For now Lancelot lives in a rented room at one of the inns in Bon Bon ( Maybe the one Lidia works in if she wants to join my RP thread? ^_^), but once he finds employment and a steady lover he will probably find himself a nice little apartment to live in. His money will last him quite a while though as he came to Bon Bon pretty well finacially prepared.

Feingo lives in the two room apartment above his shop. The place is rather simple, not a whole lot of frills, old handmade oak furniture, some old photographs and war memoirs decorating the walls. Everything is kept in its place, almost in an OCD manner, that is unless it's the morning after one of his "nights". In that case, it's God's guess where anything could be.

Well, the "War of Currents" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_Currents) between Edison's Direct Current and Tesla's Alternating Current was not even ten years old by 1895 so it's not all that surprising that many places wouldn't have access to their own electrical powerplants yet.

And great use of "expatriate", I love that word. It doesn't have a chance to get used often enough in conversation. Smile

An ol' run-down shack outside of town.

From reading the comics I imagined Bon Bon to be a nestled snugly in the mountains, perhaps in a river valley large enough to have farmsteads and outlying houses surrounding the town proper.

Alexi operates a gelato bar called "Alexi's Sweets" in the business district of town. A "Baker Wanted" sign is always hanging in the front window. His studio apartment is located above the shop, where he has several drawings, littered parchment and papers strewn about his desk, as well as a large bed with earthen cotton sheets. He has an architects desk, with a large candel lamp with a polished tin reflector attached to it to serve as a light at night. Around the room, he has manuscripts, drawings, and various other reference material stacked.
In the rear of the shop behind the bar, he has an ice closet, which he keeps the giant ice blocks to make his gelato. He drains the melted water every morning before sunrise and replaces the large blocks of ice when necessary by carrying them on his back from the market instead of using a cart. He has become friends with the local whores including, Loucille Brown, who works on the street he lives, and lets them operate out of his shop, paying them a small hand to help him advertise.

*quirks an eyebrow.* Getting kinky on us doctor? Anyway back on subject. Jerin doesn't have a place to stay as of now, partly due to lack of local currency, and partly due to his roving nature, so he's mostly sleeping in back alleys, and when he feels the need to wash up , hoofing it over to the river and washing down.

Whether not not it's coastal Is a good question, since it determines whether a trip into town for Captain Blackwing is a matter of minutes, hours, or days.

((Symphony, something I've been wondering about your house/home that you've invisioned for Constance. Did you say if it has a conservatory or not? And, does Constance still get voice/music lessons? I would think it would freaking awesome if Constance has her own studio/conservatory room within the house. It could have all sorts of string and harpsichord instruments, as well as portraits of classice and baroque composers.

Anyhows, just something that i thought about on the flight home.))

I can't say that I've given much thought to her having a stuido, although I guess it would make sense. She doesn't get singing lessons anymore, but she does teach on her own from time to time, so a studio would probably be nice. I've been toying with the idea of her learning to play the harp as well, and she does have a lot of interest in music and other musicians/composers as well.

You mentioned electricity and indoor plumbimg earlier. It wasn't something I had considered adding when I wrote how Constance lives. I'd say that she doesn't have electricity, but I do picture her having a nice bathtub and various other facilities reguiring inddor plumbing. Smile

It seems like there's a lot I can add to Constance's home, seeing all these great descriptions and ides here.

Silvador has a small house on the edge of BonBon. Working at the local mines he is capable of afford a grander house but prefers a simpler, more humble home.

Two bedrooms, one bathroom, separate toilet, lounge openly connected to the kitchen and through double doors a dining room with a small fireplace. Out the front is a small front yard that is empty with low cut grass and a simple path leading to the light blue front door. The house itself is a dirty white with dark blue tiles on the roof.

I always though bon bon is secluded, so it has to be in a countryside area in the mountainous region I bet!

kinda like a....resort

((Well, consider my morbid curiosity peaked, Symphony, as I keep coming back to this topic. Anyhows, some other things I thought about, if you really want to just detail the bejiminies out of your house.

1) I think I've been the only one to mention chimney's and fireplaces. You might want to consider something like that for your estate as well. Fireplaces tended to be in bedrooms, or large gathering rooms.

2) Wallpaper or paneling. Paneling tends to lead to a darker, more masculine room, while wallpaper can do either. If it is heavy-velvet, darker colored paper, it'll make the room darker, and feel a bit smaller. If the paper is a lighter color, it'll open up the room, and make the room feel larger.

3) Windows and stained glass. Windows, while getting a bit more affordable, still tended to be considered a luxury, if they actually had glass in them. Even more so, if the glass was stained.

4) Celling murals. I can just immagine some of the rooms in Constance's estate having murals painted onto the cellings. Like clouds and cherubs for the conservatory... or maybe some tree branches and leaves for a sun room or so.

5) "Accessory" buildings. Most estates separated some buildings from the house. For example, kitchens might be in an outside building, to keep the house from getting to hot because of the kitchen, or having a lingering bad smell. Same goes for carriage/stable houses as well. Servants quarters tende to be upstairs, top floor, or separate from the house as well.

6) A "name". Estates tended to have names associated with them, usually something that the owners found important or enjoyed. So, for now, I'll just call your estate, Chateau Mayflower. Simple, and a bit narcissistic, but it does fit.

7) Gardens and hedge mazes. Both were considered "feminine", and I believe that the hedge mazes were popular in the late 1800s early 1900s as well. Not to mention the... possibilities of what happens to couples as they get lost in the maze.

I'm really getting into the idea of Chateau Mayflower.))

Wow, Caroline. Don't you think that you should change your fursona's occupation to interior decorator? Very Happy

Those are really some nice ideas. The only one I've thought of before is the hedge maze. I just never got around to actually adding it to the description. Your ideas are really very nice. I simply haven't been able to get into that much detail on this myself.

Maybe I should just hire you to do all my decorating and to design all the finer details of Chateau Mayflower(I really like that name BTW, though I'm not sure if Constance's house is big enough to be called something like that).

Like Henk Elizabeth lives currently at Miss Scorpia's manor, in one of the many guest rooms as of now. Even though she comes from a fairly wealth family, she only would want a small one or two story cottage in or around Bon Bon. But for the time being she resides in the manor.

((More stuff I thought about for Chateau Mayflower.

You know, Symphony, Constance seems like a girl that enjoys a good bath, so, instead of a normal bathtub, Chateau Mayflower should have like a Roman Bath, or a Hot Springs kinda bathing area. A huge, grand room, All tiled up... large, heated tub the size of a swimming pool... roman collums, that sort of thing. I think it would work awesomely, and I can totally see Chateau Mayflower having one. The tiles could be like some dreamy, castle-in-the-clouds mosaic... you could even adorn the place with hanging incense braziers or exotic, jungle flowers. Shoot, you could even have a glass-and-iron decorative celing to allow for natural light... and to allow your adoring fans a chance to peek in on you in the bath.

Anyhow, I really like the idea of a Roman-style bath chamber in Chateau Mayflower.))

I love this idea, Caroline! It's wonderfully classy and exotic, and it fits Constance perfectly in a very erotic way. I had just thought of her having a regular bathroom with a bathtub, and the outdoor pool of course, but now I can really picture this as part of her home, and how she might relax there. Perhaps in company of others Curious

You have some awesome ideas. I'm really getting a lot of inspiration on how Constance's home might look. Very Happy
