Johnny and Kommy, I love both of your character descriptions, by the way! Very detailed. I must admit that I'm a little afraid to post mine which I've finished even though I made it as detailed as I could. Everyone around here just writes so well! Plus, I don't know if I even need to post mine until I get an avatar in the next month or two. Unless you guys are just dying to see another character history.

Vanessa, I've sent you an email with my character description and everything, so you can post here and/or reply to me by email when you get it and read it over. Wink

I saw your E-mail, it looks like a good job! Very Happy
But it would be more fair if you'd post here the description with the story attached yourself, don't you think? Don't be shy! Wink Your story will be appreciated anyway, we're here to have fun, not to give grades Smile

Ok, then. I guess if people really want to see another history, I'll be happy to oblige. Fair warning that the background is detailed much like Johnny's. Well, here we go: Very Happy
------
Name: Jeff Actarus (could be purely coincidental with the name of Daphne's ?imaginary? lover. We aren't sure yet.)

Species: Gray Wolf

Eye Color: Blue

Height: 6'5”

Fur: Silver/gray with a white stripe running across the middle of his head

Tail: Long, bushy, and silver with a black tip

Attire: White chef’s jacket, with chef’s hat in one hand, brown khaki style pants, black shoes, chef’s hat has a Native American style feather coming out of the top. He wears a small, gold medallion around the scruff of his neck/chest hair. Also has a large butchers knife that can often be seen attached to a cooking tool belt around his waste.

Profession/Specialty: Gourmet chef/cook. Specializes in fanciful meats, sweets, and of course passionate flavors of wines.

Nationality: Australian

Personality: Reserved, gentle, but also very passionate and a bit smug/arrogant especially when he’s in his element (the kitchen). Believes that food is the window to a person’s soul and life force and believes that it’s an art form that should only be practiced to perfection and nothing less. In addition to having a love for the creation of comestibles, he’s pretty handy with large knives. Often times when he’s not cooking up a storm in the DC kitchen, he might be out on the casino floor performing a rather interesting talent of throwing knives at bullseye boards for guests if there aren’t any striptease shows going on. It’s not uncommon to see guests betting as to how close he can reach the center of a bullseye with a knife point. This helps Betty out financially too especially if customers don’t believe in Jeff’s archery abilities.

Background: Jeff was born in what is now known as Kalgoorlie, Australia (near the Southwestern border) in 1868 to a basically well-to-do family. His father, Horace, was a strong and clever railway engineer who happened to make a pretty decent sized fortune thanks to the Victorian Goldrush of 1851 in Australia despite the economic oppression which may have been occurring at the time. Good timing coupled with his abilities of railroad designing kept him well fed. He married in 1860 to a lovely lupine noblewoman named Anetta who was down on her luck and suffered abuse from her own family. She had a knack for cooking and eventually passed on her gift to all three of her sons, Jeff being the youngest (and most influenced by the culinary arts) of the three at 27 years of age. One of his brothers became a teacher of the sciences at a local school while the other went into the engineering industry like his father. From the time he was a child, Jeff had a real interest and curiousity in creating things. He’d help to construct small boats, furniture in his teenage years and partook of his father’s access to metals and designing tools to shape knives and other sorts of items. In his spare time, Jeff liked to read. He especially enjoyed novels written by Jules Verne (i.e. Journey to the Center of the Earth and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) and other mysteries such as Sherlock Holmes (1892). But amidst it all, his major passion was the creation of fine confections to the tastebuds. He spent much of his childhood observing the cooks in his home as well as his mother’s affinity for fruit and meat recipes. By the age of 15, Jeff was already better than most chefs twice his age. It was simply a matter of having knowledge of chemistry and passion, both of which were in plentiful supply where he was concerned. When he turned 18, Jeff decided to leave home and used some of his inheritance to travel to different parts of the world to find a niche for himself as a chef. Australia wasn’t exactly booming with culinary opportunities at the time, but his father had some well connected friends in both Italy and Paris, France. In 1889, Jeff was introduced to a Joseph Oller who, at the time was the founder of what would become a large tourist attraction in the “red light” district in Paris known as the Moulin Rouge nightclub. Oller took quite a liking to Jeff’s diverse cooking skills and so, hired him as one of the main chefs for the booming nightclub. Over the next couple of years, Jeff spent most of his time partaking in French culture but mainly kept to himself with the exception of a few friends who shared his passion. Between 1889 and 1893, Jeff traveled to Italy twice and exposed himself to the creation of Italian cuisine for the first time. This is where he honed his culinary expertise and where he decided to encompass and collect both Australian and Italian recipes. This eventually led him to publish a cookbook filled with recipes characteristic of both countries. In Italy, he also perfected his knowledge of fine wines and the creation of a new, soon to be incredibly popular Italian dish, the pizza, though pizza didn’t become what we know it as today until 1895.

