=Aordaf, Fort Oro=

The blue daemon caribou did not resist much when a cadre of daevas arrested and brought him to Fort Oro, built on a north to northeastern coastline of Aordaf. The daeva had started to build upon the daemon continent, but this wasn't important to HexPoint. These simply assumed he was another spy. He and his war pet were chained to a thick wooden post, and his possessions were being scrutinized, particularly the small book of daemon scripture. It was a typically crude handwritten copy, except that not even the daeva chaplain assigned to this outpost had ever seen one with so many verses blackened out and rewritten, expecially with pagan symbolism focused on allusion to the "twilight of this age". And so, the silver ram daeva chaplain asked for two extra guards to follow him for the interrogation.

HexPoint was in a harness of sorts, his arms and wings tied in an effective manner behind him. Snappy's yellow bulb head was also tied to his own viny tail, a feat that severely lacerated a couple of daeva to do. HexPoint made a show of staring the robed chaplain down as he approached, then spitting at his feet. He wanted his scriptures back.

"You daemon scum have no regard for even your unholy traditions, hm? What, were you not amused by your reconnaisance assignment and then decide to deface the history of your own filth? Hm? How many more of your kind are out here lying in wait to strike?"

HexPoint cracked his neck and scowled. "If your lackeys weren't so blinded by the Light, you'd all know that I am neither spy nor soldier, or that I am trying to flee Aordaf. I have no interest in waging war with your kind, just surviving..."

"You will give me the answer I want, daemon."

"You, all of you, will get the answer you need. And the answer is this: Know your prophets. See the signs. You-"

"How dare you blaspheme the prophets? And pretend to lecture a cleric of my stature with your simple minded babbling! How many more spies are with you, daemon scum?"

The daemon growled and put his head down, causing the chaplain's guards to hold their weapons at his antlers. HexPoint just looked up and in a seren voice recited, “And in those days when that light which is brighter than the sun shall falter, there will be heard an awful noise across the nations. It will be to the ears as a piercing riddle, and furs will tear each other asunder. They will see as if drunken with blood.” That is from the Book of Threnodies, Chapter 1, verses 5 and 6, And it has already come to pass. I experienced this first hand in the port City of Habibi. I was with other minstrels when it occurred. It always starts so small, then becomes something... engulfing! The signs are all there, but they were written wrong, in allegories. The darkness is behind me, spreading like wildfire, and I just want to move forward. I don't care about your soldiers or your games with the daemon. I just need to keep going east until I meet my inevitable fate. With my war pet and my damn book, of course."

The chaplain was taken aback by the daemon's knowledge, though he didn't fully comprehend why. "You are a prisoner now. If I decide to put you out of my misery, then thus it shall be. You are in no position to demand anything, daemon. According to prophecy, the darkness will be abated. That means the plague that is your kind will be no more.. by the hand of the holy daeva."

"Specist."

"Silence! I'll kill you!"

"Uh, you do know that's how we greet each other here in northeast Aordaf, right?"

The daeva ram seethed and shot a bolt of light into HexPoint's midsection, burning his fur so that a small puff of smoke lingered for a second. The daemon grit his teeth and fell to his knees before the chaplain, slowly breathing out a scream of searing pain. The chaplain kept his hand outstretched, his breathing one of excitement. "What... is your name?"

HexPoint looked up with one eye saying, "Are the daeva now practicing daemonic possession? How sacrilicious..."

Another bolt struck his exposed chest, and he fell sideways, tasting the dirt. The guards chuckled, one of them lifting him up by the antlers to remain kneeling before the chaplain. He asked again, "What... is your name?"

"Aaargh! HexPoint! My name is HexPoint!"

"HexPoint? Hm? You daemon and your self-depricating names. That translates into The Cursed Antler, is it? Hm? How right the cow who spawned you was. I will make an example of you, then... point by point. But first, your unnatural monster." The ram turned his feathered wings to HexPoint and fired another bolt into Snappy, a pained gritty screech escaping his petaled head.

Angered, HexPoint charged the chaplain, the taut chain keeping him from his wrath. "You filth! Dishonorable! Charlatan! By Peleg's Spear of Black, I will kill you with your own fire!"

The daeva ram just walked away nonchalantly, flipping through the defaced book of scripture. "Fire, hm? Burn it." he said, tossing it onto an anvil where a female kestrel hammered away by a small forge. She knocked the book off of the anvil and smirked, seeing the daemon cry for his war pet, then returning to her work.

HexPoint was frantic, as his salves were taken by the guards. He wished he could free himself from his bonds like his old friend Katmir could. Then he could turn his captor's heads into spell skulls and escape. Looking again towards the Moon, he pulled against his restraints, formultaing plans.

