Questions about the story

I hope you won't mind me asking these but I have been wondering if in the comic in the future will we learn why Edelweiss left BonBon and will she ever reappear in the town? Another question is if Simon Blue was once the town's mayor what are his reasons for pretty much cutting himself off from it? I know one reason is to protect Mary from outside influences but something tells me there is another reason. Once again I hope you don't mind me asking these as the story is very well done.

You grasped an important matter and you're on the right path because you pay attention to the hints that you found up to now; knowing that you're interested in the story, other than the good sex, makes me glad!
Yes, there is a strong link from the past between these four characters, Edelweiss, Betty, Mary and Simon; a great secret plot that involves the town of Bon Bon itself and forces Simon to stay in that place that he suddenly started to hate !

Oh come now Vanessa. I know I'm here for more than just the sex. The story is quite intriguing.

It recalls me of a flyer when I was in training for the military. It was actually about conduct around the training area, but in big bold words it started with"SEX now that I have your attention..." Which is how you could see this site. It blinds you with spectacle and skin, and then your hooked and can't wait til the next page.

This is more speculation than anything else but it seems that Mary Blue was born in Bon Bon. Which leads me to believe that her mother was a citizen of Bon Bon. I want to know who Mary’s mother is. I don’t think that it is Edelweiss. Edelweiss would not have left if she had been Mary’s mother.

Somehow I feel that the relationship between Simon and his distaste for Bon Bon is directly related to Mary’s mother.

Anyway, I may be completely wrong but it is all speculation anyway.

The story itself holds my interests far more than the sex itself. The art is beautifully drawn, the characters are bright and lucrative to the plot, and there is even a subtle subtexts that represents the community's devotion to the site.

Vanessa, what you have here is not just porn. Porn is just sex with dialog latched onto it. You are creating art. Yes, it has sex in it, good sex, but the sex is secondary. Yes, at first I was drawn to PBB for the sex, but I stay for the story. It's well thought out and makes me want to keep reading and see what happens. It's the story that makes me want to see Betty happy. It's the story that makes me want to see Red get castrated. It's the story that makes me want to keep reading and it's the story that makes me want to pay $30 a month rather than get it for free. I believe in rewarding great artwork and what you have here is a magnificent balance of riveting plot and pleasing 'visual effects'. I find it hard to believe that more than 30% of people here are just here for the sex. I would not be surprised to find that less than 2% are here just for the sex.

As long as you continue to craft this piece of art I will be here to give you my money for a job more than well done. Don't sell yourself short in thinking we are just here for the sex. We're here for art.

True it's a lot of time but I noticed that there was no rules against necromancy here and the subject is still a topical subject three years later. Also if we can trust the cover and the letter that keep Simon in is safe, I said that we are about to learn more data about therelation between Elderweiss and Simon or maybe the reason why she got kicked out of the town.

I'm up there with Silvador. I first joined this site back in June of 2006 right after i turned 18. Yes i came here at first because it was an adult site, but i couldn't afford to stick around unfortunately. When i finally came back here three years later, it wasn't for the sex, but rather it was because if there's one thing i find instatiably addicting its a good story, and I just had to get more of Vanessa's wonderful writing.

I suppose I can relate myself to both Silvador and Jerin. I was 22 when I first joined this sight more than a year ago (hard for me even to believe how much time has passed so quickly) and I orriginally just happened to stumble across this sight by chance. Gotta love Google for that. But what made me choose to actually join was a combination of both an in depth story, and the spectacular artwork that came along with it. Needless to say, I've been coming back ever since.

((Well, being as we've re-visited this thread, here are my two pennies.

I enjoy both parts of it. I think Vanessa et all have managed to get the right balance of story content to eros content. IMHO, wow I haven't used that acronym in a while, this is one of the biggest things other adult comics sometimes miss, or fall short on. I think Vanessa was awesome about how, upfront, she said that PBB was a story... not just a set of short eros-style vingettes. I enjoy how the story unfolds, and I look forward to how Vanessa blends in the sexual scenes into the story. Sometimes they are for fun, such as with Violet and William in the bath. Sometimes they are out of spite, such as Betty wishing to hurt Red. They fit. And I like it.

To be even more direct, if PBB was just a subscription comic without any sassy bits, I'd still subscrive and read it. I hope it doesn't become just that, because I like how Vanessa draws the act of sex. She makes it fun.

For a contrasting example, I like the art-style of Jordi from Enchantae... but I feel he spends way to much time on the naughty-naughty scenes, and not enough time with an actual story. And... in doing so it has made me lose interest in it. I think he tries too hard with the adult content, and not enough with the story content. If Enchantae was just listed as a bunch of short, sexy, comics, it would have worked fine. But... being as it is listed as a story, it trips up on itself.

For a second example, I like Poe from Explotation Now. Being a fan of anime/mange helped. Poe started off with just a bunch of short vingette's and then evolved them into a story. So... I liked that. His short tales grew into a story, and I think he did them pretty well. And Poe's story switched from a racy-sexy style, to more of a dark, dramatic, tale. Shoot, I even bought the paperback of Exploitation Now.

Anyway, point being on this long ramble, to me, Vanessa set off with making a tail of romance (and kudos to those of you who get the Randy IV inspired pun) for adults. And I feel she has succeded.

Considering that I have taken to writing erotic stories as a hobby, I can honestly say that you make perfect sense Caroline. Sex is a good thing to view, but since getting the net about 3 years ago and submerging myself in the vast world of porn, I've grown to find less exciting. I can honestly say that if a random hot chic jumped in front of me and started stripping, I would glance at her once and keep walking. My point here is that too much sex gets to the point where it loses it's appeal and becomes just another thing in the average world of crap.

Putting a good storyline on top of the sex and making it still actually worth reading well after the first couple of chapters makes sure that things stay interesting. One needs variety in their life to keep entertained, a change of scenery makes you remember what you enjoy so much about other things when you go back.

Sex with little or no plot is just sex and gets old fast.
Sex with a decent plot is art.
A decent plot with sex is art that has been enhanced.

I agree with Caroline; if the sex was reduced or even stopped, I would miss it greatly, but I would not leave because there would be a great story left behind and a great story is always worth my time.

I have to agree with everyone who likes Miss Vanessa's art!
Even though I am not a very familiar face around here, I have to say that Miss Vanessa's art is worth every penny that I'm paying for my membership here. Sadly there are many people out there who are not interested in art as much all of you are. But in the end is good to know that everyone here is more excited about the story Miss Vanessa is trying to display in her comic rather than erotic content. This has also inspired me to go back to doing something I loved to do when I was a kid, and that is drawing. Maybe I'll even regain that talent I use to have which is now gone... and now is replaced with writing.

Keep up the good work Miss Vanessa!
