I think it's really interesting to know how all people hear about Bon Bon.

So, I will start.

It was at the beginning of this year. Me was at the home of a friend and after I readed a book I looked what my friend was reading and gues what it was... He was reading Bon Bon at this site and I thought it got a interesting story so I had to become a member.

I first heard about BonBon back when it was part of the Vixine site when I was once a subscriber to it then after awhile I found out the comic was going to get it's own site and I think I did sign up the first day it was open.

Roughly the same for me, though I had to wait until the Visa signup was working. Don't tell anyone, but I stopped subscribing to Vixine immediately afterward. Razz

Just like this much better. Very Happy

I guess that makes me kind of a white elephant around here since I didn't really know much about Vixine before October or so of last year. I believe I stumbled across PBB on Google, though I forget exactly what I was originally searching for. Laughing Good thing I stumbled across it, then. I think Ksathra Blackfox also mentioned something about it to me at some point and may have given me the URL to the main site with the preview images. Soon after that, I decided to join up.

Since then, I've been in love with the site. Sadly, I don't have anymore history of how I found PBB besides that though furry worlds have always fascinated me and the world of PBB is quite unique!

I found it through the Vixine website, and the artist collective Xenographic (Hope I didn't mangle the name). I heard it was going to a full on webcomic when I was on deployment, but had to wait till I was back in the states before I could access it. It was worth the wait.

Ah yes Xenographia. I remember that site and I think parts of it is still up. I'm surprised that Vanessa doesn't have the stuff she had on there on here. Also I do believe Vanessa had another site that dealt with her other comic that she does as well and some of the early versions of some of the bonbon characters. I hope Vanessa doesn't mind if I post the links to her Xenographia section and her other site.

http://www.xenographia.com/Vanessa.htm (Xenographia site)

http://www.dillingercomics.com/ (The other comic site)

Also another reason why I post these links is because I also like Vanessa's work outside of bonbon as well. Smile

*Feels like he has a knack for digging things up that deals with various kinds of information* Makes me think my character's job should be someone who works at a bookstore or library.

I have a feeling that most of the "Royal Members" started off on Vixine and migrated over here, and I'm pretty much no exception...

Haha! It makes me really happy to know that you found my old works and that you like them even if they're pictures for all ages!
Xenographia was the official site for the italian furry artists, that now is about to open again under the name "Furrymania"... as of now, only the forum is up:http://www.furrymania.it/phpBB2/
On Xenographia I put both gallery and handcraft galleries, just like on DillingerComics, because in Italy I also work as a maker of bijouterie. I also got a stand in every comic con where I sell my creations, and I collaborate with the italian comic "Lys", where each month I have a fashion feature of my own where I explain how to make animal miniatures or jewels.
http://www.lysworld.com/
Xenographia's wolfette, created by me, was the site's mascot, a muse of the furry art!
http://www.xenographia.com/Wallpapers/Xenographia_Vanessa_800.jpg
http://www.xenographia.com/Xenographia_Mascotte/Xenographia_Mascotte_18.htm
In this gallery you'll find many fan art pictures:
http://www.xenographia.com/Xenographia_Mascotte_Gallery.htm
I'd like to make her do a cameo in PBB. And speaking of Cameos, if you noticed, Simon is played by Simeone, Dillinger's dad!!
http://www.dillingercomics.com/fumetti/charactes/Simeone,Derringer,ENG.htm
while in page 2, issue2,of PBB there's a cameo of Dillinger's rival, Leonida.
http://www.xenographia.com/Vanessa/leonida-sito.jpg
You see, I like to have my characters "act", using them in many stories, as if they were living actors to which I give a role!
In it you'll find Mary, Betty and Violet, that I've drawn from 1994 to 2000. They aren't pretty as they are now, since I was a beginner, but it's interesting to see how they developed and it's important knowing that PBB's characters have existed for many years.
http://www.dillingercomics.com/furry,art,galleries/Eng_Sketches.htm
Mary was my first furry, that I've drawn since I was ten! reading my bio you'll find out how PBB was born.

Another piece of news, someone built the page of Pleasure Bon Bon on Wikifur! Thank you, unknown admirer! And some friends added, in time, some other info; feel free to collaborate as well, in whatever way you like, adding more details on the content of the site!

