1 week before present day

Niger River Delta

8:45 in the morning

A small tent, with a short concentration of people, currently hold a meeting, a deal is being made between Nigerian nationalists, and a notorious arm dealer that goes by the alias of The Adder. Without them noticing that they are being tracked by a beast.

The one known as Alexander, hired by the French government to assassinate the Adder, and the two nationalists if possible. But the Adder was the primary target. With the Leopard a long barrel musket with a rusty iron sight. Although he had clear vision, of the target, the problem laid in the fact that he choose a tough place to hide, a nearby mosquito nest made it difficult to concentrate, as they're continued to bite unto his skin. Every sting felt like a needle, and he hated needles. Yet he was able to keep his calm, and take his mind off of the little pests. Noticing some disturbance, as the arm dealer began to get suspicious, it was better to pull the trigger now, rather than latter. With very little sound, the trigger was pulled, and in a short second the dealer fell down on the floor, his brains splattered on the wall behind him.

Looking directly at his actions, he did not took his eyes off the Adder. He had killed ounce again, and even though he was proud of his marksmanship, this wasn't what he wished for. In that very short minute, he sighed, as he turned back, deciding to spare the nationalist that had already made halfway of they're escape. The French promised him a handsome reward for his actions. 12,000 florins. It wasn't much for them, but for him it could get him a better life, a better chance to escape from this god forsaken world.

After collecting his reward, latter that day, he began to exhibit symptoms of Malaria, dizzy and a need to vomit, constant chills and a pale look in his eyes, the idea of hiding on a Mosquito nest, was not such a good idea, and this place lacked medicine. He decided, with a portion of the money he had, it was best to travel towards Europe, they had better medicine over there.

Present Day Bon Bon town. [Actually is Victorian period...]

The train ride was indeed hell, his head was dizzy, and he could feel the way the train moved down to his neck, the engine sound haunted his ears. God he wanted to die, but by some miracle or punishment, he was allowed to live through the whole darn thing. Alas the train ride was over, and he could get out of it. The people looked at him weird as he exited. He tried not to shove, but he wanted to throw up. "Dammit." he said as he finally exited, trying to regain his composure. Looking around town, this was indeed a different place, unfortunately the smell and the sights only helped triggered his symptoms, but at least some fresh air from that hell hole, helped him.

As the driver gently said as soon as he exited out. "You look like you never rode on a train before." Alexander didn't even bother to talk to him back.

I was one of those looking at the dizzy leopard as he made his hurried way out of the train, but my look was not of confusion or annoyance, but of concern. Once he was out, I saw him fight for fresh air, such behavior was only compatible with someone in serious need of a doctor, or of someone pathologically antisocial. Either way, best not to take any chances. Gathering my luggage, I did my best to get past the crowd in his direction.

"Excuse me, sir? Do you need any help? You seem ill"

Looked over to the male, and nodded. His vision was blurry and he could hardly tell how he looked like. "Malaria." he said before almost collapsing on the ground. He has been drunk before, but this felt worse than any self imposed intoxication he ever had. "Need a Medic."

"Oh dear. Please, let me help you. Sit down for a moment, I'll see if I can find us a carriage"

After helping him sit down on a bench and making sure he is relatively fine, I left the station, trying to fetch a transport for us.

Sitting down on the bench, resting slightly, as he sees the male leave to fetch a carriage. Looking at his arms at all the mosquito bites he had. Who would have thought, his greatest assignment, would come this close to claim his life.

It took a good 15 minutes, but I return to the sick leopard with the driver in tow.

"Get the luggages and load them into the carriage, please"

He nods and I do my best to lift the leopard up.

"Can you walk, sir?"

As the feline arrived he would smile, as he was lifted he nodded.

"I can walk, but i need someone to hold me from going to the sides." he said to the male, as he looked at the carriage. His vision was moving from side to side.