"By the Lords of Chaos, I do NOT have time for this!"

(A few links telling you the overall size and structures of the weapon site

Walking through the facility gates her eyes widened when she was actually past the wall, and inside the structure. Looking around she saw the 8 huge guns that would soon be ready for operation, that would protect her borders.. and help her conquer the world. with her hands behin her back, and her long scarleet robes flowed behind her, the escort turning around at as they reached one of the huge weapons smiled.

"Welcome Queen Liu Lu... to the weapon site... or as we have come to call it... Boom boom... Pffftt HAHAHAHA"

Liu Lu looked at the man sternly, and... unamused. Standing up straight, he calmed down.

"Right, I am sure you are wondering about the weapon's history itself. Now we have found that these weapons... are over centuries old. How old... we cannot tell. Thou..."

Liu Lu scoffed

"Stop babbling, I have not gone through endless hours of boredom just to get here, and to be told a stinking history lesson. I want information on why it was built and if we can use this giant... to our advantage."

As she said this, a huge dark and wicked smile came across her face. Then looking at the Fox she presumed, he was so dirty she couldn't tell as she waited for a respectavle answer.

Um... yes well we believe that these where once things that protected people from the skies. We found a huge crater.. not to far from here, that suggests that a star could have once fell from the sky. This weapon might have been built to protect the creators, from these falling stars. However, we found that it has another purpose. It can be used as a weapon... as you had hoped for us to find out actually..... A very powerful weapon, one that could help you take the world for yourself. So that all may share the prosperity of Chengbao."

She looked at him, as she felt the rush of power and control overwhelming her. Then with a interested smile she looked at him.

"Has... has it been tested."

Thhe man looked at her confused.

"Well... no, we are not even sure if it is safe to use. A backfire could easily destroy this entire region. I mean... the thing is incredibly dangerous."

Liu Lu looked quickly at the Fox.

"I have to see it work... show me how it works."

The man then, standing frozen for a few seconds. Then bowed and respected her wish.

"Follow me my Queen"

Taking her on long walk to the center of the facility. She had them go into a long elevator, which as they stood. Liu Lu fidgeted with anticipation, waiting to see the core of the mechanism. Then after a few long minutes, they came to a sudden halt. Walking out first, Liu Lu pulled the Xing power core out of her sack as she saw the core mechanism. Then running with the glowing orb in her hand over to the central core. She thrust it into the machine, after a few small seconds of silence. Huge gears could be heard moving, the room lit up and the entire machine seemed to come to life. Up above the weapons as well as the grid glowed with a pale purple light. Muttering ancient words and dialects Liu Lu's eyes began to glow purple. She began to rise out of where she stood and as she did moved her hands, directing one of the guns up above. Turning towards the Dragon Scream mountains. As her hair floated in the air like it was in water, she smiled and yelled words which could not be interpreted. Nor did they sound natural, they ringed out in the room. Shaking the very foundations of the weapons base. Then using both hands she shot a huge black beam into a collector at the base of the core. Which then began to spin, as the machine shot off huge black bolts of electrical static, then the collector began to spin, and the machine could be heard powering up. Then with a mighty roar the Xing power core turned black, and a huge beam was shot into a pipe that groaned as the force of the beam hit it. Then out of one of the guns the huge beam was shot. A deafening roar ringed out across the land. It rang in the as far as the plain of Liang to the north, it echoed through the caves and hallows of the Dragon scream mountains, as far as the great eastern shore. The beam screamed across the sky, as the sonic power of the weapon shattered the sky. The waves hitting the ground with destructive force, blasting away leaves off of trees, and wiping out small abandoned structures as if they had never been there. Then when the beam itself hit the mountain range, It blew the top off of the mountain it hit, and destroyed the mountain... turning it into a stump, a hill. Then as the static of the weapon fizzled in the air. Liu Lu while in the cave... slowly floated back down to the ground. Weakened by the experience.

Hennel Forest Chenera

Dern poured water on the fire as Aline had instructed him, to ensure no residual sparks would start a blaze. As he stood and watched the smoke rise, he held the bucket, created with Aline's magic, in his hand.

"Where are we going? You must have some idea of where you want to go."

Aline wrapped the jerky strips in large leaves she had found, stuffing them in a pack she had created from the deer's hide.

"Honestly I don’t know ...it's not like I’m on a mission ...I’m just out traveling to ease my boredom"

"I see,"

He wasn't sure what else to say. After a few minutes, he spoke.

"The capitol city is quite large. Maybe you can find something to do there,"

He suggested. Then, as an afterthought, he said

"I don't mean to offend you, but is there any way you can hide your wings? I mean, so that they don't get you into trouble again."

"You’re here to vouch for me as a guard of a city with a magistrate you have the power to let people know I’m not a deamon"

She finished packing the jerky and handed Dern the bag with a bit of force. it really got under her scales that her wings were what marked her as something other then what she was

"I'm afraid that I don't have that kind of authority,"

Dern said with a frown.

"Only an official pardon from the magistrate himself would do that. Perhaps that should be our first stop. If we go to the capitol and see the king, prove you are not a Daemon, maybe we can get a pardon from him."

"Fine we shall fly to the city then they cannot deny what I am if I fly in right"

She said trying not to lose her temper.

"I don’t see why a guard of the magistrate can’t vouch for me"

"I'm just a guard. I have no actual authority, except over other guards under my command. But in another city, I'm afraid the best I can do is getting you in to see the king faster than normal. As for flying in,"

Dern frowned,

"If you flew over the city in your true form, I'm afraid you may cause panic which wouldn't go down well with the local law enforcement. However, if you landed outside the city walls and approached from there, the guards might be less inclined to attack."

Aline snorted at Dern and walked over to him taking the bucket she had made setting it on the ground, she caused it to return to its base elements, which was a pile of twigs. she then went to the lamp by the stream she picked it off the tree and it returned to the pile of pebbles she had created it out of. The she turned to Dern and transformed in to her true form looking at him with her large eyes she spoke.

“You will have to be carried my scales are far too sharp for a saddle or your lap....if you lay facing my stomach you will not get wind burn”

Dern looked up at her from the ground where he'd fallen. Her sudden transformation had taken him by surprise, along with many of the surrounding trees which were now crushed and toppled.

"If that's how it has to be,"

Dern groaned as he stood up.

"Don't drop me,"

he said as she lifted him into the air. Aline chuckled and pressed him to her soft underbelly before lifting off into the air. It was just under an hour later when she was landing just outside the city gates setting Dern down on a grassy spot to the side of the road, on his rear she also sat and waited for him to recover.

Masabur Chenera

"I’m used to carrying prey I hope I didn’t crush you"

Dern stood for a moment, his arms out to his sides to balance himself.

"I'm fine; I just need to orient myself. I'm not exactly used to being carried by a dragon."

Aline continued to sit there in her dragon form waiting for Dern to recover and for the city garrison to respond to her presence outside the gate

"Well luckily for you my stomach scales are as soft as silk"

Dern recovered and turned to Aline.

"Alright, I'm fine now. Let's go,"

Turning, the ex-guard walked towards the city gate with the large purple dragon following behind him. The guards had gathered already and were prepared to defend themselves if need be.

"We come from Ventori. We mean no harm,"

Dern said to the guards, stopping several metres from them.

"What business do you have?"

The head guard asked, eyeing Aline's massive figure.

"We seek audience with the king,"

Aline shrunk as she transformed to her anthro form once she was fully transformed she spoke.

“I am Aline one of the last dragons to roam this planet and I need a pardon from the kind for most mistake me as a deamon because of my wings”

After her speech she realized she had no clothes and sighed before forming her dress out of thin air it didn’t cover much but at least she wasn’t naked any more. The guards stared for a moment at the naked beauty, her words falling on suddenly deaf ears. When her dress formed, they snapped out of their trance, though they continued to glance in her direction at the quite revealing gown.

"We will escort you to see the king, Follow us."

The city guards led Aline and Dern through the city and straight to the palace. In the throne room, they presented the city's guests to the king.

"Sire, This guard from Ventori and his companion wish an audience with you."

The king, a cheetah in his mid 40's, stood up.

"What can I do for you this fine day?"

Aline bowed before the King for a moment before standing, and smiling up at him her hands out in a peaceful jester.

“I am Aline, resident of dragon scream mountains to the south ...I have ventured out into the world only to be met with hostility for having wings that mark me as a deamon and I have come to you for a official pardon so that I can avoid any more difficulties in the future.”

She then kneeled before the king in a show of humility.

"So, you wish for a pardon to show that you are not a Daemon. I can see that your eyes do not glow, but I am afraid I will require more proof than that,"

The king said calmly.

"She is a dragon. I will vouch for this as I have seen it with my own eyes,"

Dern said and the guards nodded in agreement.

"A dragon, you say?"

The king stepped forward, approaching Aline, his eyes taking in her curvy figure.

"Show me your true form and you will have your pardon. The gardens are this way."

