell.

I have tried to warn those I meet along the way of the prophesied Shadows of Twilight, especially in the Lordainian City of Stanistan. It's really a small hedonistic town ruled by a plump rat named King Stan. They were quite friendly and liberal with their hospitality. Katmir and Connie would've loved this place. Tuscan especially, as the women are... This is ludicrous.

HexPoint's New Journal, Entry Six;

I have been met with feigned understanding and disdain by King Stan and his Court concerning the Twilight of an Age. They argued with the semantics of the prophecies and basically told me to "... eat, drink, and make merry - for tomorrow we die!" I suppose then, after much thought, that perhaps it would be best for the ignorant to remain so. Even though I can feel in my morbid heart that my furiends had only a minimal comfort in that their particular demise wasn't unforseen.

Curse the Gods! Too many people have died! The ancient extinction agenda continues! Where is the King of Daemons and his mighty host? Where is the Queen of Daevas and her infallible wisdom? The immortal stars speak louder than their audacious crowns against them! For shall not even the gods among us die alone in the shadows? Yes, they will! Yes, they will!

When my sword hand was thick from the battle; when my hooves trampled the broken bodies; when my antlers dripped blood on my wings - I was not ignorant! I learned these prophets and the oracles and the sages and the witches before our daemon kind ruled the world. I was a true mage-knight and I know that their foresight cold not be kept separated. But alas, my knowledge and my warnings fell on deaf ears. It is far too late for the many, as was foretold.

Now is the time of our final contempt towards this dire and secret history! And I write this down in that hope that is precariously close to doubt, that you the reader will cast aside your perception of reality for one mere moment in time... and heed my revelation:

The two iron gauntlets will be forged into one. The dark sword shall illuminate the world's scar. Mundane fur will transcend into star silver. She whose limbs shatter mountains and she whose back scrapes the sun will sup together among their bones. The ancient of ancients know us as well as we know them - and that is either death or sleep.

There is more, far more concerning the Few, but I will not put it down here until the New Moon rises; and that cannot be until I cross into Chenera. King Stan has been merciful and given me a ride across the waters on his fantastic two whale sea carriage. It cannot be called a boat. It will take me to Sumatranus, where they at times trade with the immense phan peoples in short order. I am told that they have an ever faster means of travel through the air. I wonder what manner of chariot could possibly carry elephants with such speed?

Destiny awaits us.

Liu Lu looked down on him with a smile, reading his facial expressions like a book. Though all she did was grin, and as the rose he created fell on her forehead, she smiled, and lifted her arm and picked it up from her hair. Then she looked at Chen.

"Yes... you are right to recognize this man as a powerful one."

She lifted the rose to her nose and breathed in the scent. Then looking down on Veilen with her lustful eyes she smiled.

"For I know his strength and power as well, I can see it."

She rose from her seat, and with all her strength glided down the steps gracefully towards him. Her robes and clothing flowing behind her like a silver wind.

"I figure a average Prince would rather live in solitude in his castle counting his coins, and doing... Princely things... or what have you."

She smiled

" Though... you a very powerful Prince... you run away, now the foolish, or the average lot perhaps might call it a simple act of rebellion, however. I saw more than that, now I had no idea you where a Rover, That the most came as a surprise to me. However I most certainly did see you as... a interest if you where to call it that. Something other than average."

She then turned to Chen, and to many of the attendants.

"If you will leave us alone for now, I wish to speak to our guest, alone. Chen wait outside the door, with your guards please.... you know what to do if anything gets... unsettling."

Liu Lu then nodded, and turned back to Veilen. Licking her lips she looked at him deeply.

"There is a very... pressing matter I need your help with, and if your wondering, no it does not have to do with the symbol emblazoned upon my breasts, I know full well it's a permanent mark..."

She sighed deeply, her chest going up and down in a single heave.

"No my issue is far more terrifying than the average layman could imagine. "

Liu Lu then standing where she was, smiled and turned and gestured for Veilen to follow to two chairs sitting on the side of the room. As she walked she said.

"Understand you are no prisoner, but rather a guest. You will enjoy a feast tonight, and comfortable bed, and then you may leave if you choose. Though... I have a proposition for you first. If you would hear it.. after I discuss my dream with you first of course. I would be much obliged."

Then Liu Lu sat down at one of the chairs, and she waited for Veilen to sit with her.

Aline walked into the Inn and saw the Inn keeper sitting at one of his tables being served beer by his wife she walked over to him and looked down.

“Is my room prepared the way I asked?”

“Oh Yes Miss....Your room is ready just as you asked....And there is a man up there waiting for you.”

Aline nodded and then looked at the inn keeper and his wife.

“Do you have any wine? ...I would like a pitcher of ale and a bottle of wine to take to my room with me”

“Yes Miss let me get that for you...”

The Inn keeper’s wife stood and quickly goes to get a pitcher of ale and a older looking bottle of Wine and holds them out for her to take

“Here you are Miss one of our best wines...”

Aline nodded and smiled before heading up stairs to her room where her recent visitor was waiting for her.

For many hours did the wounded bat fly out of the city, the Tower having been lit ablaze after having stood there as a testament of time and history. Alas, it was of no consequence to Lord Cornair as he fled the scene with his newfound hostage. The sun began blazed upon the ground harshly, the still bleeding creature of the night making his way towards the same clearing as before and just as expected, there was Strauss, upon the same log with moss, sleeping as if nothing has happened.
Upon the bat’s arrival, the fox’s ears twitched and the figure before him leaned to the side, a set of ruby eyes glaring towards the injured Daemon.

“……..from the looks of things, you ran into some resistance.”
“Sir…….Lord Cornair he-“
“Wait, did you just say Cornair?”

Strauss’ eyes narrowed ever so slightly at the mentioning of the Daemonic Lord, the one and only feudal Daemon of Jormugandr and also the current Governor of the capital. The two certainly shared a strained past, but it was due to Cornair’s meddling in Strauss’ affairs and because he certainly enjoyed putting a stop to his actions, be it with sheer power or diplomatic action. He was also one of the few reasons as to why the Daemon angered.

“Yes sir…….he set your Tower…….ablaze…….and took the woman………captive……he wants a ransom…..”
“Oh he’ll get his ransom alright……”

Without so much as an effort, Strauss got off the log and stretched his wings along with his arms, his impossibly long scythe having been unsheathed already. With just a few steps, he walked past the wounded Daemon ally and was prepared to take when flight, when the man began speaking again.

“Master Strauss…..may I accompany you……please…..”
“Pfft. Don’t expect me to save your ass or anything if things get hairy.”
“I want……..to give Cornair……my best regards….”
“Ooooh, you sound pissed. Very well. What’s your name, or would you rather I called you kid the whole way?”
“Krimlach…..my name is Krimlach….”
“I’ll call you Krim for short.”

Two sets of dragon wings took flight afterwards, headed towards the city of bloodlust, Jormugandr.

Daemon Capital Jormugandr

For several hours did these two fly, the first thing that they sight caught being the horrid state of what remained of Strauss Tower. The Tower itself remained standing, but the top of it was burned beyond recognition, the City Guards putting out the remaining fires that were still alive. It’s owner only growled to himself angrily without another word as they continued to fly towards the center of the large city.

The capital city is quite large, the outskirts being surrounded by a toppling wall of 15 feet. As almost everything else with the city, it’s worn looks give it the sense of history and death that Jormugandr is well known for. Right behind that wall, a large set of creatures were mobilizing, leaving behind little to no trace of their existence, save a few bits of Tar. God knows what these creatures are, or were in this state as they approached the outskirts of the city, surrounding it completely.

Strauss and his new found companion, Krimlach, flew right above the city and the stark middle of it, there it stood. A large mansion that was surrounded by walls and edged blades befitting someone of high Noble standing. It was purposely nicknamed “castle” instead of mansion due to the fortifications of such and thus, Castle Cornair was born and right in their courtyard, there was a massive battalion of Daemon Mercenaries, each seasoned in their own ghastly way.

“Looks like the welcoming committee. At the least Cornair knows how to throw a party!!”

With a mockingly sarcastic tone was Strauss speaking, the anger evident in his voice as he plummeted forward, scythe at the ready. Krimlach didn’t say a single word, but rather followed after Strauss’ with a large Claymore in hand, the runes that were inscribed in the blade giving off a purple glow to show their unholy prowess. 20, no 40 Daemon wings took flight above Castle Cornair as their worn, chipped and even dulled blades told volumes of reliability and use but they paled in comparison to the edged gleams that the opposing party gave off.

“Lord Cornair has ordered us to kill them on sight! Do not let them inside the castle!”

The mercenary leader, a large Rhino with an equally huge War Hammer headed towards them with a battle cry to rally up his men. The symphony of blood had begun.

Strauss’ movements were almost artistical in their own way as he weaved and almost danced to the rhythm of battle, his scythe weaving arcs and crescents amongst the enemy number. Everytime his scythe moved, an enemy body part was cleaved, screams of pain and blood blotting out the sky beneath. Without much effort, 3 Daemon mercenaries were killed as another flew in from behind in an attempt to skewer Strauss’ with a shortsword, only to be cleaved in half by Krim, who kept to the same rhythm as the Daemon fox and the two stuck together, flying into the thick of battle.

“Impossible! Don’t superior numbers count for anything!?”

One of the mercenaries screamed out as the sight of Strauss beheading one of the man’s former comrades was imprinted into his mind before the reaping weapon was trained on himself. Another scream followed and another corpse exploded in a mist of blood and skin as it fell down with another set of severed limbs. Arms, legs, heads….beneath was naught more than a body bank, the horrid amount of murder and flesh that piled one after another enough to make anyone sick and the air raining down on the ground with the blood of their enemies. One by one they fell and in the end, not a single Mercenary was spared.

