We've had plenty of new members swing in and leave their descriptions. The only thing is make sure you stay a member long enough to get it!
It seems we've had plenty of people step in, but not too many last the 6 months. _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Night watchman? Apothecary? Gypsy? Card shark? Showman? Politician? Nobleman?
All careers that fit the normal bat idiom of being a little dark with a flair for the dramatic. _________________ "Doktor! Are you sure this will work?!" "HAHA! I HAVE NO IDEA!" |

I recommend deciding on wether or not your batty fursona will be nocturnal or not. I would think that would greatly effect your occupation. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

The bat character I created is a circus performer. Specifically, aerial acrobatics. The world is your mollusk. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

I'm afraid I fail to see the relevance of that statement. You'll have to explain this one to me, if you don't mind. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure myself. Though I have been craving seafood all week, so that might be affecting my thinking. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

"The molluscs (British spelling) or mollusks (American spelling) are members of the very large and diverse phylum Mollusca, which includes a wide variety of animals that are well-known for their decorative shells or as seafood. There are some 112,000 species within this phylum.[1] The scientific study of molluscs is called malacology.
Molluscs range from minute snails and clams to larger organisms such as squid, cuttlefish and octopus, which are among the most neurologically-advanced invertebrates)[2]."
I am now. I used that term, I suppose, because I was thinking about how much I miss the clam fritters at Aunt Carries (a little, out of the way restaurant in Rhode Island (where I'm from)) and clams are related to oysters but the saying "The world is your oyster", which is used to indicate that through hard work and perseverance, one can crack the tough shell to get the pearl within, was too clichéd. _________________ I like old jokes. Actually, it's used frequently by Terry Pratchet. Heh, even my insanity is plagiarized. Come to think of it, that's kinda sad. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

-Because I enjoy having a good laugh at my own expense from time to time.
-Because I have a bizarre sense of humor and sometimes do things solely for my own amusement.
-Because I've had little to no sleep the past few days and coffee lost it's effectiveness yesterday.
-Because I'm a full blown whackaloon.
Please select the answer you like best or are most prepared to believe. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

I like the final one the most but none of them seem more or less believable than any other so I'll go with the one I like the most. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

My guess is its derived off of "The world is your oyster."
I lost which thread Xebulon's congradulations was in, but my my Ashton, you've already hit your first 1K posts. Xebulon and my posts combined barely match you, and you still beat us.

Some definite possibilities there. But, might I inquire, a night guard of what? There is no real police force in Bon Bon, not officially anyways (or so I understand). But perhaps an employee of a late night establishment? _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

A guard at one of the less high-class establishments in Bon Bon, perhaps? Or a member of the town guard that seems to have become a somewhat popular idea lately? _________________ Silentium est aurum |

With all that money around, there has to be a vault or town bank. That's something worth protecting. |

Why not have your bat character be a vigilante of sorts? Since there is no apparent law enforcement in Bon Bon, maybe he could be the 'angel of the night', to quote my favorite animated series, Gargoyles, for the ladies of the poorer parts of Bon Bon who find themselves with a violent/abusive customer (I would figure the spoiled son of some influential person from outside Bon Bon). Kind of the antithesis of Jack the Ripper, protecting them, rather than killing them. _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. Besides, a nocturnal dark bat vigilante is more than a little overdone, don't you think? This is not exactly Pleasure Bontham. _________________ "Doktor! Are you sure this will work?!" "HAHA! I HAVE NO IDEA!" |

I can understand that, but like I was for my own avatar, I was coming up with solutions that would satisfy Crimson's vision without blatantly violating the rules of PBB. Remember it took me more than a few revisions to be accepted by Vanessa. Crimson was looking for a bat night guard, but there are no guards to speak of in Bon Bon. So I figured I'd apply one of the most famous Victorian 'creatures of the night', Jack the Ripper, but make him a force of good, rather than evil. Other options are Spring-Heel Jack, who was reported to look the part of a bat anyway.
And if that is too dark, isn't Scarlett a little dark too? Although, admittedly, we haven't really seen her in action yet. And yes, I recognize the similarities between my suggestion and Batman, but again, it's just an idea to try and satisfy both Crimson and the rules of PBB. _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. Well, I'm not sure about that (Vanessa just hinted at it, and I can't read minds) but probably there is some sort of voluntary town guard or night watch, with maybe a handful of constables when the things get REALLY rough: of course, if there is such a thing, probably my li'l old self and other people from the bookstore are part of it, possibly as part-time reinforcements...
You may wonder what help can a waddling beaverduck or a wombat be for town security (a tasmanian devil would be painfully obvious, methinks ): well, let's say that a poison spur that can incapacitate anything my own size or even larger and the ability to crush an opponent just by leaning against him are most effective deterrents
Then, of course, there's Lou. Nothing like a dame the size of a double door to have roughnecks chill out NOW... |

A volunteer town militia seems to be in the background. With such a place as Bon Bon, a town of discretion and freedom, it seems just about anyone is willing to help keep the peace. All Betty had to do was say "Get 'em" and the gentlemen around her pounced. There are a number of us who are bodyguards and keepers of the peace, there just isn't an established police force in Bon Bon.
After all, with such acts happening all over the city, for instance if a couple happened to be into BDSM, a normal cop would put an end to it right then and there, but what would a BonBon cop do?
"Stop right there! ...wait, are you enjoying it madam?" "Why yes, thank you." "Oh. Well carry on then." It just wouldn't work! Not to mention Public Indecency is right out the window. _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |
