((Hey all,
Okay, again, another mass-posting as I'm on the lazy side sometimes. Now, I do like getting the chance to see everyone who is an artist post their stuff online... but I really don't feel comfortable commenting on it. Art is very subjective and personal... and I'm not really qualified to say anything about someone elses art. Light knows I get nervous enough handing out my text work to people I know, let alone people I don't know...
So.... I guess what I'm getting at is please don't take it the wrong way if you post a picture or design or work-in-progress, and I don't comment on it. I just don't feel comfortable doing so.)) |

I completely understand, I would try not to rip a person off always using their pictures unless I either paid for it, or always held the link to the original owner. It is just like music, though different rules apply. people always seem to find ways to actually personalize and treat it like an object When people share it between each other,, the artists go nuts and now have the power to sue the people who do it, even though when the business first started, it was highly encouraged to get the word out about their music. And how did they do that? They shared it between each other. Kind of a double standard really, but I'm getting off topic here. All I'm saying is that we should always credit to originator if we ever use their artwork, or use it as a reference. _________________

Wow, Rune. You were really dead set on shooting off on that tangent, it seems.
I tend to agree with Caroline, myself. I loath commenting on other peoples' art or other creative endeavors. Especially because I am something of a critical person with an often nasty and caustic sense of humor. It causes lots of trouble for me, even when constructive criticism is explicitly called for. In my experience, they don't really want it and will rationalize ignoring it or throwing a fit nine times out of ten. _________________ "Doktor! Are you sure this will work?!" "HAHA! Hey. um... im not really sure if you were refering to my recent thread, or the WIP sketch threads goddes has(probably sahtori's, seeing as how she's a better artist than myself <<) but i just thought i woud throw in my two cents on what you said

Says who? if you have an opinion on something you have a right for it to be heard.

i think people here have shown themeselves to be very understanding and courteos(spelling?) you have no reason to feel nervous. if anything, the net ussually removes such feelings and inhibitions.

well, i certianly have no right to tell you what to do. however i would really discourage this way of thinking. i cant speak for any of the other artists among us, but I post stuff here becuase i want other peoples opinions. (well... that and it lets me do a bit of attention-whoring )
i also have a comment directed for miss fuchs

well, then thats there problem and not yours. no one with half a brian should look down there nose at you for having an opinion
and you siad nine time outta ten. what about that one artist who does'nt gripe and moan. he gets left with out the benefit of hearing what you have to say
to use a IRL example, has anyone here ever had to turn in a paper for a writing/english class before. the teacher will ussually make you turn in a rough draft first, then comment and critique it. then when it comes time to do the final product you have a better idea of what you should do.
now that i siad that, if you(or anyone else reading this) is looking over my art thread and has something to say, but is afriad of hurting my opinion, DONT BE! i can handle critiscism _________________

That's alright Kommy. You can always rip Labrn a new one, because he insists everything he makes is a piece of crap, so his opinion won't change any. _________________ Oh, I'd tell myself