In 1894, Jeff was working in a restaurant named Don Alfonso, one of the most famous and important restaurants in Italy located in the village of Sant’Agata sul Due Golfi near the gulfs of Naples and Salerno. One day in April, a rich food connoisseur entered the restaurant claiming to be from the northeastern part of the country and began telling the staff of the need for a head chef at a casino located in a town hidden within the mountains known as BonBon. “It’s a quaint place with a lot of opportunity and full of ‘passion’,” he said. “The job also pays very well. Equivalent to about 3500 Florins a month.” A few of the chefs in the restaurant looked down and chuckled since some had heard rumors of the free flowing and widely accepting town of BonBon but none had ever traveled there. Jeff himself had heard the very same stories, that it was basically the Italian capital for wild sex and unbridled passion and couldn’t help but laugh along with his fellow chefs. It simply came down to a matter of who would be best suited to take on the position of head chef at a casino. The manager of Don Alfonso asked anyone who was interested to place their name in a bowl. A fair few volunteered and were pretty excited about the prospect, one because of the good money and two, well…you can probably imagine what that is. As luck would have it, the manager decided to choose Jeff mainly because his cooking abilities were quite diverse and he’d be able to better anticipate the types of cuisine which could best suit a fast paced casino with all kinds of foreigners, guests, and other visitors, and of course the girls. Some of the others were a bit disappointed because they weren’t chosen to go, but they held no grudge against Jeff and were pretty happy for him. One of his colleagues elbowed him ever so slightly to his shoulder and said with a rather heavy Italian accent, “…would give you a chance to meet some nice signorinas, eh? Nothing like a way to a woman’s heart than through good wine and good food!” Jeff paid little attention to his friend’s suggestive comment and basically chuckled it off but part of him smiled to the prospect.

His manager set him up to travel with the connoisseur a couple of weeks later by train to the north and then east into the mountains by horse carriage. During the trip Jeff was briefed a bit in BonBon culture, was given a healthy bonus for agreeing to take the position which was enough to get him lodging in the town of BonBon. The connoisseur was a friend of a woman he described as the “princess of the castle,” named Betty Goldblum to whom he’d be introduced when they arrived. “The Delight Castle?” Jeff asked. “Hmm. Quite an interesting name for a casino,” he said in a rather jokingly sarcastic tone. When they finally reached BonBon, Jeff was a bit surprised by the open nature of the place. He’d barely stepped out of the carriage before being ambushed by a group of fancily dressed street women asking him if he wanted some company. Although flattered, he declined their offer since he had some business to attend to. He also wasn’t accustomed to seeing that many prostitutes and wasn’t really interested in practically emotionless one night stands. He wanted to eventually meet someone that shared some of his passion and he didn’t realize that it would happen sooner rather than later.

Before settling in at the Delight Castle, he had some time to walk around the town and acquaint himself with his surroundings. One place in particular really caught his interest and made him feel almost as though he were back home with the gators and dingos. The front of the shop said “Outback Omnibus” in large brown letters. Inside, the store was full of books about travel, mystery, science fiction, pretty much any genre he could think of. He quickly made friends with the employees at the bookstore since they were of the same nationality. In addition to cookbooks, one large bookshelf in particular caught his interest and it was labeled “Romance,” bigger and longer than any of the other shelves. At the center of the shelf stood a few volumes, each of a different color of a series called Pleasure BonBon Tales : by Daphne Mallow. Immediately, Jeff was mesmerized by this author’s beauty, even from the biography in the preface of one of her volumes. As odd as it may have seemed, he felt more of a connection to this woman and her artistic skill than any regular fan would. The owner of the store, Martin, was well acquainted with Daphne as she made a number of visits there a year to sign copies of her newest volumes. Martin told him in a joking fashion, though perhaps partially serious, that Daphne’s entranced by anything and everything Australian. A smile came across his face. Martin also told him that Daphne stays at the Delight Castle when she visits BonBon as she’s a longstanding friend of Betty, the princess. As luck would have it again, Jeff happened to arrive in BonBon only a week or so before Daphne was to make one of her visits. He was thrilled since he was only a few days from starting his new job as chef of the DC, so he thought that an excellent opportunity to meet the lovely Daphne with Betty’s help. He had already met the princess of DC and her lovely best friend Violet, and while he thought their profession a bit peculiar from an Australian standpoint, the three of them hit if off pretty well. They liked his charm and his abilities and figured he’d be an excellent addition to the castle.

Unlike many of the street girls who had to work their way into the castle, Jeff had already been hired by Betty to be the castle’s main cook, so he only had to pay a small one time lodging fee of 200 Florins to get in. Sundays became his day off since he usually made enough food throughout the week to last the castle for at least an extra day or so as long as food could be kept refrigerated. He’d often be seen walking the town and meeting some of the people. One day in October of 1894 during his first Sunday holiday, it also happened to be the day Daphne was to be signing her latest novel and volume for her PBB Tales in Martin’s bookshop and would be performing later on that evening at the DC on the striptease stage unbeknownst to Jeff himself until Martin told him. That day, it was pretty crowded in the store and Jeff didn’t feel it necessary to crowd around Daphne like everyone else was. He played it cool and simply browsed the store as a person would on any other regular day there. What caught him by surprise, however, was the fact that in the middle of all those crowds of adoring fans, Daphne kept glancing at him particularly and smiling seductively. He smiled back of course, though at the time was a little uncertain as to how else to react. To his knowledge, he’d never actually met her before, but he wondered if someone had told her about him. This brings time up to the present a few months later, pretty much (1895) about the time William graces the DC with his presence and is sent off to the Blue Manor to do Betty’s bidding.
----
Well that's about it. Hope it wasn't too long. I apologize if it was.

very cool, Nightwolf, I liked it. Very Happy You really made an effort to place your character within the world of Bon Bon.

Just a short question about how you describe his attire... where did he get the feather that he places in his hat? Just curious, since you described it as being "Native American style". Sorry, can't help it. I did the same thing to kommy. I just find it interesting that you would include such a subtle element of Native American culture into an Australian character, and now my curiosity won't let me stop from asking about it. It's fine if you don't have an answer. Laughing Curious

Quite a lot of work went into that, I'm sure. And I can't see how you could possibly make enough food to last the castle an entire day. Especially if William is going to keep eating there. Truly, a wolf with a lot to do. Fine work, Nightwolf. Smile

Daphne is certainly accumulating a lot of fans, though. What is it with some people and vixens? *Chuckles*

Thanks for the complements, you guys. Much appreciated. I did put a lot of work into it, so I'm glad it came out pretty well Very Happy

Kommy, there is certainly some truth to what you said. It probably would be pretty difficult to keep the castle stocked for an entire day, particularly if William was to be gorging himself but he could probably do it. Either that or eventually have a couple of assistants to help him out.

And Johnny, that was an excellent question. I guess I've always been fascinated by Native American culture which is why I thought your background was so interesting as well. I have a really high regard for Native American lifeways, and I suppose my character does too. He probably received it during his travels and it's just a way of identifying him. As I think I told Vanessa, I was thinking about the movie Crocodile Dundee a lot while I was making my profile...don't know why. Laughing So I suppose he's a cross between that character and Native American (in spirit) though he's purely Australian in nationality and blood.