Aline waited till the guards were between them before following the king out of the hall and into the gardens, just because the king was at ease with her didn’t mean the guards were ok with her and she knew it. Once they were outside in the open she walked away from her audience towards a large open space, planting her feet she figured she would give the king a little show. Holding up her hands, her dress dissolved first leaving her standing there naked, before she started to grow in size. Once the transformation was finished she leaned forward so that she went from standing on her two hind legs to all fours, making the ground shake under the impact before spreading her enlarged wings.

“How is that for proof sire?”

The king swallowed. Her display was a feat to behold. Her naked figure caught his attention and her transformation was more than enough proof. Kneeling, he looked up at her.

"I am honoured to be in the presence of such a powerful and majestic creature. Your pardon is granted. I will have a certificate written immediately with my seal. Show it anywhere you go and you should have no problems."

Aline nodded her great head before shrinking in size to her anthro form once more, forgetting her clothes again, she stepped closer to the king to take his hands and stand him up.

“How about we enjoy this beautiful afternoon before I leave your hospitality sire?”

The king stood and tried hard not to stare at Aline's curved figure.

"It would be my pleasure to have you as a guest,"

He said kissing her fingers, while wishing he could kiss a lot more.
After a moment Aline realized she once again forgot her dress and it reappeared with a wiggle of her fingers and a whisper of her voice

“Forgive me sire I have spent all my life in my cave away from the eyes of men and forget to dress myself...”

The king chuckled a little.

"I doubt you will receive many complaints. You have quite the figure,"

The cheetah said, blushing a little.

draco was practiseing his fithing skills againt a encahted suit of of amor that jenny had conjured up for him over the years draco had become a very feared and violent fighter

his skill's had shown great improvment since he first joined the rovers draco could si=till rember the day he joined and was trained by his master one of the greast rovers alive master kendall roshi.

his mind was now preociped and suddnly he felt the siut of amors blade nick him across the face.

suddnly draco's eyes flashed with pure rage and a vicous snarl escaped his mouth witch made jenny jump in fear

"YOU SON OF A BIT........." draco then dodged the swing of the suit of amors blade and bawled his hand into a fist and slammed it into the suit of armos helmut sending it crashing into the wall.

"I'LL KILL YOU YOU HEAR ME I'LL RIP YOU TO SHREDS" draco then rushed at the armor while dodgeing another swing of it's blade and grabbed it's arm and lifting it over his head he sent it crashing to the floor and then smashed it's hemlmut to icecs with a very viosous kick

The Order of the Long Walkers took part of its name from the habit their members had of tirelessly walking. Where most battle-hardened soldiers would stop after fourteen-hours of marching, the Order could walk for days without resting. Some even theorize that members of the Order didn't need rest. They say that magicks they cannot fathom allow for the Order to drain the life and energy from the plants and animals around them, giving them an un-natural endurance. Some scholars have even postulated that, if the Order chose, it could walk to the ends of the world and back, without stopping.

For three days straight Caroline had walked along dusty roads to the border of Lunar. It had taken her and her companion another day-and-a-half to reach the town of Jena. Being a border-town, Jena received much of its importance from the well-traveled roads and caravan routes that used it as a last stop before heading out into the frontier. All manner of travelers made their way through the town, giving it a constant buzz. It had long ago replaced the earthen and wooden stockade with high walls of solid stone. The town even boasted cobblestone roads within the city walls. Sun-bleached banners billowed from tower ramparts. Town militia idly stationed the town gates, carelessly checking papers and credentials, as throngs of people came and went. It didn't matter what season it was, Jena was a border town. People always came and went.

Under an unseasonably-hot sun, Malinkov and Caroline waited in Market Row. As was his place, Malinkov stood while the wolverine-girl sat at the table. He would only sit when the blessing was granted to him. Using a set of calipers, she measured distances on the leather map in front of her. Idly the revenant noticed the wolverine-girl wore her porcelain mask today. The smell of the town must be displeasing to her. So many people packed into such an urban area was bound to have a sour, sweaty aroma to it. Looking through his own porcelain mask, Malinkov took note of all the goings on around him. He watched as clergy-folk gossiped outside the cathedral. Fishmongers and greengrocers shouted about the freshness and quality of their goods. Children masked their pick-pocketing by pretending to chase each other around the square. Malinkov fidgeted with the peace-knot on his scabbard.

"Nervous about something? Notice anything out of the ordinary?" asked the necromagus.

"No. Are you certain this will be where she comes to next?"

"No, One really doesn't know where the wild-kin will show up… however, it is the only town close to the last incident. There was a life essence unaccounted for that drifted in this direction. In addition, border towns have an odd habit of pulling strange things to them like moths to flame."

"How will we know whats she looks like?"

