I know recently we had 2 sections added, which made me wonder about subsections. Separating certain types of discussions from others, but that still fit into one general category.
Essentially, subdivisions of the section. Really, the Role Play section would be the only one in need of it. As Symphony had mentioned earlier, a lot of fursona-based topics got moved there and were quickly buried under the RPs. Adding a subsection to the RP section for fursonas may not be a bad idea, I was also considering subsections for the OOG discussions, Introductions(might be for a different section, but would be nice to have an exclusive place for newcomers to post), even Bedroom for those on a Budget (as there's about a whole page worth of topics for it).
If it could be done, I think it might help clear up some things. If it can't be done, though, I'd understand that as well. |

just adding my opinion, not knocking the idea; it's not a bad one.
i honestly don't see that much of a need for it. fursona profiles can easily enough be let to fall into the back pages because very little is done in them and most people place links to them in their signatures so they can easily be found. OOG, do you mean OOC? if you do, then they kinda need to stay. they are vital threads that run parallel with their respective RP threads keeping them clear of OOC discussions. and putting them in a seperate section could lead to them being ignored and/or forgotten, hence negating their purpose. Introductions i believe already go in the personal board and the BftoaB threads... well, they're RPs as well and pretty much belong where they are. there aren't exactly that many other RPs anyway so they're not really getting in the way, are they?
once again, not knocking the idea, just adding my 2cents worth on the matter... for consideration purposes. _________________

I'll reply to your points, to clarify a few things, not to be taken as an argument.
First of all, I kinda agree with the OOC/OOG being moved possibly being a bad thing. I was simply making the suggestion as part of organizing the board so if you want to find something, you know where to look. Also, I meant OOG, which is commonly used in conjunction with OOC. In reality, I feel OOG is more applicable than OOC. OOG means Out Of Game, so when you're dealing with a thread that runs separate from the RP, this seems pretty fitting. OOC is Out Of Character, which would usually mean it was done in-game, but is to not be confused with a character's post.
As far as Fursonas, this is not entirely the sole purpose of the Fursona section as I see it. Several "What would your fursona" style threads were moved to the RP section and subsequently buried under RPs when the section was first created. Since then, I see a few have remained alive in this section, but it is in general a response to the outcry of those initial threads being buried.
Now, for BftoaB it was simply because of the number of threads that I felt it should get a subsection. I understand that they are all RPs, but the problem that arises is that when grlover23 replies to a large section of them, a number of topics can move to the second page that, if it hadn't been noticed prior to the mass-posting, would subsequently never get a chance.
As for introductions, I have seen them posted in several boards. They can be posted under general, personal, I've seen them posted here... you get the idea. Then there are posts like Johnny's that were posted on this board that would make a nice sticky for an introduction section.
Still, I respect your points and I'm glad you mentioned them. After all, why post a suggestion if I can't handle a bit of criticism? |

i see your points, and almost feel like typing "and i'll raise you some more points" in a poker tone. but i'm not going to because they are valid points. i believe both our points are valid and they offer a good view of 'both sides of the story' so to speak, allowing whoever would make such changes to make a well informed decision. _________________

I would personally very much like a section for fursona descriptions and threads about what our fursonas like to eat, where they live, who they would have sex with and so on. Those are some of the threads that interest me the most, but as Shadow said, they are being buried under all those RP threads. They can be bumped, of course, but the RP threads are a lot more active, and threads that aren't on the first page don't get that much attention.
I like how the PBB section has been made free of RPs. It's nice to see more of a focus on Vanessa's work and furry artwork in general. I'm just hoping for a fursona section, because it would make it a lot easier for me, and those like me who don't roleplay, to simply look at the sections that are of interest. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

What you could do is, in the role play section, is to unsticky the old threads since they are cluttered.
I would create a stickied thread called "Character Biographies". Then you just have to establish a few easy rules, which you would mention in the first post:
First, everybody gets exactly one post in the thread. You can continually edit your first post to reflect new developments/edits to your character as opposed to increasing the size of the thread needlessly.
Second, you have to make it an informtion-only thread. You cannot hold discussions about characters in the stickied topic... Form a new thread for that if you want, but leave it alone.
=====
It's a small pity that you can't link your bio with the official icons. We have two pages in the official PBB site, where you have the Message Board link and the Four Aces Club. It's too bad that you can't write up a biography and then when you click on the icons in the Message Board link, for instance, it automatically opens a new window with your thread/post where you describe your character. |

ok, i'm going to be honest here, i don't think i fully understood what you just said so i may get this completely wrong.
if i'm not mistaken, you basically just described what i have done with my fursona bios. i have a direct link to my main's bio, with links at the top of that bio to my secondary bios. this allows me to find those bios, update them and not have them posted to the top of page one unless a new post is made. _________________

The complaint was that the Roleplaying Forum is a good idea, but it gets overburdened with roleplaying so you can't find the original biography threads. People roleplay within character introduction threads which makes them hard to use and read.
I was just providing a suggestion where you make a new sticky which is just an introduction thread and no discussions. People have to leave some threads clean so people can find things. Your solution would work also, but then everybody needs to alter their signature to link to their fursona description. |