Daphne isn't the only PBB character I really like, but she is my favorite. love I guess a lot of people do have a thing for vixens, but wolves and coyotes are way up there too! I also think Daisy Nugget is really beautiful. Then would come Violet and Betty. I suppose the fact that Daphne's mysterious and a writer makes her character appealing as well as her poses and passion of course. Wink

Well your character would probably have the best chances of becoming Violet's lover, Drake, since you're as close as possible to her idea of the perfect match. Wink

Can't argue with that! love

Personally I find wolves and foxes to be almost overused in the furry fandom. I almost wanted to make my fursona a jackalope (jackrabbit with antelope horns) rather than a coyote because of the rarity of jackalopes in furry and because of their inherent mischevious nature.

Of course, I've always loved coyotes (my favorite cartoon character of all time is old Wile E. Coyote from the Roadrunner cartoons, and the various Native American stories and myths involving "Coyote the Trickster" have always been among my favorites). Plus Vanessa had a "no fantasy creatures" rule for the fursonas in here anyway, and jackalopes definitely fall in the "fantasy" category (just don't tell any jackalope that!). I figured it wasn't worth trying to have an overly "unique" fursona if I wasn't going to be happy with it over time.

So lots of love to my fellow canines out there! Maybe we'll start out-numbering the felines pretty soon... Wink Laughing

Nightwolf, your character seems perfect for taking care of the catering service for the Blue manor.
When you'll get with your cart laden with foods prepared at the Delight Castle, after closing Mary in her room Simon will open the door to his house to let you deliver the food. Simon does accept the food coming from the Delight Castle; after all Bon Bon is the town closest to his home, and at the delight castle the cuisine is the best in town, since the chef is just that good.
Effectively Daphne has something to do with Australia. During the return from a pleasure trip, Daphne starts a conversation with Martin, that she met on the ship, and the two find out that they have a project in common once they get back to Europe. Martin, a writer with a passion for literature and a book collector, received the management of Bon Bon's bookstore/library from its old manager, the wombat Fenimore T. Wattle, a fellow countryman of his.
Daphne too has writing as a hobby, and the two soon become friends. Daphne would love to publish and launch a series of erotic books but she's afraid that she'll never find a publisher. Martin, aware that Bon Bon's bookstore is equipped with a small private print shop, offers to support her by printing a limited run of 50 copies of her first book, and sell them in exclusive in Bon Bon. Of course the idea is a success and after a few years Daphne becomes a famous and mysterious writer (see topic "question about Daphne") that spends her life travelling all over the world and publishing her books through the small yet refined publishing house of the bookstore "Outback Omnibus".

Wow, that's some interesting history about Daphne! Thank you so much for explaining some of it, Vanessa.

And I'm also glad my character seems so well fit to be the head of the catering service for the Blue Manor! Somehow I thought he might be. Hmm...maybe that provides an extra means of delivering Daphne's forbidden books to Mary's bedroom as well. Though if her door is closed, that might be more difficult. Curious

Also, my character being Australian will hopefully help speed along the relationship between him and Daphne. love I'd love to see a scene in the comic about that down the road. Wink Maybe in Issue 4 sometime.

Oh come now, Nightwolf, I'm sure you can find a way to hide a book in one of your culinary creations and sneak it past Mr.Blue.

Haha. Well, I don't know if it would be hidden inside the food. Laughing

Maybe under one of those fancy metal dome thingies under a pile of large napkins perhaps. I don't think Jeff would want to ruin one of Daphne's lovely books. Wink

*chuckle* Very funny, Martin, very funny indeed. It's actually much easier to hide something in a peice of food than most people think. I find it easiest do to with a cake, so in that context is how I shall explain it. It's no more complicated than filling a cake with something else, fruit, ice cream , whipped cream and the like. Simply create the cake with a hollow cavity inside it then, instead of placing fruit or some other food inside, wrap the object (a book in this case) in plastic or wax paper, place it inside the cavity and cover it with the covering layer of the cake, apply icing and decorations and voila! Please remember to bake the cake before placing the object inside lest you risk ruining or even destroying the object you mean to place inside the cake. The hardest part of this, in my opinion, is finding the correct baking equipment and, sadly, I do not know where to find the correct equipment anymore Sad .