Man, whoever wrote that Wikifur entry did a pretty good job summarizing the story so far, though of course leaving out all the juicy, steamy parts for the squeemish folks Laughing

I looked through some of those links, and found something very interesting on Vanessa's Xenographia profile...

Shocked I wonder what caused the change in heart... care to share, Vanessa? Wink

Heh, I'm mostly just teasing... I'm sure I've posted stuff on forums and the like that I would be shocked to read today. I just think it's funny because not too long ago I used to be somewhat more "puritanical" as far as my status as a furry: nothing above a PG-13 rating. Now... well, now I'm here... Laughing

Well, it's quite an easy topic, really, but it's hard to explain in just a few sentences. For me there is a difference between pornography and erotism.
I think ( this is only my personal opinion) pornography is a purely sexual point of view that is reduced to the act, without love or passion, and I was never interested in real life pornography (porn movies, naked ladies sites); it doesn't interest me because I feel truly satisfied with no need for this stuff, that is only used to ignite the instinct.
On the other hand, the erotism is sexual fantasy, is the way to see sex as a subtle pleasure, like a game, with different hues, with a minimum of "care" that looks for ever new ways to live a sexuality appeasing it without exaggerating.
love Dita Von Teese because she never needs to get fully naked and put on a vulgar act. Dita does really sensual strip teases, and at most she ends up on the scene with small stars covering her or in topless (this last much more rarely). But despite this, she's more appreciated than a dancer that gets on the stage already naked and shakes way too much. Dita is an artist, she got taste and class and knows how to drive a man nuts even just taking off a stocking!
let's remember the artistic difference between the erotic comic and the porn comic: the erotic comic is considered a masterwork. Milo Manara, Eleuteri Serpieri, Giovanna Casotto etc... are famous Italian erotic comic artists.
Look at this gallery:
http://perso.orange.fr/jean-claude.claeys/LIENS-PIN-UP.htm
They are very good erotic artists! I like it.
They put art and care at the first place in their works that have a complex structure, made of story and fantasy, but also of great artistic care. On the other hand, most porn comics are done by relatively unknown people and with no concern for any content that isn't sex, and therefore they're junk to me.
I never considered PBB as a porn product, but an erotic comic, since it has everything: story, humor, environment, direction, taste, fantasy, anatomy, color, historical detail, art, culture and good sex.
I like furry artists like Max Blackrabbit and Eric Schwartz, because they can do really good things! Sure, their art is hardcore too, but of high quality.
While some images that I find on the Chans... well, I don't like them at all because they're just vulgar, trash and I don't appreciate them at all. But I'm an artist, therefore I see things with a critical eye, and my tastes are very sharp and selective. I chose to draw erotic material when I received from Ronald the proposal to draw for him. Sure, I could have done a porn comic, but it wouldn't have been the same. I would have felt frustrated because I have some gifts I want to use. A drawn penis and vagina aren't enough to justify a pay site, there are way too many free (and ugly) things online, PBB had to be a quality product, or I would never have done it.
Of course, I'm aware that there are many good things on the free internet too... I was just trying to make a point!
On the matter of sex I consider EROTISM what is ART, and everything else pornography, and I don't like the kind exaggerated without logic.
I hope you'll understand my point of view, maybe because I'm an artist woman and us women see sex differently from men.

It's a distinction that I know I can agree with. There's a huge difference between photographs of anatomy and the words and/or pictures that tell a story of passion. It's just not interesting without real characters and enjoying how their personalities interact. How their anatomies interact is a visually expressive part of that. Wink

Not to mention I've given myself literal nightmares by looking through sites like Furaffinity or VCL. There might've been stories, perhaps, but none I would want to be a part of. *shivers*

Definitely like it here better.

I totally agree with absolutely everything you just said, Vanessa. It's refreshing to see someone who not only knows the difference between erotic art and pure smut, but can express it in their own body of work as well. I definitely hold all of the artwork from this site on a higher degree of appreciation than 90% of the stuff I've seen on pretty much every furry art site and chan board (like kommy mentioned, some of that stuff is pretty awful, and you can't "unsee" some of the worse ones).

