If you're digging deep, Labrn, don't forget to bring, at very least, a canary.

Actually Martin, the same effect happens to me! The stronger the coffee, the harder in knocks me out. Which is surprising because I used to drink a whole 12pack of soda every other day in my earlier teens. (I'm not so better now with it, other than a great deal has turned to tea or water due to my current location)

Now, I'll try thumbing through the thread for what rules we have set now, but otherwise could someone send me a copy of our rules, perhaps share what you have so far Martin? (My E is the same as this screename, either gmail or aol)

Interesting, if useless, fact. The stronger and darker the coffee roast, the less caffeine it has. The longer the beans are roasted to give you that deep, rich flavor, the more caffeine is baked out of them.

I'm glad that you like the cards, I'm doing the others too in the free time, in the meantime maZda can add the texts with the help of Martin and Cesar. I suggest a black text with a thin white stroke (1 pixel will be enough) to detach the text from the background color. There are also the locations to draw... any volunteers? If they're places that I've already drawn I can make a montage as for the characters.
But first we need a list.

I volunteered before, Vanessa, and I'll volunteer again. As for locations, you've already a slew of grande locations you could probably use, such as Blue Manor, the Delight Castle, the many areas and rooms inside the Delight Castle, the resurant, the theater...I could go on if you like.

Good, thanks a lot Ashton! Smile
We'll need also the help of YoungCesar, Martin and maZda for the "Tools and Tricks" and "Location" cards. I think you'll have to do a list to start and reach an agreement to decide who will draw what. If in the list appear images that are already done I can supply them. As you know the most I can do is supply montages because I don't have the time to do new artwork. I hope it'll be fine for you.

Im always willing to help.It will take some time to make the final cards.First we have to come up with the ideas and then see if they are balanced enough to fit in the gameplay.
Then the drawing duty falls on maZda. Wink

I've been keeping an eye on this topic for quite a while and I have to admit I'm kinda interested in the outcome of this project.
I know I'm probably unneeded, but I offer my help in anyway I can. Smile

Well, people, this platy has rested WAY too much, while you folks were busting ass! No fair to you, I think...

Therefore, with no further ado, here's a short list of "location" cards:

"Blue Manor": -1 to both seduction and power, Noble-aligned
"Marketplace": No bonuses, all Tools and Tricks cost 1 less tap, Worker aligned
"Delight Castle Casino": +1 Seduction, -1 Power, all players must roll TWO dice and keep the lesser value, Gambler aligned
"Private rooms": +1 Seduction, Entertainer aligned
"Station": No bonuses, each turn the active player must roll 1d6: on a roll of 1 or 2 the location is discarded and another is taken from the deck. Reshuffle the deck afterwards. Traveler aligned
"Sibilla's inner sanctum": No bonus, the active player must roll 1d6: on an even roll he can look at one of the cards in the opponent's hand. Eccentric aligned.

One for each, so nobody's jealous Very Happy

Now, some Tools 'n Tricks:
Tools
"Umbrella": +1 power, cost 2, traveller aligned
"Broom": +1 power, cost 2, worker aligned
"Golf club": +1 power, cost 2, noble aligned
"Pool cue": +1 power, cost 2, gambler aligned
"Weighted fan": +1 power, cost 2, entertainer aligned
"Wrench": +1 power, cost 2, eccentric aligned
"Gun": +1 power, cost 3, not aligned
"Lingerie": +1 seduction, cost 2, girls only
"Stylish clothes", +1 seduction, cost 2, boys only
(FYI, Lou counts as a girl, technically speaking Very Happy )
"Clever disguise": 5 different ones, each one changes the Origin of the character it's played on. Cost 4 each.

Tricks
"Lovely gift": +2 Seduction, cost 3
"Somewhere else, maybe?": location change, cost 5
"Much needed pick-me-up": revives a fallen sidekick, cost 5
"What the heck did I drink last night?" Changes, for a single turn, the orientation of ALL the characters in play to "bi". Cost 4
"Town festivity": the non-active player cannot use Power to attack on his next turn. Cost 3
"Depressing thoughts": the non-active player cannot use Seduction to attack on his next turn. Cost 3
"Hey, that one is mine!": Removes a tool from any character. Cost: equal to the tool's cost.
"Tender care": +10 HP recovery, cost 2

Phew, I guess that's a beginning...

WOW ! Very Happy I feel lucky having all these good artists and writers as friends and collaborators, I thank you a lot ( thanks Herishetft and Martin!)! When this project will be over we'll be able to put the printable, downloadable cards in the site and, together with the introduction and the rules, I'll write the names of everyone who collaborated, both with ideas and art! Good, now for the locations I think that Vanessa should sort out those that she can provide and I/we can start work on the others.

