I am not one to point such things out normally. However I have to agree, with The Adept. When I saw that the Emperor was getting a avatar I checked his posts, the last being over six months ago.
It is rather annoying having been a active member and, apart from a small amount of time due to financial constrants, a constant subscriber to the site, that some users get an avatar who not only no longer take an active part in the forum but one must also assume not longer subscribe to the site its self.
Also, and this may sound like sour grapes, there have been some who have joined the forum left, been given an avatar come back to take it and then promptly left again never to be seen or heard of again.
I think checks should be made before Ms Vanessa's valuable time and efforts are 'wasted' in this fashion. I apologise if I have hurt anyone's feelings with this post, especially Ms Vanessa or Mr Roland, but I felt it had to be said.
I would like to take this oppotunity once again to thank Ms Vanessa for her time and efforts on my behalf. _________________ Terminus: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=239198#239198

I think yu should wait a bit longer than six months to count someone as no loonger active. Though I do agree that it might be wiser to move on to someone else who is still active.
Might I suggest temorarily postoning the current piece until more time has passed. Shoud they return, their avatar could then be completed. If longer time passes, then serious consideration could be given to scrapping the avatar. That's just my opinion. _________________

He was a paying member for a whole entire year. 2 whole 6 months cycle infact. Our list of avatar clears was pretty long. And Vanessa and I sometimes, don't check up when she goes down to doing the Avatar as she just goes by my "clears" that is on the forum.
Sometimes these things slip and is overloooked. But maybe after he sees his Avatar, he might come back for it.
It doesn't suck for those who are constantly posting and waiting for their avatar. I guess Vanessa will just have to follow up with me each time she actually does a 'clear'. _________________ "Every exit is an entrance somewhere else." -Tom Stoppard

If I may offer my opinion, I agree with Adept and Tearlach, long absesnces of about a year I would agree to count as innactive status, particualrly if members are confined to the forums.
However I do agree with Ronald that paying for a full year, even in divided cycles, does deserve at least an honorable avatar because though we're paying site members, you have to figure a six month membership is costing an average of $150 for us to have avatars drawn by Vanessa, and in a case of Emperor Raven, he has paid an estimated $300 for his avatar.
When you figure any of us could go find an artist and pay an average fee of $50 on Furaffinty or somewhere else for an artwork or avatar, we're paying hefty prices but a price worth committing to, and were I in Vanessa's shoes I'd still honor my artwork obligations. Adept and Toonaxe as an example I'm still determined to do their artworks I promised.
RONALD
But also while on this Subject, there is one point on this subject I would like to bring up. Adept has been telling me that along with a 6 month membership to the main site, a 6 month time frame in the forums is also required as well as a minimum postings, yet this point is not mentioned in the FAQ or any section I've searched for. Is Adept correct in this? If so then technically I won't be cleared for my avatar until September while I putup my avatar request last month waiting for CLEARED status. Can you enlighten me and or us? And if that's the case I should pointout an update in the FAQ might be a good idea. _________________ The Story of Sky B. Fox

I have a few opinions about this, but its not that bad if this guy gets it. On one hand, I always thought that activity in the forums was one of the requirements to get the avi to begin with. On the other hand though, since this guy has been around for quite awhile, so it can't really be helped. While I understand that the guy did do two whole six-month cycles in a row, I have to argue that some of us have done the same, myself included. Perhaps an email warning him about his Royal avatar might bring him here so that he has a legit chance to get his activity up. After all, it would be a terrible waste of Vanessa's time and talent to draw this guy's avi if he won't even be around to use it. _________________

I can agree on both sides, being one of the on again off again members, I've been a lyal member of this site for a while, but simply didn't have a reliable internet connection to do more than just look at the comics. I can see needing a certain period of time in active chat to get our ava. but, on the other side we've been here for at least 6 months, so I guess it could go either way _________________ http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10090 This is my avatar link |

I think it really all boils down to how activity is defined. As I recall, one of the requirements for an avatar is to be "active" on the forums. There isn't really any clear cut marker on what counts as active, as there seem to be a wide range of post counts for people who have had avatars made. I understand excessive posts don't necessarily reflect activity, as some new members get caught up in a few rps and end up with high post counts in shorter amounts of time. Might I suggest that before the WIP is started, simply pull up the person's forum profile and check things such as date of last post and/or average posts/day? |

If I can state my opinion I think that both you and Ronald are right. As the rules state, one must be active, but according to what Ronald said the person has paid a whole year and therefore is entitled to being placed in a list... quite a quandary.
I'd resolve the problem this way:
Ronald could notify the above mentioned royal member that his wip has been posted, if he will come back to the form (and subscribe once more to the site since it's the only way to see the wip) I'll color it and he'll be assigned the icon in the message board, but if he decides to wait he'll fall back in the list and his avatar will stay incomplete, I won't color it and move on to the following in the list.
I'll wait two weeks at most. _________________

That sounds fair, either way, the man did pay for his time on site, and he was active at some point here on the forum. He just needs to put himself back up on the bar so that he can say he earned his. Not to say he did'nt, I just don't want him to get it and not be around to appreciate the work you put into it. _________________

Seeing as to how 2 weeks have passed, are we to assume he has not responded? |
