Servers for said sites are hosted in countries with lax laws(i.e. Russia)so trying to use legal action is usually a waste o time. _________________ “If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”

Then maybe there should be a server region lock so that places like that can't view such content. _________________

There are a couple of reasons why that won't work.
1)It would drive potential customers away.In business sense the site could lose revenue.
2)The majority of the culprits are site members who steal the artwork and then re-post it on these servers. _________________ “If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”

What I don't understand is why they would do that. I mean they're paying for it right? So why throw it out onto other sites? If you think its good, shouldn't you support the artist?
Of course i'm preaching to the choir on this one....sorry. _________________ Alain Daishar Profile: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8174&highlight= |

I agree with you on that, but I still find it offensive that people are so stupid sometimes. I think that makes it all the more worth it though for those who stick around. _________________

Long story short, these people live in a symbiotic relationship. They use their membership to steal the comic and post it else where while the cheap bastards praise the person for providing the comic. It's to the point that I've witnessed an actual flame war between people when a member was deciding to stop posting.I of course found the continuous banter hilarious. It was like watching people go through some sort of twisted withdrawal.
Note:I was doing recon and have provided the links to Ron.
Also,I don't find humor in people who are going through withdrawal symptoms from legitimate addictions such as drugs and alcohol. _________________ “If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”

Its funny when you see that sort of thing happen when people stop that sort of thing, then get ridiculed because of it, whether it was because they were caught, or had a change in heart. And yeah, I posted a few sites already for what its worth, so its not so bad to have a clear conscience. _________________

Taking away the right-click copy feature still leaves the issue of the Prt Scrn button on the keyboard or the snipping tool with Windows Vista/7. |

Yeah, but its getting harder to fight this kind of plagiarism. Sometimes I wonder how much more people can take of this. I know for a fact that that the ones here, especially the Four Aces Members and those who participate on the boards are the least likely people doing this. _________________

i had an idea. it's a bit complicated and would probably take a decent bit of effort to put to work, but it may just get around the screenshot deal.
.gifs
if you show the page in a gif format that flashes sections of the page rapidly...
so you got three gifs, top of the page, middle and bottom. each gif flashes up for a fraction of a second before the next one does. if they flash up fast enough, the human brain can perceive them as a single picture but pressing print screen will still only get one image as only one gif flashes it's image at a time and the screen capture will only get one frame of the image. moving at high speed there's no way to time it short of spamming print screen to get what image you want. and saving the gifs will be a bitch as well because you'd need to put them together and play them individually as a set...
does any of this make sense? it does in my head, kind of... not sure if i'm explaining it well though. _________________

As much as I like that idea, I see two problems.
1. The bandwidth issue (possibly). There's a possibility this would eat up a lot of the bandwidth for the website, making it prone to other problems.
2. The people getting the images themselves. Never underestimate people who take comics. They could have patience that would allow them to sit in front of the computer, taking the screen shots of the pages and piecing them together. _________________ My Fursona

That makes sense, but it would be a pain in the arse to implement for every single page.....although once it catches up with the comic series, then you would only have to work on individual pages as they are released. But really it comes down to a matter of effort and time. of course i'm assuming that the only one who could to this would be Ronald? In which case that might be a fair amount to ask. But it's not like it would have to happen over night.
Wow, I can't believe I'm debating with myself.
Point being: sounds like it would work. _________________ Alain Daishar Profile: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8174&highlight= |

i know there are a lot of faults with it and it may not be 100% practical, but it was a fleeting idea that i thought i'd share. who knows, maybe someone will come along and improve on it or something.

Thats true, however it would at the very least cut down on the number of people willing to take the comics. It's like with counterfeiting, there is always going to be a select group of people who are willing to do everything they can in order to counterfeit money. The security measures help dissuade the casual counterfeiter. So while there may still be leakage with this idea, it should help stem the flow. _________________ Alain Daishar Profile: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8174&highlight= |

I've only ever posted up my avatar or an image that I got consent to share.
I e-mailed Vanessa about the pin-up with Kommy and I. As I'd love to post it up on my FA page (linking it to the site of coarse, as I do my main page) as a "This could be you!" propoganda. ^_^ _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

GIFs are easier to capture than other techniques, even animated. They are trivial to save, once on the local drive, you can load them into the viewer of your choice to access the individual frames.
You also may run into issues with playback - some people disable animation in their browsers, and some browsers used to have speed control issues (not sure if that's sorted now).
I believe we discussed techniques some time ago with the resolution being that Ronald wasn't looking at too much in the way of technical obstacles. _________________ http://harmlesslion.com |