"She'll be a dragon-kin. She'll stick out like a fox in a hen-house."

"That doesn't help."

Malinkov could tell Caroline was smirking under her porcelain mask. "Certainly it does. If she's a traveler, she won't look the part correctly. Either she'll have weapons a traveler doesn't normally carry, or that look too… expensive for the rest of her clothing. In either case, we'll know as soon as he passes through the town gates."

"Am I to subdue and capture her?"

"No."

"No?"

"We are not certain of what her skills and abilities are. We will observe and test her. If One's science works, we'll proceed that way. If not… One has found a ritual in the Lexicon that might act as a spell of binding."

"Something I remember tells me wild-kin do not bind easily or well."

"One knows, Malinkov. But One bound you, so One should be able to bind them. Have the baker bring me some bread with butter and honey, Malinkov," instructed the wolverine girl as she went back to her map.

"Yes, Mistress."

Vailen had parted company with the others not long after leaving the fort. He started traveling east towards Pennyork. Once he reached the eastern coast he would take a ship and head to one of the many nations of Lordain. That is until he realized that he’s never been to Chenera. Changing his mind he turned west. It would be risky seeing how his Father was looking for him but it was a chance he was willing to take.

As he moved westward he saw more Lunar Soldiers about. It was starting to worry him a bit. The last time so many Lunar Soldiers were about was during the third war against Pennyork. Like all the other wars Pennyork bit off more then it could chew when facing Lunarian Legions. However, Lunar and Pennyork were at peace and had been for many generations. Though the Nobles in Pennyorks southern provinces were constantly penetrating Lunar and causing trouble. For the most part the two Empires were becoming closer. Though the two were not allies, they were at least starting to become friends.

He saw a small troop approach and decided to ask what was going on. He hid his face so that they wouldn’t be able to recognize him.

“Excuse me, can one of you please tell me what’s going on?”

The commander rode up beside Vailen and shrugged.

“Don’t really know good sir. All any of us know is that something has happened in Pennyork. There hasn’t been any panic from the populace so its not an invasion. Whatever it is though our ambassador has been unable to see the Pennyork Emperor. They had a meeting set up and before they were to meet it was canceled. At the same time some unknown enemy is attacking the Roarac Islands, a large group of Islands East of Aordaf. Whatever is attacking them has got the Daemon nations all riled up. Not taking any chances Emperor Orden has ordered that all forts be manned and more patrols sent out. Thats all I know so far. I’m sorry sir but I must get going. Have a good Day!”

Vailen thanked them and watched as they continued on their way. He leaned over and gently scratched Tazor’s head.

“Hmm, this is interesting eh Tazor. Ah well, I hope father isn’t over reacting but... he never over reacts.”

With that the two continued on their westward journey.

Close by a pair of Tiger eye’s was watching Vailens interaction with the soldiers. Chen Tzu had been following Vailen since he left the fort. One of the best trackers of the Luoba tribe of the Chenbao Confederation, his orders were clear. Find the missing prince and if at all possible bring him to the Confederation. Using an orb he contacted Lord Nu Xiong and reported in. After that he got on his horse and continued to fallow Vailen, making certain to stay down wind so his Eldar mount would not smell him.

Philip watched as the last crate was loaded onto the ship. It then boarded the ship and looked about. In all there were five hundred vessels. Each one carrying over three hundred Reavers. In short order Philip ordered the armada to set sail. It would take several days to reach the mainland. Once there Philip would continue to follow its orders. It flexed his hand as it thought out all strategies, on the hand was a tattoo of a feral bald eagle holding a thirteen arrows in one talon and an olive branch on the other. In the center of the eagle was a shield with red and white stripes running down the shield except for a strip of blue running along the top.

The sun had just begin to rise over the mountains in the east, the sky turned a very dull yellow. The morning air was frigid, the first sign that the colder seasons were approaching the Pennyork homeland. Casidian woke, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. He stood up, stretched, and walked to the window. The streets were still empty, the city having not yet awakened from it's slumber. Casidian could feel the drafts through the window cracks. It wouldn't be long before snow started to fall. Snow always affected Casidian differently than others.

It was in the snow that he and his sister played, making snow devas, not having a single care. It was also that day in the snow when the runner came through the gates, screaming of a massacre. Through that snow, the people of Erst lined the road as the tattered stragglers of the 17th legion returned, followed by a cart draped with the legion's flag. It had been an ambush by the hands of Lunar, right before the last great war ended. Not one soldier could tell exactly what happened. Some didn't have a clue what was happening to them, others just didn't want to retell the story. They were swept up without warning, destroyed. Casidian's father had been the leader. He wasn't spared.

