((Okay, now that I have your attention, I'm back from vacation Smile

And I'm back to work Sad

Anyway, things I learned while vacationing in North Dakota:

1) If your head is bald, wear a hat... or at least don't forget your wig. Um... seriously... not toupee... wig. If you're curious, let me know, and I'll tell you about my wig.

2) Canadian border guards are a lot nicer than American border guards

3) Buffalo are HUGE! H-U-G-E!!! and stinky too...

4) Canadian's really hate it when you butcher French

5) Canadian's hate it when you call their money, "Monopoly money"

6) In North Dakota there are miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles.

All-in-all, my vacation was totally different than I expected. And now I'm back.))

Considering it wasn't that long ago that the Canadian Dollar was worth more than the US Dollar, I can see why they would get a little miffed... then again, they call their $1 and $2 coins, respectively, the "Loonie" and the "Toonie", so it's sort of hypocritical on the part of the Canucks to be mad...

BTW, welcome back kiddo

Im waiting for the inevitable "In Canada, milk comes in bags!" joke. My people prefer the cheaper method of transporting our delicious milk! Curse you intolerant yanks!!!

Also, welcome back Caroline. If you think North Dakota has nothing, you should see Saskatchewan, the only place in the world where you can watch your dog run away for three weeks.

Also, be thank full that you didnt make an ass out of your self like i did by singing the Tiny Toon's song when some one is explaining about the one and two doller coins. To me, it was like a big round behind that beged to be kicked.

Welcome back Caroline. How was your trip, overall? I can't say I remember the few times I've been to Canada butI know all about it from watching TV! Very Happy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2talMZz34xg from 5:55 to 6:25 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnULS_KfCWE&feature=related from 4:52 to 5:22 are probably some of the best examples of actual Canadian behavior. Very Happy

Did you encounter anything like that?

Pfft.. only eastern Canadians dislike mangled french.. western Canadians can't understand it at the best of times. Wink

The Loonie name stuck because it has a picture of a loon on it. (Also, according to some, because the current Prime Minister "Loony Mulroney" pushed it through, but that's more of a retcon Wink ). The toonie won over such nicknames as the "bear-y" just as a matter of following on (Loony is one dollar, toonie is two Wink ).

Glad you had fun, at least! I'll be visiting the mother country myself next week.

Welcome back.
I know all about number 1, not the wig part but sunburnt heads are not fun.

I shaved my head for about a year back in college, but I never had any problems with sunburns. It was the cold, once the seasons turned to autumn and winter, when I really missed having a covering of hair on my scalp. Now that I've grown my hair long, I have the opposite problem: plenty of insulation in the winter, but too hot during the summer.

I've been to Niagra Falls, Canada, and I remember the Loonie and Toonie coins that we respectively held with us when we went around during our vacation. Its nice to see you back, hope you did'nt get chapped lips like I did, that stuff is painful.

((To Aaron Thom:

I went to Grand Rapids, and then made a bunch of day-driving trips around the area.

To xxthalexx:

I s'posse I did. *shrug* I dunno... Canada just kinda seems like Puerto Rico to me... in that it is really Americanized, but they refuse to admit it or something... and not as muggy.

To Symphony and MLock:

Well... it started out as a hair-styling gone wrong. I decided to save some money, and trim my own hair... and then the bangs were too long... and then the one side didn't match up... and then I cut a diagonal instead of a straight line... and next thing I know I was calling up my friend Justin and asking him, "can you help me shave myself bald", as I didn't want to end up looking like Sinead O'Conner, or have a zillion little red-zit-bumps on my head. (though, Justin didn't quite know how to take the request the first time he heard me.)

Now, that was a few months ago. I goto work, and... after a few days, my supervisor lets me know that my haircut is unacceptable, and that I had to get a wig... which kinda upset me, so I got a blue-anime-esq-one... mostly because I kinda like KOS-MOS and Lenneth Valkyrie... So... the blue-wig doesn't go over well at work. Meantime, my hair slowly starts to grow back, and I just can't keep from thinking it looks so ugly all short and spikey... so I keep shaving it bald again.... which, in turn, keeps me having to wear a wig to work. So I buy a 2nd wig, of plain-old brown hair... that kinda matched what my hair looked like prior to me trying to style it.

Now fast-forward to my vacation. I pack up, and totally forget to pack the wig in my day-bag... which, in turn, gives my head a serious case of sunburn-peel.

And I still can't keep myself from reshaving my head bald... if I could just wait it out, my hair would grow back, but it looks sooooooooo ugly and bleh-buzz-boycut.

So... there is my wig story.))

I dunno, I've seen lots of girls with short, "boyish" haircuts that look really cute and sexy... for example, I though Natalie Portman looked great with short, spikey hair right after she shaved her head for V for Vendetta.

*Pouts a bit as she buttons her top back on.* And here you had my hopes up Caroline. Razz

Hairstyles vary. There are some who look good with it, and some that shouldn't ever try it.

Though if you want to have *any* hairstyle, you're just going to have to suffer through it growing again, Caroline. Razz

Though I will say that the buzzcut look can look pretty nice on some woman. Much more than baldness, at least. Could never like that look on me or women, personally.

((To Johnny:

"Boyish" is one thing. I already look boyish enough that I don't want the haircut to completely hide any sort of femininity I do have Sad And, I don't want to be accused of being a dyke either. I can find girls pretty and beautiful, yes, but... I do kinda like the boys.

To Kommy:

I know, I know... it just looks so ugly when it gets to about 3/4", (or approx 2 cm for you science types)... and I get to the point I can't stand it anymore, even when I'm hiding it under the wig, that I just go and shave it again... which doesn't help any. I have gotten it to be a full inch (2.54 cm), but even then I just couldn't stand the "spiky-boy-cut" look of it.

To Mystic:

....I may be easy, but I'm sure not cheap. It'll take more than a few buttons undone... um... anyway, sorry about getting your hopes up. If nothing else, I thought your line of gentleman callers was pretty endless ;P ))

Its alright hun. We all know about women and alcohol and bringing out the lady lover in each straight woman. Now about that long list of callers. There's an endless list of men who want to get in my pants, but that doesn't mean the all have access to the VIP room you see. *Goes on explaining a long, lengthy and redundant speech about it while using Tic-Tacs, the stock market, and the great California Gold Rush as analogies.*

Well, as long as it's for educational purposes, right? Laughing *quickly grabs the black cat by her waist, then lets one hand gently trail down over her hip and along the smooth thigh wrapped around his leg*

That a boy. *Gives him a gentle pat on his cheek and a tighter squeeze with her thigh.* Now be ready to catch me. *She says with a bit of warning as she goes to raise the other leg about him.*