When I was in highschool, I was like most overly hormonal teenage boys: chasing girls, looking for any kind of smut out of natural curiosity and for the cheap thrills it would elicit, and sometimes expressing my budding sexual interests through early attempts at erotic artwork (something resembly the forementioned 90% smut). I'm glad I later destroyed these "works of art", since they were really little more than a glimpse into my "Id" gone wild.
Then shortly before I went off to college, I discovered some books of short stories written by Anaïs Nin, and my whole perception changed. I think that's when I stated to understand that "erotica" and "erotic art" was not just fancy words for porn, and have since attempted to express this in the few erotic stories that I've written.

To me, what is "erotic" is more than just the mechanical "nuts and bolts" (excuse the expression) of sex and intercourse displayed in graphic detail. Even though I was just teasing Vanessa with my last post, I already knew at the beginning that Pleasure Bon Bon wasn't a simple work of pornography. The evidence is in the work iteself, the care she puts into developing the story and the characters...

Plus this is probably the only place I know of with such nice, polite, and (dare I say?) cultured fans.

Well, the broken record isn't quite skipping in the same place.

I agree, and disagree. I'd have to say I'm 80% for Eroticism, and 20% for just smut Razz I prefer background story and such, though theres always the proven fact "sex sells" so sometimes to get people to sink their teeth into something, you lower the bar a bit so people can hope over it and get sucked into the story. I know that I've searched for a few stories before (crusing VCL and what not like Kommy said) and occasionally I come across a good story. I get to the point where I don't even notice the sex, and just get right into the story.

For instance, Quest for Fun back on Vixine. I was interested in the story, and was a bit excited for Scrya when she ran into her first man. (writing Mystic's story, I know the excitement of her "first") Afterwards, I just got sucked into the story and started asking myself all those background questions you ask about a story you get stuck on. Wanting to know the background, "why do they feel that way", etc. But sadly for them, I've always been more interested in BonBon and Vixine over Quest for Fun, so now that they've been getting more into just "sex" I find myself growing distant of the place and will probably drop my subscription. (sorry if you guys happen across the message board *shrugs*)

I woudldn't be surprised if you've stolen a good part of their visitors Vanessa. Wink But "alls fair in love and web comics."

I do wonder though, how many members do we have here? How many are hiding in the shadows because they don't have a good story to go with their character, don't have quite the high vocabulation that can be found here, don't feel their "refined enough", or how many just come to the message board, take a look, and freak about how civilized it is and say to themselves on their way out "I just came for the boobies." Razz

I'm happy to say, I'm the line between. I try not to be too crude, but I can't always help myself to stay civilized (As you can tell with my side comments and my constant tongue sticking out face Razz) Being overseas in the military, my vocab and spellings not at the top unless I want to sit here with a permanent page open to "ask jeeves" for all my spelling errors and to look up this and that that I have no clue about. So, I wonder how many feel they fall under that boat? I mean, theres no set standards written in stone around here, but I wonder if other members and viewers get that impression? Or is it just me? *shrugs*

Hi there Smile Just recently registered to the forums even though I've been subscribing to PBB for a little while now ( had to use a friend's e-mail, wish I could change that though )

Anyway, I guess I'm a little unique, my GF introduced me to it as a sort of 'educational' idea I suppose. She wanted to show that there was a difference between pure sex ( or smut as you guys have put it ) and erotic art. I've been hooked ever since, I found myself engrossed in the overall storyline of PBB, of course the art is entertaining as well ~.^

Hey, you must have a really cool girlfriend, Fireheart. Oh, and welcome to the board!

As for Labryn's post, you're right, sometimes just plain smut is fine too, as long as you don't overload yourself.

And as for this message board being more "civilized" than most, I just think we seem to be collected of quite a few "budding" writers (and perhaps a few "seasoned" ones as well). I think once everyone started "showing off" their fursonas and creating backstories, the need for proper punctuation and grammar increased dramatically.

Besides, would you really want to put up with yet another online forum filled with ridiculous "l33t-sp34k"? ZOMG, that is teh suxx!!!!!!1!one11!

Heh yah my girl was my best friend in High School for three years. When we graduated we moved in together because well, we didn't have much else of a choice and acted as roomates. Didn't take long for more intimate feelings to surface. Probably one of the most secure women I've ever dated in my life, and the ONLY reason she introduced me to PBB.
