I have noticed that all my posts copied from a Word document into a post here, suddenly look very weird. It seems that all the ' and " have changed into weird symbols since the recent crash or whatever it was.

This is really annoying to look at in my diary thread as well as the roleplaying thread I'm participating in.

Ronald, is this something you can help with?

This is a problem that happens a lot across multiple word processors, browsers, and forums. The box you're typing into in your browser can't recognize many forms of punctuation unless they are typed directly into the box. Copy-Pasting text kind of confuses it. The best way to solve it is to just proof read whatever you pasted, and manually fix the errors.

Actually, you might have to settle with writing things in .txt format rather than a more complicated format like .doc or .rtf just for simplicity's sake. The same thing would happen to me when I would submit stories to other sites, like YiffStar...

Sometimes, I would actually have two copies of a story on my harddrive: one in .doc format with all the formatting and special characters the way I wanted, and the other in .txt format with all the html codes for transfer onto a story-sharing site. Kind of a pain in the ass, really, because I love using italics and bold to emphasize specific words in dialogue. Constantly... *sigh*

Still, my advice is just to do that... copy-paste or re-save something into a .txt file, so you know right away what will or won't show up correctly on the boards.

Sadly, all I can say is to retype them up in the forum? I'm sorry I can't be of more help than that.

That's what I've been done. It's just tiresome work. What's odd is how it hasn't always been like this. I think it happened after the site crashed, where I also notices how some posts disappeared.

Well, did Ronald ever get back to you about it?

Perhaps he just went nuts with a chainsaw and tore through the message board. Is there a maximum number of threads or posts where once its reached you have to clear out more memory space like on a hard drive?