Having said this, I grabbed his left arm with my left paw, the right one holding him gently by the waist.

Walked towards the carriage, as his vision began to become normal ounce again. Looking over to the male and smiled as he was taken inside the carriage. He quickly took a seat, and looked over to him. I appreciate this sir." he said as his head rested down, and his eyes closed.

He looked better, even smiled at me, a gesture I returned.

"Don't mention it"

I then ordered the carriage to go, slowly as to not rattle more than the necessary.

"That one crisis may be fading now, but you need treatment else your life might be endangered"

Nodded as he looked down for a small second. He was still dizzy. "I came to Bon Bon specifically for treatment, i never thought that i would get worst in the train ride."

Smiled back towards the male, and chuckled slightly. "Your the doctor?" he asked. Before chuckling again slightly. "That's great." he smiled ounce again, but this time looking outside the carriage, at the city itself. "Such a nice city."

Curiosity brushed me as I leaned forward.

"I have to say I'm a bit surprised that you came to this town looking for medical care. Most come here for a different kind of... attention"

Looked at the male and smiled, nodding as he spoke. "I know about this place. To tell you the truth, i wished where i come from would be more similar to here." he said before offering his right hand in order to shake the male's. "My name is Alexander, and is good to meet you doctor." he smiled "I must be lucky, the first person i meet is a doctor."

Nods as his tail swayed gently. "Good to meet you then Doctor Lucian." he said nodding. Before he had another attack, starting with a small headache, as his vision began to blurr, this only lasted for a minute before he recovered.

Nods "Yeah, im lucky i have strong defenses, otherwise...i would have died on that train ride." he panted gently, as he felt his body refreshed, as his fever broke. "It's been five days since i began to feel the symptoms."

The carriage comes to a halt.

"Good, we are here"

I hopped out and huried to unlock the door, shouting for the driver to help Alexander.

Looked at the house and nodded "Nice home." he said as he came out, holding himself tightly to the carriage, as the driver came to sustain him, in order to enter the doctor's house. The luggage could wait, it was only clothing and an old rifle.

Ignoring my guest for a moment, I hurry to open the windows and let some light in.

"A few months and this place looks like a museum already..."

Dust clouds form as I try to shave some of it off

"Place him in the sofa!"

Smiled "Is not so bad." he said as he entered the Doc's home. Before sneezing thanks to the dust. The driver quickly put him on the sofa and he relaxed. Looking over to the doctor, as his tail swayed gently.

After the house was sufficiently lit, I return to the living room.

"The luggage, please, messere"

He nodded again.

"As for you, Mr. Alexander, relax. I should be back in a moment"

With that, I leave to find my instruments.

Laid his head down and sighed. Now that he was comfortable he felt better. But he had occasional attacks, and at the same time a running headache. Malaria was horrid, and now he knows why they call it Malaria, the word Mal is spanish for evil.

I return to the room after a while, holding a classical doctor's bag in my left paw.

"Very well, let's have a look"

I take out a stethoscope, a magnifying glass and other tools, and starts examining your condition.

Looked at the doctor, wondering exactly what he was looking at. Maybe it was his arms where he had the mosquito bites, his eyes to see the dilation of his pupils. Whatever it was, he might as well trust the doctor. Back home they would just spit on the mark and send him on his way, he knew that wasn't real medicine.

The procedure included the examination of the bites, your temperature, heartbeat.

"Ok, first order of business, you should lie down, let your dizziness fade away. You do that, I'll be back in a moment"

After making sure he can lie down on his own, I leave again

Nodded as he lied down on the sofa. Letting his dizziness fade. He waited for the doctor to come back, as he looked at the ceiling, his eyes became watery, as he was trying not to fall asleep.

I return after a while, with an ice bag and a sleeping mask.

"This should help"

I place the bag against your forehead and the mask over your eyes.

"These will help your fever and headache break. Relax now, I'll see if I still have malaria drugs"

I leave again.