“Bah, that was quick…..Cornair, you’ve lowered your standards.”
“Maybe he’s holding out on us?”
“HA! That’s rich! Let’s go Krim!”

This Daemon murdered certainly enjoyed the camaraderie from someone who enjoyed the battle as much as he did. How strange was friendship, to flourish in the battlefield. The two victors gently landed down on the ground, not bothering to look down on their slain enemies, as they stepped upon their corpses. With a swift kick, the door was blown open, reinforced plastic and wood being smashed forward as a set of Gargoyle statues roared to life inside.

“So you WERE holding out on us! Let’s have some REAL fun now!”

Strauss’ only began to laugh as he ran inside, cleaving rock and steel alike as these gargoyle statues crumbled to pieces beneath, not having been able to witness their own fate. The bat followed quickly behind, keeping an eye out for any remaining enemies. Suddenly, another door was opened and a small legion of Daemons clad in armor came out, their Axes, shields and swords gleaming off the bare sunlight that came through one of the many windows. These were certainly some of the best inside, for their equipment was not of common steel.

“By order of Lord Cornair, we shall strike you down!”
“By order of Master Strauss, we shall bathe in your blood!”

Krimlach certainly had spirit, for his battered body launched forward with no fear whatsoever, his claymore doing the talking as it rent their armor and tore at their flesh beneath. The very act alone was impressive for the bat had been wounded far before being in this battle and yet he moved with such strength, such will, such grace….it was something that even Maximillian had to acknowledge.

“AAAAUGH!”

The large reach of the weapon mowed through many knights at a time, cutting through thick steel and thin flesh alike, the sound of crunching bones echoing through the hallways. Maximillian only stood back with his scythe as a familiar smile crossed his expression.

“My, my! Kid certainly has promise!”

Leaning his scythe on the side, a familiar Bow and Arrow was poised for shooting, aimed towards the dwindling crowd of knights that Krimlach singlehandedly destroyed. His arrow aimed towards his newfound ally, but didn’t shoot. Rather, he awaited for him to finish, his claymore now cutting through another helmet and into the head of a Rat Daemon, his body giving a ghoulish groan before the large gash that bore his head spitted out his brain matter along with blood and bones.

“Hah….hah……haven’t had a workout like this in a while.”

Krim certainly sounded just as psychotic as Strauss’ a smile in his face as he turned to his Master, surprised to see him aiming an arrow in his position.

“Mind getting down for me?”

Strauss’ ordered loudly enough and the bat was happy enough to comply as he knelt down. The strumming sound of a bow being fired and the whizzing of air from an arrow filled the halls, the glowing red tip flying over the allied Daemon. As the arrow embedded itself on the nearby wall, the wall itself seemingly glowed red for a split second before it burst open in an explosion and the screams of Daemon sentry’s behind it were just as plainly heard.

“Good shot, Master!”
“No time for flatteries, kid! We got some guests to attend to!”

The bow found it’s way back on Strauss’ and his scythe was taken up once more, the two running towards the newly made entrance and ignoring the burnt sentries beneath. The smell of blood was thick and the Adrenaline of the two was pumping. There was no stopping them.
Atop the stairs waited a couple of archers who rolled barrels of black powder towards them and fired upon the same with flaming tip arrows in an attempt to destroy them in the ensuing explosion. Strauss only pulled one hand behind him and rose his cape up high, covering the entire length of his body all the way to the wings. Krim was directly behind him and as the explosion rocked the foundations of the mansion, the two came out unscathed. Not even the cape had so much as a speck of dirt on it as the bat was left wondering.

‘That must certainly be some cape to withstand an explosion like that!’

He didn’t pay it much mind as the staircase was completely destroyed and the Daemon fox had taken flight, impaling one Archer on his scythe and tossing the still wriggling corpse bellow to his comrade, who sliced at the body in a second and split it in two, as blood covered the bat now from head to toe. The other archer suffered a more painful death as the psychopath took a firm grasp of him and literally separated the man in two with his sheer strength alone, his spine making a horrendous cracking sound as he tossed the now separated pieces of what used to be a cheetah.

“Hahahahaha!!! Finally Cornair did something right!!!”

So much death, so many deaths and to Maximillian? It was so amusing. One had to wonder what he enjoyed in taking a life. Once again, the two continued their advance inside the mansion, cutting and cleaving through any resistance along the way and spattering the walls in blood. It wasn’t long before they reached a large double set of doors, their engravings in steel and ore meaning a large Ballroom. And as the doors creaked open by the aged hinges, there waited Cornair, holding Crystal in a chokehold with a regal cutlass to her throat. Surrounding Cornair were Female Daemon mages and more Daemon mercenaries. It was certainly a suitable force.

“So, you came as I expected! Thanks for getting rid of those stupid mercenaries upfront, seeing as they wanted nearly a fortune just to keep guard!”
“This coming from the ass who torched my tower? I said that next time you mess with me, I’ll cut off your dick and make you eat it!”
“Bold words for someone who has everything to lose!”
“AAAH!”

Crystal screamed out in pain as the cutlass scratched at her throat, the edged blade of the of the regal steel being twisted painfully. With a smile, Strauss’ and his bat companion jumped into the fray, spells flying in all directions as fire, lightning wind and metal collided with Damascus steel and superior technique. Bodies fell, screams ensued and blood was all the hung in the air. No man or woman was spared in this massacre as Cornair watched in horror. Not even the threat of a hostage stopped this man and it certainly made him fear for his life. Alas, he had to remain resolute. Strauss continued to dice through more weapons and bodies than he had time to breath, the sound of steel against steel and the sickeningly sweet sound of rending flesh being music to his ears. Scythe and Claymore slew numbers more of murderous Daemons and before long, the vast majority of them had fallen, the ballroom floors covered to the brim in dragon wings and blood that pooled together along with the various organs. It was sickening.

“Not another step or the woman dies!”
“You REALLY think that you’re going to scare me?”

All this time, Crystal remained ever hopeful that Strauss would come get her and she was right and as she watched him slay hundreds of Daemon’s along with the same bat as before, her face gleamed with hope. He was the one. Strauss looked back into Crystal’s eyes and as their gazes locked, a sudden light came before the Lunar Priestess. With a quick elbow, a push to the side and an instant lightning spell, Cornair was pushed off from her and sent towards the floor, writhing in pain from the burns. The stench of burning fur and flesh was almost strong enough to battle the smell of blood and as Cornair backed away in fear, Strauss walked towards him. The man still had the will to fight as the cutlass rose up with anger and flew forward towards the man’s scythe. The sounds of battle continued on once more as Krimlach fought on one end, killing and slaying the mercenaries from behind while Strauss took on the head man, the Governor of the Daemon city. Crystal only watched the ensuing carnage with terror in delight. She had never expected to feel such an emotion, but the very thought that this man, this murderous fox had come for her and killed hundreds for her. It brought a tear to her eyes. Strike after strike did the Cutlass weave, each only meeting steel as it never got past the imposing scythe before him. Cornair felt cornered in his own ballroom and as such, danced towards his own demise. Finally, Strauss went on the offensive, swinging his scythe in powerful throws as the blade marked the ground, the nearby pillars and even it’s intended mark itself, Cornair. In a flimsy defense, the cutlass was raised up high and finally cut in pieces as the blade flew to the side and jabbed at the ground to not be moved again. All Cornair could feel was death itself walking towards him in the form of the most despised creature in all Daemon kind.

“What did I say Cornair? WHAT did I say?”
“Y-you w-wouldn’t!”
“I will and shall!”

The man only cowered in fear as he saw his life flash before his very eyes. Strauss took the scythe in hand and cleaved into the floor before Cornair, splitting stone beneath him with ease as his captive urinated himself in sheer fear. As the scythe went to the air once more at lightning fast speeds, the leftmost arm of the once mighty Lord was split off at the bone, blood spattering and gushing all over the floor to join that of it’s counterparts. All he could do was scream in terror and pain.

“Aww, is the kid going to cry? Well TOO BAD!”

His wings touched a wall and that was the end for him. A crippling pain followed into the man’s crotch, a familiar scythe’s blade having struck down and cut off the very thing that made Cornair a man. Without any hesitation whatsoever, Strauss brought it up and stuck the still bloody dick to the mouth of the screaming Daemon Lord and stuck inside by force, the edge of the scythe ripping also at his mouth as he continued to wriggle in untold amounts of pain. Crystal and Krimlach had even stood together as they saw the way the Daemon fox tortured this man. Certainly one of his word and then Strauss turned around with a smile. Without another word, the same Lunar Priestess came running towards him and jumped with open arms towards the fox to greet him. This actually took him by surprise.

“You came! Oh I knew you would come for me!”
“Aaargh….I’m just here to save my interests, alright?”
“So I’m one of your interests?”
“…….maybe.”

Nothing could have made Crystal smile more. Krimlach only smiled from a distance as he watched Cornair struggle with his manhood stuck in his throat. Such was the pain that he couldn’t move his remaining arm as he literally began to choke on it, unable to breathe from the tears and snot the fell from every inch of his face and before long, his face began to change colors.

“We have done well Master. What should we do now?”
“What should we do now? We celebrate! I now declare this Castle Strauss!”

The enjoyment was shortly lived however. A powerful explosion suddenly rocked the very foundations of the ground itself, shattering windows and glass alike as a powerful gust blew from the Ballroom doors. It had come from the front of the mansion.

“What was that?”

Crystal was the first to ask as the powerful winds blew at her clothing. Stained in blood as it was, she was used to it now and certainly didn’t mind. Strauss and Krimlach slowly began jogging towards the doors, walking above the corpses and leaving bloody imprints on the floor that faded soon after. The priestess felt defenseless. The two had fought for her and now, a slight guilt came over her for feeling useless and as such, she picked up a strange lance that looked to be a staff, holding a large edge at the top for close range fighting. Once obtained, her footsteps echoed past towards the two, who stood in front of a window. What greeted their eyes may have been the most painful thing to watch, even for their own twisted psyche’s.