Casidian dressed quickly, fixed his fur, and headed for the door. Everyone was still asleep, so he quietly opened the door and headed out. Goldsweek Tavern. Casidian had been there a few times before, not recently though. It was a short walk through the cold to the 24 hour bar, where people drink the night away. He opened the door and took a few steps in. A few heads turned towards him, but otherwise activity inside was scarce.

Casidian walked to the bar and took a seat, the only other patron a man with his head down on the bar. Casidian's head swiveled back and forth, looking for any sign of the "partner." The barkeep walked over, tiredly asking if he wanted a drink. Casidian gave a distracted no, keeping his eye out. The patron rose up and said, "Come on now Casidian, have a drink."

"How do you know me?" Casidian replied.

"How do you think I know you?"

Casidian took a moment, and said, "I see, so YOU'RE the one-"

The patron shook his head and yawned.

"Now please, lower your voice."

"Why," Casidian said, "is someone listening?"

"No, my head hurts."

"Oh. So..." Casidian led on.

"Oh, yes, you'd like to hear about this little plan the empire has for us?"

Casidian nodded, looking to see if anyone was listening. Nobody cared.

"Well, we're going after someone."

"Where is he?"

"Lunar."

"What? Lunar? but we've been at peace. You think they did it?"

"I know they did it. There are a few people we need to get to first though. High profile guys, low profile mission."

=On a northeastern coast of Aordaf, at Fort Oro…=

HexPoint wakes up startled from his horrendous dreams with a hand over his snout in the dark evening. The deva kestrel female from the smithy put a finger to her beak. The daemon caribou kept silent and smirked when she held up his spell skull belt and coral sword. She whispered. “I will free your familiar if you can help with our escape.”

“My illusions will only hide us from sight.”

“Make haste.” she said, making short work of his bonds.

Soon thereafter, they ran towards the shore and flew off over the Crimson Tide. The deva spoke loud over the rushing waters, “ Godis Osom!”

“What god is awesome? What do you mean?”

“No. My name is Godis. Godis Osom. And I despise that false chaplain with every feather on my body. What’s your name?”

“It’s HexPoint.”

“Oh, because you’re a wizard?”

“Yes, of course. But why would you risk your station? Why free us?”

“Well, the chaplain is on a crusade and I want no part of it. He mistreats me, and I hate being dragged into a war I just don’t believe in. You’re more capable than a spy, and…”

HexPoint took note of her unfinished sentence, and the stars, but didn’t press with questions. He instead wondered how he was going to get his fire-kill for his master spell. Time was extremely short, but something was troubling him. This Godis deva reminded him of himself when he killed his entire regiment to create his own destiny in… “The Twilight of an Age.”

“What? It will be morning soon enough, HexPoint.”

HexPoint glanced down at Snappy, who was badly burned by the chaplain, then looked at Godis. “Are you aware that the world is truly coming to an end… Godis?” He

( This is the marking burned onto Liu Lu's skin.

http://verytattoo.com/wp-content/uploads/celtic_tattoos.jpg )

As Liu Lu floated down to the ground, her escort as well as guards, looked at her in awe. Not only because of how she had summoned a spell of such magnitude and force. It was because this tigress someone who had been viewed as kind and gentle, loving and caring had just violently awoken a weapon which had not been fire or used in centuries. Like a horrible beast the ground around the men and tigress groaned under the pressure. As in the sky above the echo of the weapons power was ringing aloud.

In the Dragon Scream mountains the sound of the weapons mighty force echoed throughout the mountain range, until it reached the cave of a dragon, unknown to much of the world. The mighty waters of the Tong sea trembled from the weapons force. The mighty resound of Chengbao had been heard throughout all of the eastern world. Like a sleeping Dragon they had awoken, a mighty flame now born.

Meanwhile The mighty mass above the Queen and her subjects slowly lowered back into position. As the steel itself groaned falling back into place. The many scientists and soldiers cowered in fear and whimpered. Then there commanders came around them and rallied them back up. Such a thing was unknown to them. The weapon itself had performed beyond what had been expected. Much to the mixed feeling of joy and fear the more invigorated scientists felt.

Now the Queen herself, laying on her face as the ground around the men slowly became silent. Her arm trembled, and she tried to lift herself up. She could not though, a hole had been burnt through the clothing covering her breasts. It was a symbol of a triangle, bound by itself. It was colored red and had burned through her clothing as it was burned onto her body. She laid on the ground, helpless and unable to move.