Well, under most circumstances, who would need to put an object (such as a book) inside a cake? Except maybe in this special circumstance. Even still, Jeff could just as easily hide it somewhere in the food cart (maybe a special compartment, (a drawer) or something and keep all the food on the top as it should be so it wouldn't look suspicious. The food has to get into Mary's room somehow. Plus, I highly doubt Simon Blue would spend all that much time worrying about it, though when hiding books as erotic in nature as Daphne's are, more precaution might be necessary so I could see why he might try to hide them in some type of dish.

Under most circumstances, yes, it would seem rather odd though it certainly got quite a few laughs when I hid a birthday present inside a cake I'd baked myself just for the occasion. I hid a golden locket inside it, in case you're you're curious.

Hello everyone. I do have a history I'd like to post, but first I must determine where as it's over 2 pages long. It wasn't originally written for Bon Bon but has adapted well enough, I think. Would you all prefer I post it here, start a new topic or post a link to it? Any of the above will be fine by me, I'd just rather not spam a message board without approval. I do hope a history of this length is not an imposition.

I say you go ahead and post it here though I do recommend you wait until you have your fursona created before posting it, though that's just my personal opinion and the final decesion is up to Vanessa, seeing as this is her Message Board, and you, seeing as it's your fursona's history. That, and the name of this thread is "Histories" Smile .

You can add it on to mine Xebulon. How is that pronounced may I ask? I was saying it: Zeb-boo-lon. Am I right?

Anywho, I'm going to start a new thread, but thats because my history is in 3 parts. A summarized history, and then one for each of them. I'm somewhat 2 people here, though I'm Labrn. Mystic is a side of me, that is also mostly based on a close friend of mine, but since she's not here, I'm both of us. ;P

Seeing all these wonderful histories and storylines I thought I might write something up with Fireheart. It's more or less the same idea in any of the background roleplays I do, but hey you guys might find it interesting. Warning: I'm not at all a good writer so be gentle. Embarassed

Not much is known about Fireheart, not many even know the name of the silent Huskie. He is auburn thoughout the most of his body, with his chest, hands and face peaking out in a grayish-white. When seen within civilization it's customary for him to only speak when absolutly neccesary, a habit of his people to the North. However, it is said his pale blue eyes speak more than his muzzle. He is an imposing figure, standing at just under seven feet tall and heavily muscled in his self training and lifestyle. The brand of a cresent-shaped moon is tatooed on the underneath of his left forearm.

He is a gruff, yet loyal creature in his mid twenties, he is often seen in simple rough black breeches with a hatchet strapped to his belt, a pair a thick brown leather boots, and a simple woolen gray shirt. During those uncommon formal occasions he replaces the grey shirt, with that of a royal blue.

During the times he does speak, it's quick and to the point. However, most people that cross his path understand the even-tempered Huskie to be a person of worth and honor. At times, when the moon is full and bright, Fireheart can be seen practicing with heavy throwing spears, praying to his ancestors for guidance and wisdom. When the moon is absent from the sky, he can be seen sitting alone in the nearby woods, dilgently sharpening the red-handled hatchet.

Often times he is mistaken as a mercenary, which isn't far from the truth. Should a job arise that coinsides with his guardian nature, Fireheart often doesn't even think, just accepts the job for whatever pay is intially offered. There have even been times that he returned his pay in events his skills are challenged, viewing as that to be payment enough.

At this time in his life he finds himself in the small town of Bon Bon, unsure what to think of women openly giving themselves to men for a price. But, it raises a lonliness within him he never realized before, thus he stays within the town, taking the oddjob here and there in search of an understanding of his emotions. These days you can find him wandering the streets, his hatchet at the ready, silently protecting all he can.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes it's short, but eh, I'm still learning. A little constructive critisism is much appeciated.

Edited: Added descriptions requested by Vanessa.

I thought it was quite good, it certainly appealed to my often practiced guardian nature, and, no offense to the others but, it was certainly a refreshing change from the other long written histories here but please don't get me wrong, they're all quite good.

You can add it on to mine Xebulon. How is that pronounced may I ask? I was saying it: Zeb-boo-lon. Am I right?

I'd always pronounced it Zeb-bew-lon, but either way works. Or just call me Xeb if you prefer. And I think I will take you up on your offer, thank you.