The city limits were being overrun by strange creatures. Weapons for limbs, tar filled eyes and sluggish movement. Some moved slowly while others were as fast as feral creatures. Flying Daemon’s and weapons were what they could see as these ‘creatures’ slowly massacred anyone and anything that moved in their path. From riding animals to children, women and elderly. They were all massacred without delay, the sight of a female skunk having her wings torn apart as she screamed in horror and pain, only to be impaled seconds later by the chipped blade of the creature’s arms. On another house they could see a middle aged Crow fighting for his life before being sliced from beneath his left arm to the head in a single fluid motion, exploding in a shower of organs and viscera. Crystal actually began to cry at the horror she witnessed as Krymlach and Strauss watched in awe.

“W-w-what are those things!?!?”
“Reavers…..jeez, they’re uglier in person.”

The reason of the explosion was unverified, but suddenly another tremor rocked the newly appointed Castle. What they saw looked like a creature straight out of their nightmares. A tall elephant with tar like eyes and a lance arm sluggishly walked towards them. No sound could be heard as it moved towards them. It seemed to have destroyed the walls below and had somehow climbed the stairs, evident by the jagged pieces of wood all around him as he left a trail of tar beneath him.

“Aaaah!”
“We’ll take care of him!”

Krim shouted out of instinct as he and Maximillian headed forth with weapons at the ready. Whatever this new threat was, it was bound to fall like the rest and with their overconfidence peaked, their weapons dug deep into the creature as it groaned in pain but nothing more. It felt thicker than steel and flesh and it was hard to move their weapons from his body, the creature’s clothing having been torn to in multiple sides as it barely clung to the massive frame.

“What the!?”
“Whatever the hell this thing is, it’s tough!”

The elephant creature’s trunk did a familiar noise as it swung around it’s lance like arms, pushing Krim into the nearest wall with a powerful blow that actually sunk it back in a powerful depression. The poor bat was knocked unconscious in seconds and thus the elephant walked towards him. Strauss pulled back and prepared to behead the creature while Crystal only watched in horror with her weapon in hand. The elephant rose his arms and was prepared to bring down the bloody edges, telling of the thousands he had killed before this, on the unconscious daemon and just then, the air moved around and the elephants head and trunk were severed from the body. As the head slid off it’s socket with sickening noise, no blood came gushing out, but rather a strange tar like substance came to ooze out. Worse yet, the body showed no signs of stopping as it’s arms still rose up, preparing to strike.

“Impossible! I cut off it’s head and it’s still alive!?”

For the first time in his life, Strauss felt fear. An enemy that remained alive even when headless? What kind of creature was this? Crsytal finally snapped out of her trance like state and shook her head. If she wanted to prove herself to Strauss, now was the time and with a quick enchantment on her lance, she ran forward. Her eyes closed, she released a powerful war cry and in seconds, had impaled the large creature from one side to another. A strange groaning sound came from the creature’s tattered clothing that protruded from the sides as the lance came out, covered from thick to thin in tar. The creature did stop, but It continued to struggle nonetheless. Finally, Krim moved his head to the side with a pained groan and looked at the massive form before him before realizing once more that he was in danger and began to move. It was also when Strauss took hold of his scythe again and tore to shreds what remained of the creature’s clothing, leaving it stark naked. It was male, evident by the large dick that he sported in the front, but now it wasn’t the time to be taking notice of such things. What was startling the most of this, was that the elephant creature had 4 more heads in his chest. Whatever it was, it had five heads and out of all 5, 3 had been struck down.

“So that’s why you’re still moving!”

Strauss shouted out in anger and soon enough, an edge as keen as his tongue had pierced the chest of the creature by the front and had impaled it once more. Two more heads had been taking down in a fell blow and signaled Krim’s part in this battle. Finally, the creature stopped moving as tar continued to fall from each blow and wound that marked it’s blemished flesh and as the weapons were pulled out and flicked of the tar, the body fell down and pooled more of this strange liquid.

“This thing…..it’s a Reaver.”
“Reavers? How the hell did they go so far inland!?”
“I don’t know, but whatever it is….they’re taking over Jormugandr.”

Crystal didn’t speak. She was still a bit traumatized about what they fought and what she had done to help defeat ‘it’. Strauss only looked back out of the window to witness the destruction in the streets as more Reavers slowly walked into the castle through the destruction.

“Damn. Now I regret having killed all the guards.”
“Likewise…..if all of them are like this, we’re screwed.”

Strauss only swung an arm and took Crystal close as she shrieked out of instinct. Once she realized whom had grabbed her, she remained silent and all three of them jumped out of the second floor window and into the ground floor, where they were met with an imposing force of these creatures. Some were inside, but most were all round them. They were surrounded.

“I say we show them not to mess with Daemons!”
“Nicely said, kid!”

Their weapons were prepared, their stances ready and as these creatures neared them with these sluggish, predictable movements, their substance that covered the insides flew up high. Many were ordinary furries, nothing like the large creature they had met before and fell after multiple hits and dismemberment of their bodies, like beheading and impalement through key parts. Tar now covered every inch of blood on the floor as more bodies pooled along the sides. Some of these creatures continued to move and attack even after serious dismemberment of the lower torso, using their arms to crawl forward and attack. Strauss ran forward, cleaving bodies left and right with his massive scythe and using his speed and power to impale a body and drive them back to not get fully surrounded, giving them space. Krim jumped in the air, using his wings to repedeatly strike at the creatures and lop off their limbs in the process. Crystal used her newfound lance to keep them at bay while also using it’s peculiar shape and constitution to use powerful spells based on the elements and Lunar energy in order to destroy their bodies. One Reaver fell and three took it’s place as the tar continued to spill from all directions, overpowering the smell of blood and nauseating the group. More than 50 of them had been killed but there was no end in sight as the Reaver’s continued to pour through the main gate and storm the group. Finally Strauss screamed at the murdering of three more of these creatures.

“Fall back! There’s too many of them!”
“What?!”
"What!?"

Both Crystal and Krimlach screamed out in surprise. Never had they thought to have heard Strauss willingly escape from battle. Had he some reason? Their reaction was impeccable as Krimlach extended his hand and took hold of Crystal who did not complain in the slightest and once the two took flight, Straus followed, launching themselves high in the air to keep themselves safe from the enemy advance.

“Master, what do we do!?”
“We make our way to the city center and look for the head honcho. We find him and the rest are easy pickings.”
“But Master, that’s suicide!”
“That’s why I’m thinking of going alone.”

Incredible that under the most strenuous of situations that such an evil and tainted heart showed a chivalrous nature and care for his fellow Daemon and without waiting to hear of his comrades objections, Strauss flew in head first.

“Master, WAAAAIIIT!”
“It’s too late, he can’t hear you. Go in after him!”
“Are you crazy!? He said he was going it alone! If I disobey, he will kill me!”
“He can’t kill you if he's dead in the first place!”
“…..good point. Stick close to me once we land!”

And before long, Krimlach and Crystal followed in.
The Daemon fox flew past the many, many towers. Houses were set on fire, innocents were being murdered below and those who had weapons were putting up a makeshift resistance before falling prey to the overwhelming enemy force. Many Reaver archers had actually taken notice of Daemons who attempted to flee the city via Aerial means, but these were also taken out by un-matched aim, their nearly broken bowstrings proving to be far more efficient than anything ever seen as metallic hell rained down from the heavens below. Strauss had to stick close to the towers and many buildings in order to avoid unpleasant encounters of the kind, but did manage to fight back by taking aim himself and launching a few of his explosive arrows. With the explosions, tar shut up into the skies above along with weaponized limbs, recognizeable by the bits of flesh that remained by the hilts and bits of the weapons. It was something purely out of nightmare and worse yet, it was real. It was happening before them and….it was killing them. Finally, the city center was in sight. Dead corpses of Daemon guards and military personnel alike marred the large plaza as wooden barricades that were spiked left and right did little to nothing in stopping the enemy advance. A few Reaver bodies were here and there, but their numbers were far too low to be considered an actual advance in the battle. The Daemon casualties were literally in the hundreds of thousands, while the incoming force had lost no more than twenty in taking the plaza alone. With a flutter of wind, Strauss landed on the plaza and began assisting the very few Daemon officers who had managed to stay alive up until now, landing in the very middle of their group as they trembled in fear.

“M-Maximillian!? Guys, Maximillian Srauss has come to help us!”
“Hey, I’m just here looking for the big cheese. If that means I have to help your sorry asses out here, then so be it!”
“We just might have a chance!”

Their morale increased tenfold as weathered swords and regal blades alike joined alongside each other, all being led by a demonic scythe as it proceeded to mow row after row, wave after wave of Reavers. Finally, the Daemons had a fighting chance and in the stark middle of it all, was Maximillian Strauss, leading the assault. As his scythe lopped off the head of platypus and used it’s still twitching body as a ram by kicking it into the group, it was quickly sent flying by a large Hippopotamus that sported armor. It’s imposing size obviously brought fear to the remaining Daemon allies as it punched it’s way through the lines, smashing their bodies down in a disgusting spatter of blood that covered the towering giant itself.

“Take down that huge thing! Aim for the head!”

Many daemons, including Strauss, surrounded the Hippo as it swung it’s massive Axe arms around. As it turned around, one of the Daemon officers jumped up and actually sank his blade cleanly through the middle of it’s skull from forehead to the chin in an effortless swing, tar being squirted out the same as the others, but the massive cretin didn’t stop there. It continued to move and finally send the officers flying into another crowd of Reavers, whom quickly made short work of the poor Bear and sent it’s arms and legs flying in other directions.

