just look up a recent study done called the adam project, in which a group of scientists took a representative sample (that is samples from 10%) of the earth population from all over the world even the most remote tribes of the amazon every geographic group of humanity and tested their dna and so many people carried Genghis khan's unique gene that they almost thought he was responsible for most of the human race but alas not to be so in the end they narrowed it down to a man who would have lived approximately 60000 years ago in Africa who's sudden genetic mutation made him so superior to all other male blood lines of the time (the human race beign almost extinct at the time) that his descendants eventually out competed every other blood line till they were all that left and spread to the rest of the world from there. Genghis was similar in that he had a radical mutation which, though not as significant as Adam's made him very good at what he did. not to mention his empire did stretch quiet far into eastern europe which makes it quite likely there is some genghis in you.

Of course there are going to be common points of ancestry if you trace things back that far. The common ancestors of modern humans did indeed originate in Africa, about 200,000 years ago, but began migrating to other continents around 70,000 years ago. There's an astronomical difference between 60 and 70 thousand years considering the average life-span of early Homo Sapiens. Might as well say that we're all related because we all came from the same primordeal soup a few billion years ago.

And into Eastern Europe, yes, but not Western Europe. The British Isles, to be precise. Though, they did get near Germany. I'm not disputing the possibility that there may be a diluted fraction of a drop of Temüjin's blood in my viens, but the probability is must less likely than 1 in 6. I'm more likely to be related to Belisarius, or Charlemagne.

Could you provide a link to this Adam Project? A search of several search engines brings up at least four different ones, all called "Adam Project" and/or "Project Adam", none of which have to do with genetics as far as I can tell.

As to Temüjin's religion, that is still unknown. It's commonly believed to have been either Shamanism or Tengriism, but his tolerance towards other religions, as was not uncommon in Eastern Asia at the time, only serves to muddy the waters.

Do you remember which National Geographic documentary it was? The name of it, I mean? I am genuinely interested in reading it for myself, now that you've piqued my curiosity, but I can't seem to find it. I'm sure you know how difficult it is to find things sometimes on the Internet, given how wopperjabied a place it is.

You mentioned the British Isles, a DNA survey in (I think) 2003/4 found that more then 60% of the population had considable amounts of Scandinavian DNA. Due to the large scale invasions of Saxon, Viking and of course Norman peoples during the later half of the first millennium and into the second.

not at all i did some looking and i learned that atleast one of the docos was called "search for adam" and apparently to find out if you are descended from Genghis or not is very simple they take a sample and screen it for a particular gene which thus far has proved unique unto his blood line

just to be clear as i have had this confusion occur in other places where this is mentioned, they refer to the prime or first man as Adam as a reference to the biblical concept not because they believe he was the guy from the garden of Eden

Well, besides the fact that many of the members here have mistaken which one of us is male and which one is female. (Labrn and I for you new comers.) That shouldn't be too hard a stretch to think of what might happen.

I think the only real thing it would change is that I'd be a lot more willing to play with the ladies of this site. . unless they too have altered to the other sex.
