|
|
After nearly two years, the time for commission from Zone to enter production is nigh. Having been so long, I want to verify the donations we have, as well as any new ones that would like to participate.
First, an explanation:
About 2 years ago, I pushed through a community paid commission for a ZONE Archives interactive flash movie based on PBB. The scene was selected by vote, the winner being Violet Berry on top with Labrn. At the time, the cost to produce the commission was around $500-600, which amongst the various members was successfully pledged. Then we waited. And waited. AND WAITED. Finally, our turn is coming up, and unfortunately some of the members who pledged back then have either become inactive or no longer have the disposable income to put toward this project.
To that end, I am canvassing for pledges again to the tune of over $600 to cover any changes in the price that may occur based on the content requested for the commission.
So, if you wish to pledge, please reply in the following format:
The reason I am excluding non-royal members is because this commission will more than likely be placed in the Royal Members area, and it wouldn't be fair for casual members to contribute to something that they cannot enjoy.

This is very good news, Gantros! Unfortunatly, I, for one, am unable to make a donation at this time. Life getting in the way, I'm sure many of you can understand. I should be able to soon. But until then, as compensation, I will keep a record of who makes a donation, when they make a donation and in what amount. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

The details haven't been given yet, but once Zone get s the ball rolling, the plan was to send the money to Ronald via Paypal, who would then send it to Zone's Paypal account. For now though, I'm just gathering commitments, and the actual transaction will come later. _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. That's Wonderful!
Is fantastic that Zone is now starting on making a flash of Ms. Violet Berry and Mr. Labrn. :3
I wouldn't mind donating some to the commission, but I will wait until Mr. Gantros tells us when the donation will be open. ^w^ |

I think the point is being missed here, I'm trying to get people to pledge now so I have an idea of what we will have to work with in case the original design of the scene costs more than was originally estimated. No money will actually change hands until the work is ready to begin production. I need people to say ' I will pledge x amount of dollars '. _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. No, this is going to be fully interactive, hence the cost _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. It is truly a rare thing when one can achieve both. But given the choice, I choose happiness. |

At least $195 if everyone who's posted a figure so far contributes the maximum of what they posted. $315 if everyone contributes the minimum. _________________ Silentium est aurum

I don't know, but the last estimate from a year ago was $550-600, but that could have very well changed by now.
Ashton Gray wrote: | Anywhere from at least $315 to $195. |
what math are you using, Ashton? _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. It is truly a rare thing when one can achieve both. But given the choice, I choose happiness. |

I apologize, Gantros, I mixed my words up a little. The math I'm using is a written record of everyone's promised contributions. Add up the all the minimum amounts of contributions promised until now and you'll arrive at $285, leaving $315 still needed to reach $600. Add up the maximum amounts of promised contributions and you'll arrive at $405, leaving $195 still needed to reach $600. I did'nt bother to go into all the other totals you could reach if you mixed up who contributed what amount, there are simply too many of them. I'll correct my previous post shortly. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

Let me know what you need from me when the time comes.
If you need me to collect the donations and make the final payment to whoever to make it official.
Regarding the paypal payments. I would like to make sure that everybody understands, that they MUST fund their paypal account before sending me donations. NO credit card payments or echecks will be taken. I'm going to just decline/deny the payment when it prompts me.
Only funded donations will be accepted to ensure the money is finalized.
I've had too many bad experiences with the wait period. I can email people the paypal information procedures later when the time comes.

As much as I would love to chip in, I've been having some problems with my paypal account. I hope to get things fixed in time, but regretably I cannot make any promises at this time. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

You mean e-checks? Actually it's faster if you used the paypal "Add Funds" from your bank and then send me the money from the paypal balance after its cleared.
I've tried to echeck somebody before in the past and it has taken 2 weeks for an echeck to clear. Same goes with receiving money from an e-check. I don't know why. But with the economy the way it is lately. I wouldnt be surprised that these banks/paypal try to 'hold' the money a bit longer in some other 'reserve' account and call it a "transfer period" in which they make interests off that 2 weeks.
It's almost the same thing- so you might as well transfer it from your bank to the paypal account via "Add Funds".

Well- I can always collect donations using other form of payments - bank checks or money order?
But if you can't chip in for financial reasons- no worries.

If PayPal is the only way to make donations to this, then I'm afraid that puts me out. The two and only times I tried to use PayPal, I was the victim of identity theft. I lost over a thousand dollars to both those incidents combined and, for those of you who recall, the second one forced me to change credit cards which caused my membership here to lapse and I had to wait to become a Royal Member again. I absolutely refused to use PayPal after that and I'm not in the habit of breaking my promises, especially those I make to myself. I'll still continue to keep a record of donation promises, though, of course. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

I'll have to look into things more, so I can't say for sure what I can add to the pledges. I just know I intend to add something. I know you need to know sooner rather than later, so I'll try not to hold you guys up by staying indecisive for too long... _________________ Johnny's Fanfics (including Sureshot! A Bon Bon Tale)

the problem with using CCBILL is there is no 'insurance' that I will receive the money in full or charge backs later down the line. SECONDLY, CCBILL doesn't allow for 'donations' as part of their usage policy. CCBILL takes a huge % fee. almost 15% and 5% is withheld for 6 months. Basically, any payments you make using CCBILL - Vanessa and I will only see 80% of the sales ticket. So do the math 80% of 25$ is what we get on your monthly payments for the membership.
Things suck, when customers do "CHARGEBACKS". This means we not only lose the money - but pay a fee/fine for bad transactions. Anyways... I don't want to use CCBILL for donations.
Now... I have recently been using MONEY GRAM and it seems to work pretty well. The rate is flat fee. I've been using that to pay my artists in indonesia. I was using Western Union before (but they have a big service fee based on the amount you send.)
A MONEY ORDER or CHECK is usually good.
PAYPAL is preferrable.
