Leaf picked up his glass of water and took a sip.
"Well, then. While we wait for our meals, how about we get to know one another?"

His eyes lowered towards the table. "At least until the blasted panic that happened about two years ago...

He took a sip of water before continuing.
"Unfortunately, that prosperity didn't last long. Two years ago, a railroad company located in Pennsylvania went bankrupt. That was when things started to go downhill... Patrons rushed to banks to try to save their money."
"When word got out of Europe's floundering trade, people tried to get their silver notes exchanged. Sadly, our country didn't have enough gold and the notes became worthless. This caused many companies, including banks and some railroads, to fail."