Then her troops came and lifted her up. Her body seeming almost lifeless, as she was carried away the Xing power core cracked. The exertion on the core had been a little much, but the weapon was still deadly very deadly. Carried out into the open, they made their way over to main facility. Where they placed her on a large bed, and then doctors examined the marking on her body. It was identified as something to control her power, a reminder of never to be so reckless again. If she was though... it would mean her death. She laid on her bed passed out for the time being, but when she awoke. It would mean the beginning of her new era.

Masabur Chenera

The king turned to Dern.

"Will you be staying in my city? Or do you wish to return to Ventori?"

The cheetah asked. Aline looked over at Dern and the king

"I think Dern wants to return home and help the magistrate help rebuilding his decadent mansion"

"I was kind of hoping to stay with you for a little longer, Aline,"

Dern said, blushing a little. Aline furrowed her brows looking at Dern realizing what she had done, she then grabbed Dern’s hand.

“My liege would you please excuse me and Dern, we need a private discussion”

Dern followed Aline a little shyly, He knew she was going to say no. He'd experienced great pleasure with her and desired to stay with her for a time longer. He couldn't help but feel a little selfish and greedy in hoping he could experience it again. Once in a secluded spot of the garden Aline looked at Dern.

“Darling it’s nothing against you but I have a one night rule, mortal men are too fragile for me ... I don’t want to fall for you only to have you leave me in the end, it is better for the both of us to just part ways now”

"I understand,"

Dern said. He wanted so badly to spend another memorable night with the dragoness, but he kept his mouth shut.

“Why not stay a little longer, There are things that need to be done."

The king dismissed the guards from garden gates and led Aline and Dern back inside.

"First on the list should be your pardon, I'll have it written up immediately ...This way."

The cheetah continued to lead Aline and Dern to his war room where he went into a drawer and took out an official, royal paper. After dipping a quill in some ink, he wrote out the pardon, dripped some hot wax onto the page and embedded his seal into it. After rolling the page up and slipping it into a small tube, the King handed it to Aline.

"This should see that you no longer have any problem with mistaken identity,"

Aline took the scroll and then looked up at the King.

“Ummm I want to lodge a formal complaint against the magistrate of Ventori ....His mansion would be intact if he had just allowed me the same courtesy you did, and ...I want to pay for the damages I caused...so if you could also send a messenger to find how much the repairs will cost I will provide the funds.”

The king thought for a moment.

"I had heard that the magistrate’s mansion had received some damage. But as to how it happened, nothing was ever said. I will investigate the matter,"

He said while bowing his head before the majestic beauty. Aline inclined her head then looked at Dern before looking back at the king.

“My lord could you send a guide with Dern that is proficient in wilderness living, the magistrate does not train his guard in such survival skills”
The king chuckled.

"The Magistrate's guards rarely have any reason to go out into the wilderness. As such, they would have little use in such training. But I will send a ranger with him. They are our scouts and sped much of their time in the wilderness."

Aline smiled and sat down in the nearest chair crossing her legs

“So what can I do for a few days here in your royal presence...that won’t get me hanged or tossed in the dungeon?”

"If it interests you, I would like to personally show you around the city. I assume you haven't been outside of your home for very long. There may be some things you aren't aware of that most of us take for granted, I have nothing of real importance scheduled for the next week. So I would humbly like to ask that you be my guest of honour."

Aline giggled and covered her mouth with three of her fingers.

“King Harden it would be my honour to walk the city streets with you.”

She wished she could keep Dern around as a companion but she had tried that many years ago when she was only 100. It didn’t end well for her heart only a man of her species will suffice for her because at least he will only die from fighting. She looked over at Dern with sad eyes, as these thoughts ran through her head.

"I think it best if I take my leave now,"

Dern said Blushing, he approached Aline.

"If I'm not too out of line, may I request one last kiss before I go?"

Aline smiled and stood up she turned to Dern.

“Dern I will miss you with all of my heart, but I will live for another thousand years and you will live 50 at most.”

With that she put her arms around his neck before leaning in for a strong meaningful kiss as only two lovers could share her left hand sliding to his cheek as her body pressed closer to him. As Dern kissed her, he couldn't help but roam his hands over her curves. For the remainder of his life, those last moments with Aline would stay with the guard. The feeling of her body pressed to his, the curves of her body on his hands and the taste of her lips on his. With a slight grin, King Harden leaned against his desk, enjoying the passionate moment.

The inn was packed. Wood, in the immense, stone, fireplace, burned red-hot. The kitchen roared as cooks were constantly making meals for the patrons. Sommeliers constantly shuffled up and down the stairs to the wine cellar bringing up cask after cask of wine for the customers to drink. The innkeeper had already bought a new gross of candles from the waxworks, and those new candles had already burned down to a nubs. Farmers and locals had all began to congregate at the Wet Badger Inn for hours on end. They had all come to listen to the newcomer, a currier who had returned from the Far East. It wasn't often that those skilled in the magicks of movement came to the Jena. And, as such, the odd visitor was enjoying his notoriety as he relaxed in the common room of the inn.

