Project and Donations?

Recently, I read an article on IGN about KickStarter. Actually I read an article way back about this company trying to make a space game and using Kick Starter to get funding. I thought that was neat.

But more recently, IGN did a piece about this company name Double Find wanting $400,000 in donations through KickStarter to fund their "Adventure" game project. Well, they got their donation goal and a bit more than they had asked for too.

Which gave me the idea of using Kick Starter to fund our MMO project for Bon Bon.

What do you guys think?

So.. would this Kickstarter lot be the ones actually donating the money or would they be organising a way to get donations from others? I only ask cos I've never actually heard of them and don't know squat about what they do. But it sounds like an idea. I would certainly be willing to donate a bit of money towards the site, MMO or no.

The KickStarter site is a website that handles all the donation organizing.

If we don't reach the donation amount, they refund everybody.

Each of the Kick Starters seem to have a video at the top. You have to hit the green play button in the black box. It gets you an idea of what other projects are doing.

I assume that as set out in the examples there would be a minimum donation amount set. Although the $1000 contribution setting would be beyond my current funds in one lump sum; even with the current exchange rate in favor of the British Pound. I hope to bestow small amounts which could reach such a target.

I'm just browsing KickStarter and talking to our community and seeing what can be done to organizing a project fund raising to expedite our MMO development full time.

Since doing these projects right now, everything is coming out of our own pockets and thus we're also limited by time cuz we have to spend time on other things to meet the bills as well.

But if we had a budget that can offset the need to do odd jobs and odd projects and just focus on the main project- it will certainly help make get things developed faster.

Definately. I'm really looking forward to seeing the game too when it comes out. Question about the MMO though. Will it apply to the royal members as part of our subscription fees or is it separate? If part of it, you may get a larger customer base if people have to have an active subscription in order to play the game. This applies to most MMO games these days, unless of course you add bonus content that require microtransaction and make the game free.

It seems a logical move to make the MMO connected to the existing membership of the site, Rune. That is, after all, what the MMO is trying to achieve, more memberships. It'd be a bit pointless if it was made seperate so that members would end up paying two subscriptions. That would likely have the opposite effect and drive people away from subscribing.

I honestly want it to be part of the membership.

-Full Access to the comics. (After a month of course of loyalty)
-A multitude of games, including the MMO.
-Pinups of our favorite characters.
-Chance to get Royal Avatars that can make cameo appearances in the comic.
-Friends with fellow people who like this form of erotic material.

Honestly, most of this already exists that had me pulled in. Hopefully the MMO will have more members pulled in.

We dont plan to charge two membership.

It will be free to play. With certain things requiring pay currency but some of the currency we will allow members to earn too.

Oh, I was thinking that an alternate plan might be two charges.

-One that is of slightly lesser amount.
-Free to those that have an active account with the comic and everything.

You could make the game free to a specific point as a sort of open beta, much like how WoW has players can go as high as level 20 before they have to pay.