“How can It still be alive!? He cleanly sliced the head off!”

It was true. The halves of the face were actually falling to the sides, one of them falling down to reveal a disgusting combination of tar, brain and skull, but the creature continued to move as if it was nothing, no hindrance seen in it’s movements. Suddenly, Strauss barked more orders.

“It’s chest! Get rid of the armor and aim for the chest!”

Pure fear and anger fueling their every move, the Daemon infantry proceeded to strike at the creature’s chest, taking some blows themselves as the nearly unrecognizable Hippo’s breastplate and chainmail were now rent beyond repair and tossed aside without so much as a movement of the thighs. What they saw was enough to haunt these poor Infantry for the rest of their lives, if they were to make it. They saw that the Hippopotamus still had a head, or rather, four more of them as they gnarled and stared at the men with their tar covered eyes. Some screamed in fear, others took a step back, but Strauss went forward and with a growl, his weapon of choice cut cleanly through the middle of their collective faces, the torso rolling neatly off the side in a small geyser of tar and falling to the floor without so much of a groan.

“They must lose all of their heads in order to fall! Just keep the other small fry busy while I deal with the big ones!”

Once again, the Daemon defense began to hold. Under Strauss’ orders, the Reaver advance was beginning to be held back and the large group of infantrymen began to regain ground once more. Archers rained their arrows from above when ordered as the very few Daemon mages that were about threw spell after spell from their reservoirs to burn and injure the enemy. Strauss was a force to be feared indeed.

Meanwhile, Krim and Crystal had a rough landing several miles away from the battle site. A stray arrow had made it’s way into one of the bat’s wings and had to do a forced landing on one of the many roofs below, sliding down beneath and into an alleyway. Screams of innocents and guards were heard as the unmistakeable sounds of battle were up ahead.

“Ahh….are you alright?”

Crystal had actually landed on her feet and was not certainly affected by the plummeting fall at a considerable height, thanks to Strauss’ past actions, but Krim wasn’t so lucky as he fell headfirst and worsened the injuries from before.

“Ahh…j-just…a scratch!”
“That’s not just a scratch. Let me have a look.”

Her female intuition was right. Krim had been skewered on his left shoulder by a large axe head and had a bleeding wound. The pain must’ve been unbearable, more so since he took the brunt of the fall. As the bat hissed and groaned in pain, Crystal grunted.

“Tiena La’chryma.”

As her hands went towards her chest and her eyes sealed, her entire body glowed white. The Lunar Priestess certainly lived upto her name and thanks to her training and the enchated Lunar words, a white mist surrounded the Daemon bat and his injuries, seeping within them. Before long, they were no longer there, not even the ones she had given him before all of this happened. With a surprised look, the bat looked up.

“Thank you…..I…I’m sorry for what I almost did back at the tower.”
“Don’t mention it. It was Strauss’ orders so there’s no need to be sorry. Now, repay me by helping me get to him!”

The bat was dumbfounded. She was his hostage and she wanted to save him? What an odd woman. Nevertheless, he nodded and the two ran down the alleyway with their weapons poised for battle. The screams of a nearby female Ocelot running with her cub from a Reaver were heard and the instant the tar covered figure appeared before them at the end of the alley, the two did not wait to ambush them in a mixture of magic and arcane steel. The woman was nowhere to be seen but for now, she was free of the threat of the Reavers. More alleyways were up ahead as they continued up and split into the main roads, which were filled by now to the brim with corpses and enemies.

“Which way should we go?”
“I say we take the main road. It should help us reach Strauss faster and allow us to help any people we see along the way.”

Krim certainly had heart to help those in need, but now wasn’t the time. The two ran down another alleyway and came face with a large hotel in the empty streets, signs of blood and struggle everywhere and inside the hotel, a girlish scream was heard. Crystal ran inside first with a fire in her eyes that had not been there before. Inside the trashed tavern where mugs, bottles and blood were all that covered the floors, were also more signs of evident fighting, due to the claw marks and weapons that were strewn about.

“HEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!”

From the second floor came a girly scream and the Priestess was quick to move about. Down the stairs ran a small daemon koala boy as a Reaver fox chased firmly behind with a halberd sticking it’s leftmost arm and as the boy tripped under the destruction beneath him, death was certainly one to arrive quickly. It never did manage to arrive, for the creature was stabbed in the forehead, making it flinch and reel back, but not before being blasted by a powerful wave of magical lightning, incinerating the tar filled corpse and making it fly out towards the nearest wall, dead like the ones before it.

“Are you alright?”
“M-my sister is upstairs! Please save her!”

Crystal literally flew up those stairs, not even thinking twice about the situation. Once upstairs, many rooms were left open, some even having their doors being held by a now decaying Daemon corpse, but the scream came from the room to directly to her right as she saw a little Daemon Koala girl curled up in a ball, her face streamed with tears as a Reaver was about to deliver death mercilessly to the youngling with a hammer-like limb.

“Hey ugly!”

Her voice was just what was needed as the creature turned it’s head around to look at the more suitable pray and forgot the girl altogether, turning around to strike at her. Crystal was far quicker than the creature and as the Hammer only flew above her fur, the lance edge came to rest inside the remains of what once was a jaguar, now turned into one of these creature’s innards. Crystal was now accoustomed to this strange stafflance and sent another spell charging through the shaft, sending the now burning creature through the window and into the ground below. Swift and effortless. The young girl stood up and ran towards Crystal, giving her a hug without a word and running down the stairs, unable to speak from the emotional scaring of what she has seen. Crystal looked down from the window to see Krim, fighting against two more Reavers that had come out of nowhere and the same girl and boy from earlier, running in the alleyway they just came out of. As she vaulted her legs over the damage window panel, she landed down below with the flexibility of a trained fighter. Her training had served her some use after all and by the time she reached her comrade in arms, Krim had dispatched them with his claymore, shaking off the leftover tar from the keen, rune engraved edge.

“Any survivors?”
“Just that one girl and her brother. The others were dead.”
“I see. We better keep moving.”

The two nodded to one another and continued to run forward, towards the Central Plaza, where Strauss was seen to be headed.

Back at the Plaza, more of creatures of the same kind with multiple heads had arrived and once again, been killed effortlessly by Strauss. His power, speed and tactic was just the edge the Daemon’s needed to take back the Central Plaza and were certainly putting a stop to the Reaver advance. Such was their improvement that Reavers from all around had to stop their assault and reconvene in the plaza in hopes of breaking through, but thanks to their strong morale and reorganizing, they were staved back.

“We just might win this! We can push these bastards out of our city!”
“Don’t get cocky! We aren’t anywhere near that!”

Strauss bellowed out as another Rhinocerous Reaver with multiple heads fell down in it’s comrades tar and body parts. This had marked the 8th kill of these ‘things’ and had made him wonder how many were there. Strauss wasn’t a god either. He had taken more than just a few hits, his wings bleeding from two arrow shafts that were imbeeded within, the hilt of a small dagger whose blade had penetrated deep within his left shoulder and the guard still having bits of flesh in it and even a sword that had slashed at his back. He was wounded, but he was far from finished. And then, things got worse. A pair of gleaming eyes in the crowd moved and a green blur was seen rushing through the Reaver Army as it rushed the Daemon position.

“What is th- AAAAAUUUUGH!”

A green fox with no weaponized limbs or tar like eyes was seen. His movements were quick, precise and deadly. Whoever this creature was, he was certainly with the enemy and nothing like the ones before.

“He must be the enemy leader! Take him down!”

Shouts of anger and weapons were pointed towards this seemingly ordinary fox as he pounced from Daemon to Daemon with it’s sharp claws and broadsword, weaving in and out as his cuts left down large gashes and geysers of blood to rain down on the tar and before long, reached towards Strauss. Strauss took down yet another Reaver to the floor, he was taken off guard by this one green fox and took a powerful hit to his right arm, making him left out a grunt of pain.

“Ack! What the hell!?”

He was surprised more than anything. Such speed, such power. It matched his own. Once again, he smiled.

“Looks like I get to play some more!”

The wound was nothing to him as his wings stretched out and shrunk back into his back. What happened next was a mixture of blurs, one black and one green as the two fought in nearly impossible speeds, sparks of fire and steel being churned up. The two were just as Maximillian had said, evenly matched and no matter what Strauss did, the fox would counter with a trick of his own.

“You’re pretty good!”
“You aren’t bad yourself.”
“You can talk!?”

Another surprise to add to the fray as Strauss glared with his smile at this opponent. Whoever this one was, he certainly had sense of humor, perhaps enough to make him his Rival. Once again, the two figures took to speed once more as more sparks flew out, once from the scythe, the other from the broadsword. It was incredible how the two fought now in their own plane, aside from the war that went around them and before long, yet another figure made it’s way to the group. Standing at six feet with brown hair, dark eyes with an orange and red tint in them and dark clothing, his hands were held before him as he eyed the battle. The fox actually lowered his guard for a millisecond, giving Maximillian the opening he needed and finally managing to imbed his scythe on the fox’s chest. His opponent showed no pain, but clearly backed off as he jumped to the side and then towards the side of this new creature. Finally, Strauss looked towards him and his features. He wore no fur, his stare was cold and his features were far more fearsome than his own.

‘He…doesn’t have fur? What the hell is it?’

This creature continued to walk forward towards the battle, the Reaver force still losing considerable numbers.

“Sir, this daemon has potential and has singlehandedly taken out 30% of our ground forces. He has also killed 8 of our 10 experimental Juggernauts.”
“Good work Katmir. I shall handle it from here.”
“But General Phillip, I-“
“Enough. He has wounded you and the battle has been prolonged long enough. Go back and cover to western front of the city.”
“Yes sir.”

The two held a small conversation, one whom Strauss was listening to.

‘Phillip…? Katmir….? I’d better memorize those two names.’

