Has anyone here ever wondered just who Mary's mother is? what her name is, what she looks like, and most of all why she is not in the picture. I know I have, ever since I first read the comic. I bet she is very pretty, why I even wrote a little fan fic about her. It's gone now but I remember what it was about. It focuses around of course Mary's mother and Edelweiss.(I wrote them as being life long friends) and how Mary's mom made Edelweiss her godmother. but I can't really remember what happened to Mary's mom in my old fan fic, but I remember it being very sad  but anyways has anyone ever wondered who Mary's mom is? or what she looks like? and how many people here want to see her appear later on in the series? feel free to leave comment or two about your thoughts on this topic.

I never knew that. This could possibly explain why Simon has kept her locked away from the outside world, to keep her from discovering her mom and what she also inherits. This could also mean that Betty Goldblum, Dalilah, and Ophelia are her adoptive sisters.  That would be amazing! And it would explain so much, possibly even Mary's obsession with sex and love. Thanks for sharing this info with me DesertWolf. This was fun

I've always assumed that Edelweiss is Mary's mother, but I can't recall if I've ever seen it confirmed. It's been a while since I read the older issues of the comic, so I might simply have forgotten about it.
Anyway, I'd love to see more of Edelweiss. She is one of my favorite characters, and I simply adore the style and elegance that Vanessa has given her.

You know, now that I think of it. There was that flashback in the beginning of "Secret Agreements" where we see Simon and Edelweiss discussing the banishing of Betty's abusive uncle and cousin. And that Simon agrees to banish the two if she leaves as well and that Betty would not be placed in her care. And when Edelweiss tries to reason with Simon he responds by saying "Why do you insist on hurting yourself even further?" It was after I read that did I began to think. And what I could come up with is that when Mary was born Simon took custody over her and divorced her. Though why he takes Mary away from Edelweiss is still a mystery. After learning about all this I wonder if Vanessa is going to put in somekind of Mother Daughter reunion between Mary and Edelweiss in any future issues? If she does do something like that, I think I would cry. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. It's so beautiful.

Edelweiss confirms being Mary's mother in issue 9 page 4 "and to think to send away the mother of your daughter."
In exchange for her freedom, Edelweiss chooses to exile herself to save Betty so long as her abusive stepfather shares a similar fate.

As far as I know, Mary hasn't spoken about her mother most likely because Simon has probably told her she passed away combined with Bon Bon's first law and you have a recipe for shocking revelations. I also believe Betty knows or at least suspects Edelweiss of being Mary's mother. She probably hasn't said anything because she either needs her suspicions confirmed or she won't risk being exiled and destroying her friendship.

That may be the reason. I just hope that the three become reunited sometime in future issues.

Most likely since Vanessa is focusing on Betty and Mary's relationship and Mary's upcoming wedding as well as possibly gearing up for avatar cameos.

I can't speak for the others who post and the people who've left, but I can at least say that I don't mind Mary getting married. I just don't like Red being the fiance.