Well, I just went through the whole Thread and clipped out all the rules, suggestions, bits, and what not. I'll read over them and try to get a detailed version out by tonight or at least tomorrow (I got a few hours of free time over here coming up)

What about the "Heart Badge" in the comic? I can come up with something, but I have nothing to base my judgement on til I read all this.

Also, as far as staff characters, are we going to make one for Ronald as well, or will it mostly consist of those who have helped out in the project?

Well, I'm off to chow, and then to paint a wall for my unit. I'll try to get back some info by tonight.

About the locations: Aside from the "station" and "Sibilla's inner sanctum" I can give you all the backgrounds mentioned above. Do you prefer the interior or the exterior of the Blue Manor?
Sibilla's tent should be a tent with an accessorized table as in her pin-up, two chairs (one for her, one for the customer), candlesticks to illuminate, a couple of trunks and a small bookcase, rugs and pillows on the floor. On the other hand, I imagined the station as a classic country station with a steam train.

About the triks and tool I will let you know.

About the badges we could do a badge card that helps the player increasing his points (like a joker) or otherwise make some small cut-out heart badges to be used as fiches. In regards to Ronald, I already thought about making a card for him, in the group of the grey Worker cards, I'll try to do them by next week.

Well, I've gone through the whole thread, written down everything pertaining to the rules, and I must say, you guys just about have it all complete, and I'm very hesitant to add or change anything without it seeming like I'm trying to take over.

To warn you, I have about 7 proto-type card games, that all I'm waiting for is my artistic skill to improve enough to put them in, so perhaps I should take a step back and just help with the cards, but if you want this to be a group project, I have a complete makover for this cardgame, but only to a few key points.

1) I myself find the main purpose a bit off. Instead of focusing on one "Main Character" you have many characters. The game wouldn't end if you get their Main Character, but they become a token that you win (Such as a "book" in Spades or Euchre) and that causes your opponent to pick a new Main Character. That way, you can play to a number of characters won. This could also branch off to make it a multi-player card game, and allow the use of multiple locations. (I've written down all these changes, but I'm not going to post them if this seems to change the game too much)

I have two other ways to change it up if it seems just defeating the Main Character makes the gameplay too fast.

2) I'd eliminate HP. As it was stated, unless you want to bring ink and paper into this card game, you shouldn't have large numbers or any subtraction that you can't do on one hand.

Otherwise, if you still want to stick with HP, make set numbers for attacks and what not, and divisible by 5s. (If you've ever played D&D minis, you'll find it comes in VERY handy to go by 5s)

3) Reading over the gameplay style, I noticed for a method of payment, noone tried to go with a "discard a card to . . ." which can come in very handy if your not going to use tokens. Or as Vanessa was saying, the game could include "Heart Badge" tokens, which you accumulate by wealth and other means. That would give you something to actually "spend." I do agree with the "origin needed" to be able to purchase such items, thinking it as only they have "access"

Also, as a friendly tip for Royal Members and others aspiring to be. If your trying to place where your character is, use these situations to help you narrow it down (Because you could argue that a character could be under any number of types)

Noble: Wealthy and sticking around in BonBon? (Drake) Are you a highly sophisticated person with multiple talents or education? (Ashton, Ksthara, Avery, Simon) Do you actually come from a royal or noble family? (Labrn & Mystic)

Entertainer: Are you one of the working girls of BonBon? (Betty, Violet, Loucille, Stella) Did you come here to show off/put to use your talents? (Ashton, Johnny)

Worker: Do you physically work here in BonBon other than the profession of those above? (Dalila, Ophelia, Margrettel, Creamy Donut) Do you have an actual profession? (Kommy, Doc Horton, Robert Stone, Jillian)

Gambler: Are you here to make a buck or simply here for the casino? (William, Doc Horton, Cesar)

Traveller: Are you just passing through or here on vacation? (Dante, Meech, Wolfwood) With a traveling show or on tour? (Daphne, Johnny, Daisy)

Eccentric: Don't fit anywhere else? Feel your all for show? A member of the staff? (Martin, Vanessa, Sibilla)

Anywho, thats where I think alot of people would be, though you may find yourself unlisted or listed multiple times. Thats cause its your call last, cause they're not my characters. (Stella is on the strip dance, and works in the castle, so she's an entertainer like Betty)

Anyways, I'll see how that sinks in, either I can continue opening up, or I'll button up and just go with what we have now, tweaking it where it needs to.

First of all,let me say,you did a great job Labrn. The new rules are good indeed, but we have already went and build lots of characters, tools, tricks and other cards based on Martin's rules to back out now.And I myself like Martin's idea for our card game, not that yours isnt good,we even might end up changing a few things with your help.
And I,as a gambler,am here just for the casino,or should i say the challange of the game Very Happy