The two figures stood stalwartly in the middle of corpse, the air stagnant with the stench of tar and blood, the cries of pain and the sound of steel ringing in their ears. Strauss rose his scythe to meet his gaze and the gaze of this ‘man’ that stood imposingly before him.

“Who are you? What are you and why are you here?”
“It matters not to you and it shall not matter to you when you face death.”

Such a calm voice and yet a strong resolution. This ‘man’ was one to be feared indeed and in the blink of an eye, he appeared before Strauss, sending a powerful fist towards him and sending the Daemon fox flying towards the floor. The fist was far too powerful breaking more than just a few bones in his body. With a spit of blood, the fox landed heavily and quickly stood up, keeping his guard up.

“What the hell….?”
“I am far more powerful than any creature you have faced until now and way more deadly. If you choose to surrender, I shall grant you a swift and merciful death.”
“HA! In your dreams, pops!”

Something chilling was in this man’s voice, something that stretched on for years on end and made the daemon psychopath tremble in fear. What was this creature? Strauss launched forward and swung with his scythe, were this Phillip character only weaved to the sides and ducked every few seconds or so, dodging each and every lightning fast strike of Strauss. His hands were always behind his back as he glared forward without so much as blinking and Strauss only watched in horror.

“Impossible! No fur can dodge my attacks!”
“But I am not a ‘fur’ to begin with.”

This statement dumbfounded Strauss, before he was punched again in the chest, sending his body towards a brick wall, destroying it in the process. The strike was far too powerful and suddenly Strauss was forced to vomit his own blood on the floor as he stood up. He was heavily injured now and was a miracle he was still standing.

“Then let me operate on YOU!”

His body flew towards him, even with strained wings and Strauss continued to swing towards the man, who made no effort to dodge whatsoever. This time, Strauss managed to impale the man on the chest with his scythe, pulling it out as flesh and clothing was rent beyond recognition. Tar also oozed out, but this man did not even flinch.

“You…..I just ripped out your chest and….”
“Surprised? I cannot be killed by mere relics of the old age.”

Before his very eyes, more tar flowed out the skin that had been torn and destroyed had just melted into more tar on the floor. The wound that the Daemon had made was no longer seen as it was regenerated in mere seconds and repaired. This was a fearsome ‘man’ indeed. In an instant, the creature roundhouse kicked the demon fox in the chest and sent him flying for the last time into another wall, this one being far too heavy and powerful to be destroyed as his body crashed heavily into a sword that was imbedded on the wall and thus, stabbed through the fox. He wouldn’t be able to take much more of this. And all the while, Phillip walked towards him.

“I sincerely hoped you would prove a challenge for me. It seems that was too much to ask from you. Now, I shall give you a moment of pain, for an eternity or rest.”

As poetic as it sounded, Maximillian was ready to face death, his eyes looking up through dirt and dust to see the ‘man’ that was about to end his existence as he pulled his fist back and was about to unleash it upon him, when everything went white. It was more than a fitting death for the fox, to have died defending his innate city. Strauss was sure he had been killed, but a sudden grunt of anger came from the same voice as before, from the one known as Phillip.

“What trickery is this!?”
“Come on Strauss, move!!!”

The familiar female voice lit a sudden burning sensation in his heart as he found the will to move once more and stood up, taking the sword with his body and everything. His eyes opened once more and what he saw was none other than Crystal and Krim, whom he had thought had left the city. Yet, here they were before him, saving his life.

“I though you two had left…”
“Like hell we’re going to leave without you!”
“You should thank her Master! She’s the one who convinced me to come after you!”

He couldn’t believe his ears. Why would the woman whom he had taken against her will and forced around in torture, would want to save this man? So many thoughts, so many emotions, so many ideas and yet, all he could concentrate right now was on running away. This was one opponent he could not kill and was evident for all he could do was run with the two of the most unlikely allies he could’ve found on the battlefield.

Night befell the city and they were still running. They were now at a considerable distance of the Daemon Capital, whom still burned brightly in the night sky as a beacon of death and destruction to show the victory of their enemies. The woods were crowded with Reaver Sentries and running Daemons, a combination of civilians, guards and the like. And then there was the trio. One who was severely injured with weapons still on his body and the other two leading the way. As they continued to run, Maximillian could no longer take the strain on his body and collapsed on the ground under the night sky, forcing the others to stop.

“I….I can’t go on……leave me and go….”
“We can’t leave you Master."
“And I am not leaving without you. I think we are far enough, Krim.”
“Why…….why…..why would anyone……bother to *cough* save me……?”

He couldn’t comprehend this. For someone who has used people for the majority of his life and been used to murder and death, he could not understand what it was to have a friend, to have a companion in battle, to share the glory of victory or defeat. His eyes gleamed into the moon as Crystal looked at his wounds and pulled at the many weapons that were stuck within him.

“These wounds are too deep and too powerful. My magic can only heal him so much, but he will need proper medical treatment.”
“Maybe I can signal a Lunar Transport to come pick us up?”
“Good idea, but you will need something to give them a reason to pick us up in the first place. Give them this.”

She was quick in pulling out a brooch that was so innocently placed above her head, a brooch that has been with the Royal Family for generations and was bound to be unmistaken by any guard of the Lunar Empire. Before Krimlach the bat took to the skies in search of aid, the three of them turned to look back at the burning city, the still audible screams being heard and the fact that it was now a city of blood. So many losses, so many innocents and soldiers, all of them murdered without the slightest of hesitations. Finally Krim disappeared from view in the night skies and Strauss and Crystal were left alone in the underbrush, hidden from view.

“After all I did to you……….you would save my life……”
“I had my reasons.”
“Those being….? *Cough*”
“I had to protect my interests.”
“Ha….very funny.”
“Now stop wasting your energy and let me do my work.”

Her hands went to her chest once more in prayer as her body glowed white, when a sudden gloved hand pushed away her own and stopped her chanting.

“No……I don’t deserve to live……..let me die here.”
“Oh gee, then how are you going to repay me then? You owe me another night in bed, you know?”

Strauss finally cracked a smile. His sense of humor had somehow passed unto her and it was incredible how the two barely knew each other and yet, she felt feelings for him, feelings that Strauss was now beginning to see, but not understand. His eyes closed with a sigh.

“Fine…..I owe you a night in bed. And I’m sorry for kidnapping you and murdering your guards.”
“And?”
“……and taking you to my Tower.”
“And?”
“…..and almost letting Krimlach have his way with you.”
“And?”
“There’s nothing left to be sorry about.”
“Yes there is.”

And finally, it happened. Her face leaned in ever so gently to plant a kiss on Maximillian’s lips, allowing the two to share a moment of romance.

Oasis in the Desert Region

It was incredible how the bat was driven to fly, his exhaustion being great. The wind was perfect for gliding on, but every few minutes he had to climb higher and higher and still no caravan in sight. The thought of giving up was great and in one final plummet, Krimlach fell down. His body crashed harshly on the gravel below, covering his body in sand, dirt and countless cuts.

"Must'nt.......give up......"

The bat was tired, but he also had a mission to accomplish and with the sheer force of his will, he stood up. The underbrush then rustled underneath and a flute played at a distance. In seconds, the Daemon was surrounded by Lunarian guards, each of their signature halberds aimed towards the Daemon and trained to kill. Their Captain arrived seconds later.

"You Daemon scum. First you kidnap our Princess and then you cross into our encampment? I believe I should offer you a silent death in order to atone for your sins."
"No....You......You don't.....understand...."
"What is there to understand? I care not for your tricks, not to mention that some of you may outright kill us all on the spot, or this may be some plot to lower or guards and storm our defenses. Kill him now."

The blades all sounded in unison as their shafts were prepared to pierce the tired bat.

"WAIT I said!"

With a tone of anger in his voice, the Crescent Moon Brroch was thrown to the floor, the gleam given by it's combination of diamonds and rubies enough to stay the hands of the soldiers. In seconds, the insignia was recognized and words of awe and questioning came to light.

"T-this is the sign and brooch of Princess Crystal! Where did you obtain this, you filth!?"
"By......by the outskirts.......of Jormugandr.......it was.....was taken......by Reavers........Crystal.....Strauss.....they're....."
"EGADS! You tell me that the sociopathic murderer that has stolen her from us has done something to her!? Kill him! Kill him now!"
"No he.....he risked.......his life.....to......to save her.......

His words were exhausted and with that said, the bat collapsed on the floor into unconsciousness, leaving the guards baffled.

"A Daemon murdered, famous for Genocide, risking his life to save the very hostage he took!?.....Never mind that, we must save the princess! Bring this bat with us and prepare the caravans!"

A suitable force of 20 Lunar Caravans with medical supplies was sent seconds laters, Krimlach abors one of them as he was treated for his extreme exhaustion.

The room at the Falling Star was princely. It was dusk outside, yet the room was pleasantly lit with oil lamps and candles. Embers smoldered in the fireplace, giving the place a smoky aroma. Atop the mantle a coffee pot bubbled and burgled as it brewed the black nectar. Lavish silk curtains framed stain-glassed windows. Hand-carved furniture of exotic woods outfitted the room. There was even a brass tub designed to heat its own water. Caroline and her servant Malinkov had moved here after leaving the border town of Jena. They had been traveling towards the capital city of Pennyork. For the past couple days, the two rested at the coaching inn. It's atmosphere and accoutrements were a pleasant surprise, to the finicky necromagus.

Sitting at the desk, the necromagus poured over a world map she bought from a traveling cartographer. Caroline could no longer find the dragon-kin when she spirit walked. She knew the dragon-kin had traveled, but could not determine where. And every time she spirit-walked, she had to use more and more of her green lotus perfume to get the desired effects. Looking away from the map, she picked up the bottle of perfume and opened it. What was left of the greenish-clear perfume shimmered in pearlescent colors from the lamplight. She tapped her foot irritatedly, as she looked at the almost empty bottle of perfume.

"Malinkov, have you had any luck procuring more perfume?" she asked, re-stoppering the bottle.

"No. Green lotus perfume is a luxury. There may be some in Pennyork, but I doubt we'll find any prior to that."

Caroline ground her teeth. "One cannot perform the ritual without the perfume, Malinkov."

"Perhaps you should avoid the ritual then, and conserve what perfume you have?"

Scowling at the insult, the wolverine-girl replied, "And why should One do that?"

"Just a suggestion. You… haven't been yourself recently."

"Oh, and who has One been?"

Picking up a tray of fruit, the revenant showed it to the necromagus. The fruit had dried. Placing the tray down, he replied, "Well, for one thing, you're leeching more than normal."

"One does not have to listen to you, Malinkov. You would well remember that you are bound to me. And my happiness is your happiness. And I am not happy, right now."

"I cannot make green lotus perfume appear out of nowhere, Caroline. Nor can I make the extract appear out of thin air."

Jumping out of her chair, the necromagus shouted, "You are not permitted to use my name! I summonsed you! I bound you! And therefore, I control you! Recite the oath!"

Malinkov balled his hands into fists, and said nothing. Caroline smirked at the act of defiance, and walked over to her armored companion. "It hurts, doesn't it? Resisting the oath. Pain even I could not imagine. I wonder if the Libram says anything about things that resist the Oath? Perhaps I should record this… for posterity. Recite the oath."

Malinkov stated, "Your desire, is my desire. Your happiness, is my happiness. I live only at your blessing. I live only as long as you desire me to live. I live to serve only your wishes."

"And One wishes to have a fresh supply of Green Lotus Perfume."

"It's making you sick."

Caroline swatted at Malinkov, smacking her paw against the gash in his helm. "How dare you say that! The Elder himself allows me to use the perfume as I desire!"

"Be that as it may, it is making you sick. You should not be using it."

"I need it, for the ritual," the necromagus mumbled. "I… One has been unable to find the dragon-kin."

"The perfume is not helping you find her either. Have you heard anything from the Order, or the Elder?"

Caroline shook her head no. Slumping, she sat back down at the desk she was working at. Walking over to his mistress, Malinkov reviewed the map she was studying. "It'll still be three days walk to the capital. I will obtain for you more of your perfume there. In the meantime, perhaps you should find out what has happened to the Elder?"

"One knows what has happened."

"And that is?"

"The Rovers attacked our University, plundered it, and then burned it to the ground. It is the only thing I see now, when I sleep. I cannot get the image out of my head without the perfume."

Malinkov was still getting accustomed to Caroline's eccentric fits of emotion. Putting his hand on her shoulder he said, "I will obtain for you that which you desire. Such is my desire."

Looking oddly at his hand, Caroline only replied, "Polydactyl."

Mordai had been seating in the chair in the Dragonesses room waiting for her to arrive and when the door opened he looked up and smiled at her.

Mordai: So are you up to date on current history that you have missed?

Aline: As up to date as I can be Lord Death

Aline said as she wiggled her fingers making her dress disappear exposing her nude body as she headed for the pile of cushions the inn keeper had replaced the bed with, laying down with a regal pose she waited for Mordai to start the conversation.

Mordai had moved on past the need for any physical pleasures but he still took in the sight of her naked body and smiled at her.

Mordai: well like I was saying in the library id because the future of this world need people like you to fight for it...whichever side that might be…

Aline: Well I was on my way to meet someone that was seeking me out when I decided to come here and then I ran into you ...I am wary and tired …if you are going stay in this plane of existence you are welcome to share my accommodations…and we can talk into the night… otherwise …I need sleep

She said crossing her legs, leaning back into the cushions stretching out into a comfortable position not caring that he was there and she was naked clothes were a bothersome formality to her.

Mordai: Well we have all the time in the world to talk...so I will let you rest and come back later when you are rested....all you have to do is say my name and I'll appear...no matter where I am I can hear my name..
Aline smiled at him and shook her head for the lord death was not good at listening to others

Aline: So your going leave me for the night …or would you like to sit and explain to me why you have not contacted people of more influence in this world then the last dragon

Mordai: Dragons are one of the purest sources of magic and power in nearly every world I go too....it only seems logical to speak with you first.

Aline: This is true we are born of the upheaval of magical forces and are created in the strongest sources of such upheavals … and it does not take my kind long to learn everything a world has to offer about magic and its history …I know more about the history of this world then even the so called protectors of its knowledge the Rovers….

She spat out the word rover as if her mouth was full of poison, as she shifted in her spot in agitation.

Mordai: Such is the way it seems for those who put themselves into positions of power...But for now you need to rest....so I will leave you for the night....Goodbye...Aline.

With this he disappears with a light whoosh of air leaving her in the room alone. He floated through the night sky outside of a small town that was about to be raided by a band of Mercenary's. he stooped above the small town seeing the 2 dozen of them sneaking through the dark streets and he landed in front of them and they where started by the absolute quietness of the Black robed figure with the glowing eyes.

With a flash the Mercenary's all vanished; leavening not even a foot print to mark that they had been there...He walked down the single small road in the small town and saw that a young boy had seen him he turned his head and the moon caught his face and he smiled. The boy was not afraid of the figure but watched motionless as the Mordai then turned and walked away leaving the boy there to look out into the night.

Vailen made his way over and sat down.

“Very well your highness, I’ll listen. Please tell me about this dream you have.”

****************************************************************************************************

Back in the Lunar Empire, Emperor Orden didn’t like the recent reports on the invasion of Aordaf. The Daemons had nearly lost most of the Eastern coast of Aordaf. The creatures were slowly moving inland and the reports of strange new fighters leading them was also worrying. Dells had been alerted and had sent a representative over to discuss tactics. So far Pennyork had not responded to Ordens call, which was starting to worry him a bit.

‘Blast it all, Pennyork has a strong army in its own right. We’ll need it to stop this invasion. Why haven’t they responded to my messages,’ thought Orden.

As Orden and the Dells representative was looking over the map of the world the door opened and an elderly Husky walked in and saluted.

“General Abraham of the 9th Legion reporting as ordered your highness.”

Orden smiled and returned the salute.

“Its good to see you again old friend. Is the 9th ready?”

The General smiled and nodded.

“Yes your highness. We set sail for Dells in two days. From there we’ll make our way south, picking up as many soldiers as we can. Once we reach the coast of the Mederain Sea we’ll await ships to fairy us across and from there we’ll be in Aordaf to combat this evil. I must say I’m a little excited. The 9th hasn’t faced anything supernatural in many years. Not since we fought the Dwellers in the southern mountains. I tell you my Lord I still have nightmares about those strange furless creatures with fangs and claws and...”

“Alright General, I get the picture.”

Orden walked up and shook the Generals hand.

“Good luck old friend.”

With that General Abraham took his leave.

The Dells representative looked at the Emperor.

“If I may ask your highness? What makes the 9th Legion so special?”

Orden smiled and looked at the elder Tabby.

“Tell me ambassador Cullath, do you know why the Terians Wall was built?”

Cullath swallowed before answering.

“It was built to keep out the strange undead and monsters that were slowly moving up.”

The Emperor nodded and looked at a map of Wessera.

“The wall took years. Started under the guidance of Emperor Terian, about three hundred year ago, and took three generations to finish. The 9th held the undead at bay all that time. They even pushed the undead back to the Caladon Ruins, where the undead emerged from. For over one hundred fifty years three generations of the 9th fought the undead, keeping them busy till the wall was completed. Once finished they fell back to the gates. Yet, just as the gate was about to close the doors jammed. They fought the undead for three days till the mechanism was fixed and the gate was shut.”

Cullath shook his head.

“I still don’t understand that. I would have sent a bunch of Necromancers down to take control of the undead.”

Orden chuckled.

“We did at first but for some reason these undead would not fall under their control and they were wall consumed.”

He looked at Cullath.

“We didn’t learn till after we found some old books under the Ruins that these undead where not raised by magic.”

He turned back to the map.

“And as such no Necromancer can control them, no matter how powerful. Anyway, the 9th has fought many strange creatures since it’s existence. They fought the undead in the south, Dwellers in the north east, a strange slug race that tried to take over Carla and many other unknown dangers.”

Cullath looked at the Emperor like he was insane.

“But, your highness, save for the undead, I’ve never heard of these creatures that you speak of.”

Orden looked up.

“Because most people don’t know. The 9th has fought many Secret Wars. Wars in dark places where no mere fur should ever enter. They are the wall that allows us to sleep in the night and one of the greatest Legions the Empire has, second to the 1st Legion. If anyone has a chance of facing these creatures they might.”

****************************************************************************************************

Twenty miles outside the town of Talos...

Mitz the Warlock was in a foul mood. No matter what he did the old badger was unable to open a portal to the Demon realm. He was determined though to bring forth a powerful Demon to serve him once again so he tried once more.

At this very moment in the ruins of Jormugandr Philip was looking over his troops and overseeing prisoners. Those of the city that were not killed were being taken away to be converted to either Reavers, Seducers or Juggernauts. He heard a buzzing sound looked up to see a giant dragonfly descend to the ground. Ten clocked figures got off the creature and stood at attention. He smiled as the Overlords reported in. Once done they moved through the city to take command. Philip patted the dragonfly with affection. It took a lot of time to change the small insects into the giant weapons he needed. Months of immersing the small bugs into a slime that allowed them to grow into the massive size that now stood before him. Suddenly he heard a grunt and turned to see one of his Juggernauts disappear through a strange portal...

Mitz saw something come through and thought he still got it.

‘It looks big. Maybe I summoned a demon lord. Haven’t summoned one of those in a while,’ he thought.

He then looked up and saw it wasn’t a demon lord. In fact it wasn’t a demon at all.

“You’re not my minion. What’s the meaning of this?”

The Juggernaut looked down and the old badger and lifted up his giant cleaver.

Mitz cocked his eyes and shook his head.

“Well, this straight out sucks.”

Those would be his last words and he was cut down the middle.

Back in Jormugandr Philip was intrigued by the gate. Up until a few days ago Philip only saw magic as just another power source. Yet, now he was starting to see many possibilities. He turned to a bunch of mages that were being sent away and told the Reavers to stop and bring them forward. He pointed to the portal.

“Keep the gate opened.”

An elder mage looked at Philip and then the gate.

“And if we refuse?”

Philip smiled and pointed to the Reavers, then a Seducer, a Juggernaut and finally back at the portal.

“Your choice.”

The mages just nodded and concentrated on the portal.

Philip then turned to two Overlords and ordered them through the gate. Once on the other side they took command of the Juggernaut. Moments later the gate was widened and Reavers, Juggernauts and Seducers started coming through. One of the Overlords saw the town of Talos and ordered a few Seducers to the town to gather information. At the same time more Reavers began to pour through and gather for the invasion of Wessera.

=HexPoint's Journal, Entry 12=

King Stanistan's Sea Carriage (that's what he calls it) is run by a robust pink dolphin named Captain Mireille, and she is quite a... friendly fur. The truth is that this fin is a total whore and it's taking lot of personal energy to not push a few furs overboard just to take her where she stands. Not because my antlers are itching, but... I just don't know why it's getting so difficult to keep feral behavior out of my thoughts. What I really needed was a copy of some scriptures to replace theones taken from me by that deva bastard chaplain at Fort Oro. I was told that the Sumatrans would have what I was looking for.

I've been feeding Snappy some raw meat I traded a spell skull for in Stanistan's bazaar. He prefers a fresh kill to whats available, but the whales pulling this sea carriage are incredibly fast and we'll reach Sumatranus shortly.

=HexPoint's Journal, Entry 13=

The phans are not as big as the ones on Aordaf, but they are more focused on peace and pleasure and though it is strange to me, I very much like it. I like their smaller ears and colorful attire. And they greet each other with a nod and making a prayer symbol with their paws. This place smells like flowers and fruit.

King Stan gave me a scroll that would help me get through the borders of Chenera, namely the Lou Nu Fortress on the other side of an incredible river. The scroll was picked up by a good natured phan named Gupta who has been my guide here. We took a styracosaurus drawn wagon northwest to the Cheneran fortress and it was during that ride that Gupta confesses to me that he thought to have my pet flytrap battle his huge saurus for a copy of the sciptures I needed. He changed his mind halfway there and gave me a spare Book of Threnodies, and the Book of Rave. He did not give me his last copy of the deva's bible, but I was happy to receive these special gifts.

=HexPoint's Journal, Entry 16=

Well, that was an adventure in and of itself. We switched from one giant Roc bird to another at every stop along the way. A feline Cheneran pilot flew us from Lou Nu Fortress to Xing Gong Fortress. From there, we flew past the southern end of the Dragon Scream Mountains, one of which, the pilot explained, has its top blasted away by the Queen's own magic. It was a frightful sight to behold. We were not allowed to fly directly east to the Capital City, so we changed pilot and roc bird near Tsung Castle.

The country of Chenera is quite beautiful, far more lush and vibrant that my own country. At least for now, before the darkness following the Twilight of an Age engulfs the world and everyfur in it. If the Queen is as wise and powerful as her roc pilots say, then she would understand the dire warnings I feel she needs to hear... I'm doing this beacuse Godis died saving me from myself. I can't repay her ghost any other way. Perhaps, if she already knows of this, then I could render my services to her for the benefit of... of... surviving the darkness Godis and my other furiends did not.

I really miss having friends besides Snappy. I'm still mourning their deaths. I know they're dead. The oracles of the stars don't lie. Sometimes I wonder why I was born in this Age. I wonder if I would've been so different from now if I had been born elsewhere, maybe as a daeva.

But, I'm already here, outside the fancy gates of the Capital City of Shou Kai, waiting for an audience with the Queen herself. That roc was incredibly fast! I've already given King Stan's scroll to a guard here. But it's been awhile now, and I haven't received word of wether or not I'd have audience with the Queen. She, and her kingdom, must be warned of what is inevitably going to happen here.

Also, the full moon is tomorrow. My shield spell will be complete then. It will be magnificent. Perhaps the Queen will help me test it before the 'consuming blackness' the prophets warned us about will come here. The blue daemon caribou pet Snappy and stood to look upinto the heavens. "I sincerely hope this works, Katmir. I'm living the rest of my life to make up for yours, and Connie's, and Tuscan's. And especially Godis, who liberated me."

"trrrrrSNAPppurrr..!

"And for you, too Snappy. For... peace.", he said, patiently waiting outside the immense gates of the Chenerean Capital City of Shou Kai - seeking audience with Queen Liu Lu. Her kingdom was in great danger. The prophets knew this many, many centuries ago, and so sould she.

Liu Lu smiled.

"No, this is not my dream it was a dream I have had during a long slumber."

She sighed, and then closing her eyes making sure she had remembered all the details, began to tell Veilen her dream.

"It started, with a map of the world, on this map there where many beasts of different sizes and shapes, some where sleeping, some where fighting. Though all was a haze, except for three beasts that where bigger than all the rest. One was a great winged Pegasus, it shined bright like the sun, it stood tall and proud, and had a crown of roses on it's head. The other was a huge red Bull, with black eyes, and horns of fire. These two beasts where fighting, and it seemed that they where at a stalemate. Then, I looked to the east and there was a tiger with 8 eyes, and it seemed the tiger was all seeing, and it shot a laser into the mountain range. It was strong it was mighty, however it seemed to be made of four pieces. Now I saw the sun rise and set, how many times, I cannot remember. Though one day the sun stopped midday, all the creatures where doing what they had done for years, and the Pegasus and Bull still fought, and the Tiger still stood still. As far as I could tell it was waiting for it's chance to strike, but then out of the map came a piercing blackness. it attacked the weaker beasts first, and easily crushed them, this blackness had no shape, nor form all it did was envelop all the beasts, and it's reach seemed to spread across the map. Then the three beasts I had described where left, they stood divided, and the bull struck first, it fought bravely but was defeated, the same happened with the Pegasus, they both attacked at different times, and attacked alone, as far as I can tell this is what brought them to their defeat. Then, the Tiger was all that was left, all 8 of it's eyes shot it's lasers, and it's great and mighty fangs dug deep into the monster, but eventually it to was destroyed."

Liu Lu sat there, and then opened her eyes, she looked at Veilen coldly.

"I believe, somewhat this dream, is what is to come to pass, should this world stand divided. Though, I am for the most part frightened, and was hoping that you might give me more insight on this..dream."

Liu Lu looked at Veilen unsure, but she knew he could help, then a assistant entered.

"Another requires your presence my lady."

Liu Lu grinned,

"Have him sit outside the chamber, if he has any mounts allow him to do what he will with it."

The assistant ran off to tell the visitor what to do, and Liu Lu's sharp eyes returned to Veilen, awaiting his response.

Aline got comfortable in her pile of cushions and started meditating she didn’t ever actually sleep this way she could slip into the dream realm to find out what’s been disturbing her mind for the last few days. What she found was great tears in the walls of the realm, upon further inspection she found that it was from someone using the one herb she hated above all others Green lotus perfume to enter the realm. Following the tears she came upon the one that had called to her.

“So this is her great memory? She must really need me”

“her ability to find us in this realm the first time was due to your influx of emotion and she’s been trying to find you ever since….using that disgusting stuff …you must get to her and heal her soon or she will be so sick and out of her mind she will be nothing to care about”

Aline nodded her other half coping her like a mirror image, if one had been watching them they would be able to tell that everything Aline did the other did also. Like she was next to a mirror even their breathing was the same, timed exactly.

“I shall leave in the morning to help her but for now I shall imprint a knowledge in her mind that I am coming to her”

Reaching out through the tear in the realm Aline’s hand looking ghostly touched Caroline’s forehead just between her eyes she gave her the peace of mind that she was heading towards Caroline, Aline also gave Caroline much of her energy and life force knowing she would regain it as soon as she was out of range.

The capitol city was abuzz with activity. Thousands of people packed the pumice-stone, paved paths of the port-city. All sorts of rumors were being spread around the metropolis. Shopkeepers sold rumors to attract patrons. Peddlers of fruits and vegetables grew tales as long as the night sky. Hawkers and demagogues heralded the end of the world. Clergymen foretold stories of horrible armies of the south. Even sellers of flesh and blood had information about the world events. Newsprint and leaflets proclaimed it was the end of times. It was hard to determine anything true about any of the rumors.

Caroline staggered, painfully walking down the cobblestone avenue. Her silk slippered feet dragged, snapping the seams and stitches of her expensive shoes. Most of her weight was being supported by her servant, Malinkov. He even wore her agebone staff on his back, after the fourth time she dropped it in the city. Cold, heavy, drops of sweat trickled across her skin and fur. Her hands twitched nervously. Her breath was labored, as if she was forcing herself to continue to breathe through her nose. Malinkov guided his charge as best as he could in her current state. If she stayed too long in one spot, her life-leech would become obvious. And with the city on the edge of panic from the rumor mill, he didn't need a mob of angry citizens after him. He pondered if it would be better to let the symptoms of withdraw run their course, or obtain for her the perfume.

"The docks," slurred Caroline, from behind her porcelain mask. She pulled on his sleeve like a child would.

"Mistress?" replied the armored bodyguard.

"We… must get to… the docks. Obtain… passage to the East. She's in the East."

"With all the hurly-burly going on in the city, passage East will be expensive… if it's even available."

"We must… go East! She's East…" half snarled, and coughed the wolverine necro-magi.

"What about your perfume?"

"The… lotus is… purer in… the East…"

"And how will we pay for this trip? Our funds are running out, and we haven't recovered any from the Order."

"If… need be… I have… some abilities… I can offer…"

Malinkov's eyes narrowed behind his own porcelain mask. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that."

Caroline chuckled, and then started to cough. Once the dry hacking subsided, she quietly said, "I'm… not a… marionette… Malinkov."

Vailen leaned forward and pondered aloud.

“Hmm, three beasts divided. Each one extremely powerful. Two always at war, one always watching. A darkness slowly envelops the world and the divided beasts fall. This sounds very similar to a certain passage in the book of Rave.”

He looked at Liu Lu.

“Most people know by now that the Age of Dawn is drawing to a close. However, most don’t take the ancient Prophecies very seriously anymore. I on the other hand do. Now, I’m no priest but I have read the Book of Rave. It speaks of a time when a great darkness will envelop the world and that if nations stay divided the world will fall. I don’t know who the Tiger might signify but the Pegasus and the Bull could signify the Devas and Daemons. Those two, even after the Great War, have continued to fight one another. They have large armies and fellowships and are always at a stalemate.”

Vailen sighed and leaned back.

“I believe your highness that the Twilight of the Age has begun. The question is, what or who is this Darkness? Also, if the Book of Rave is true, who are the Champions that are going to either save or condemn the world?”

****************************************************************************************************
Crystal healed Strauss as best she could be he needed a proper healer to help him. She looked up into the sky and sighed. It had been several hours since Krimlach had left for the coast. She knew that Lunarian merchant ships would be around, the empire had shipping all over the world. Suddenly she heard some noises and picked up her weapon and prepared to fight. She relaxed when she saw five figure coming towards her. One of the figures she recognized.

The older looking squirrel stepped forward and bowed.

“Your highness, thank the Goddess we found you. We must get you out of here quickly.”

Crystal nodded.

“Thank you Captain Stonner. Please help me with Strauss and we’ll be on our way.”

The captain and his crew were shocked at her request.

“But my lady...”

“No buts captain, I have my reasons. Please, help me.”

Sighing Captain Stonner nodded and they helped Strauss to his feet. An hour later they were on board Stonner’s ship and where on their way. Crystal informed the Captain on what happened. She also requested a copy of the Book of Rave. She needed to see something.

With the book in hand she went checked on Strauss. The Daemon was bandaged and was being well cared for. He looked up and smiled at her. She leaned down and gave him a kiss.

“Sleep my love, you need to regain your strength.”

Strauss nodded and closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Crystal opened the book up and began to search through the passages. She new this was the Darkness that Rave spoke of but she needed to confirm something else. Thats when she found it.

‘In the final hours of the Forgotten Age the great lady Lunar led the People of Stars against the great terror. The the fought against them. Beings of near perfect build. Who’s bodies would be the envy of all. Yet, they were completely evil. They turned those that they captured into hideous monstrosities. No mater how many times they were struck nothing to kill them. Only Lunar and the People of Stars could harm them. When the battle was over only Lunar remained. She would knelt beside that last of her allies. This last Star only smiled and said it was done. Only one of their kind remained and would wait when it was needed...’

She closed the book and sighed.

‘So, the Darkness has come. An enemy so great that it took the power of Lunar and these People of the Stars to face them. Yet, one is left. Perhaps that is what we need to find. We’ll need all the help we can get.’

She looked at the sleep Strauss and reached out to gently take his hand. They had to find this last Star and hope it would be enough to end the Darkness.

Meanwhile on the ships deck. Krimlach was watching the coast slowly disappearing. Captain Sonner approached the bat and also looked out.

“First time away from you homeland?”

Krimlach nodded, leaned forward and suddenly broke down.

“They out of no where captain. We fought them and killed many of them *Sniff* and to see my master like that, one of the greatest Daemons ever born. How can we beat them?”

Stonner sighed and looked up at the stars.

“I don’t know Krimlach, but the Lunar Empire is on the move. Even no the 9th Legion is on its way. They’ll arrive in a few weeks. They’ve faced many dangers. Dangers that no one else should know... I still have nightmares.”

Krimlach looked at Stonner.

“You were a soldier of the Lunar Empire?”

Stonner smiled and nodded.

“I was with the 9th. Let me tell you Krimlach of all the Legions the 9th has faced many dangers. Some, you couldn’t even imagine. The 9th is the best Legion, second only to the 1st. So far these creatures have faced disorganized groups. Lets see them face off against some of the greatest fighters the world has ever seen.”

Both looked back towards the shore as it slowly disappeared as they made their way north.

Fen wanted to go celebrate Draco’s departure but was stuck on the Kilos Farm with his older brother till their parents came home. He was putting some hay in the barn and wandered where his brother was when he heard a sound.

“Dean, is that you back there,’ called the young Cougar.

He made his way to the back of the barn. The noise sounded like moaning. Whatever it was it was coming from behind a hay pile. Fen walked around and what he saw almost made his eyes pop out. There was his brother have sex with a strange Skunk in a harem outfit. Unable to take his eye’s off Fen back up a bit and hid behind some hay. He couldn’t help but lick his lips as he watched his older brother make love to the gorgeous fem.

‘Why is her eye’s covered? Oh well...’

Before he could finish his thought Fen saw something strange happening to his brother. Dean chest began to slowly bulge out, his hair began to grow longer his leg and hips began to get more of a feminine shape.

“What the...”

Fen never got to finish as he felt some hands on him. He turned around and was soon be kissed by a beautiful otter fem. Lost in the moment he kissed back and embraced her. She slowly moved her hands up his back to return the embrace.

The parents had returned a few hours later. They looked around and wandered where their sons were. They never saw the Reavers creep up to them... moments later their bodies where lying in front of their home. The Overlords looked around and decided to use the farm as their staging ground. They turned around and both smiled at the four seducers. The Skunk and Otter just smiled seductively as the caressed their new sisters. Fen and Dean, now Faira and Dana, also smiled at the Overlords as they held their sisters close.

“Good, go inside and get something on. You’ll have a mission soon enough.”

Nodding Faira and Dana entered the house with the Skunk, Maia, and the Otter, Azur, close behind to help them.

The Overlord chuckled on how easy this was going to be. A Dragonfly landed and dropped over some more troops. Before it took off one of the Overlords put a message in a pouch to give to Philip.

The two Overlord watched as the Dragonfly took off. The Ferret turned to his brother, a Lynx and nodded.

“Well Jax, shall we begin?”

“Yes Jonas, the master will not want us to dally.”

They soon turned towards the growing number of Reavers. In all there was now over ten thousand Reavers, Seducers, and Juggernauts amassing at the Farm. The Town of Talos was less then an hour away. In a few minutes they would begin their attack.

Unknown to them the the Kilos family had a younger son who saw everything and had slipped away. He was riding on his fathers horse, tears flowing down his face, and was riding as fast as he could to Talos to warn them of what’s coming.

At this very moment a battalion from the Lunar 3rd Calvary was doing a patrol in the area. They decided to stop by Talos for a bit and see how everyone was doing. The people of Talos welcomed them and asked them if they wished to join in the festivities. A great champion was leaving soon and they were giving him a major send off. Colonel Bass, a middle age wolverine, just chuckled and shook his head.

“Thank you but no. We’ll only stop by long enough to water and feed our Frost Wolves, and ourselves, and then be on our way.”

HexPoint groomed Snappy by hand while he waited for an audience with Queen Liu Lu in a grand ornate antechamber.

"The stars are correct... Some of the others mentioned in the prophecies of this Age are already here. You'll fight alongside me to the end, right Snappy?"

"tttrrrrrSNAPppurrr..!"

"Damn right, friend."

Liu Lu sighed, and nodded.

"I see...."

Liu Lu sat in her chair and thought for a few seconds. She knew full well that the Tiger was her forces, and that not even the power of pre-world tech could stop this darkness. After a few minutes of heavy thought, she sat up and smiled.

"We.. We!!will be the champions, We are the ones who have ruled the very surface of this Earth sinc ethe day of it's creation . Nothing has destroyed us yet, and we have faced the end of the old world and lived, and we shall face the end of this world and survive yet again!!."

Liu Lu rose out of her seat, and walked slowly across the room. Turning to Veilen she smiled.

"We must unite under one banner, My kingdom with my laser, The Devas with the power of light, and the Daemons with their armies of darkness, and with all the might of a million nations under our command. We will face this mighty threat.... Veilen, I will need your help. I will not sit idly and watch my world fall before me."

Turning to the other assistant.

"Bring in the other who requests a audience with me. If he wishes to speak, he will speak to me, and my newest adviser."

And under Liu Lu's breath she grinned and whispered, while passing a devious glance at Veilen.

"And my new consort."

Liu Lu had to admit she found a attraction to the Wolf. He seemed to have a aura about him that she found overwhelming. Since she first laid eyes on the fur. She seemed to be entranced by him. As she found it ever harder to take her strong and mighty gaze off of him.

"I will need you very much so Veilen. If you care for this world, you will help me unite the nations under one banner. We will meet this threat.... and since you are so wise. Are there any other tools we can use to stop the darkness?"

Liu Lu asked, smiling at Veilen. In the meantime the assistant ran off and gabbed HexPoint, and brought him into the Queens chamber. Liu Lu had walked up the mighty stone steps of her throne, and sat down. As the blossoms Veilen had blown around her, still lay on the floor and chair.

"Welcome fellow traveler, what is it that you would like to speak with me about today, I apologize for the inconvenience, and fior the possible future discussions that me and my adviser will soon be having in your presence. Though feel free to speak before me, I am eager to hear your tale."