Smiling from ear-to-ear, the rabbit couldn't help but feel like he was on center stage. He had already enjoyed three days of room and board for free, and all he had to do was tell stories of Masabur. He chuckled to himself, as he sipped at his brandy, and chatted with the locals. The patrons sat on his every word, and believed every yarn he spun about the far-off land. Only one pair didn't seem interested in his stories, but that was no matter. There would always be philistines on the sidewalk.

Across the bar Caroline sat, studying the map of the town in front of her, and scratching notes into the Lexicon. As was her habit of late, she wore the porcelain mask again. Malinkov dutifully stood behind her, the only armed patron in the greatroom. Occasionally one of the serving girls would check on the pair, only to be shooed away by Malinkov. Caroline stretched in her chair, then turned her head to look at Malinkov's hand.

"You are polydactyl," the necromagus noted.

"No, it is how I am."

"Curious. No other creature has four fingers and a thumb. Show One your other hand."

Malinkov brought forth his left hand to the gaze of his mistress. "It is the same on this hand as well. Four fingers and a thumb. You know, the one time One did see you, you did not look like any skeleton One had seen before. What are you?"

"I am a revenant."

"One knows that. What are you?"

"I do not know, Mistress. I can remember some things about these lands, but… these memories are all like gossamer-thin dreams… like the disturbance a rose petal would have on a pool of molasses."

"Very poetic, Malinkov."

"My apologies. I cannot answer any better than that." Malinkov leaned over the wolverine-girl, and looked at the city-map she had unrolled in front of her. "Have you determined anything from your map, or the Lexicon?"

"Not yet."

"Do you think our dragon-kin has arrived?"

"That fact, One does not believe has happened yet. One believes our bait might be enroute to this town. One needs older maps to better divine where the wild-kin resides."

"Do you want me to investigate?"

"Not yet. There are many oddities in this town that One needs to address."

A large amount of shouting and laughter erupted from across the greatroom, causing Caroline to snap the nub of her pen. Infuriated she snapped her fingers to get the attention of one of the serving girls. A ferret, around the gaggle of people, looped over to Caroline and Malinkov. Irritated Caroline asked, "Who is that peacock and the gaggle he has brought with him?"

Hiding behind her tray, the girl answered, "That's Master Bonner. He's a currier and he just came back from the Far East."

"Well, tell Master Bonner he is not the only patron in this greatroom, and he should be conscious of his noise level."

"I'm sure he meant no harm, miss. It's just he was talking about the King of Masabur, and how the King has a new Dragon-pet."

Instinctively Malinkov's hand went over the pommel of his sword. Caroline asked, "What did you just say?"

"Ma'am… I… I said Master Bonner was telling a story of Masabur."

"What story?"

"A-about the King of Masabur and his new Dragon."

Caroline waived away the ferret, who was all too glad to oblige. Standing up, she walked over to where the mass of people were. The gaggle parted as she walked through them. She stopped, standing across from the rabbit, and waited. The other patrons started to mumble about how late it was, and it being time to head home. Soon it was just the rabbit, Caroline, and Malinkov.

"I… ah, see you chased away everyone else. Did you want me and my stories all for yourself?" joked the rabbit.

Caroline did not answer. Through the porcelain mask, she stared at him. Swallowing, the rabbit again jibed, "You, you've always been welcome to j-join my party. I… ah… I'm sorry for disturbing your work. I'll… ah… I'll keep it quiet from here on."

"Aren't you going to offer a seat to Mistress Wellwater?" sneered Malinkov.

"OH! Oh, that's what all this is about. Please, please, please sit. Where are my manners. You'll forgive me, I've spent so long in that barbaric country that I've forgotten what civility is. Please, please sit. Did you need anything to drink… or… er… eat perhaps?"

Caroline pulled out a chair, and sat down. For several moments she said nothing. She fussed with her skirt, and the lace at her cuffs, and how her cowl sat over her mask. At long last, she again stared at the rabbit.

Nervousness crept into the rabbit. He could feel his pulse begin to quicken. "Um…" faking a yawn he continued, "…ah, excuse me. I didn't know how late it was either. I… ah, should be retiring myself. Please, don't get up. I'll… see myself out. It was good meeting you, miss."

The rabbit moved to push away from the table and stand up. Halfway-up, Malinkov placed his armored hands on the shoulders of the rabbit, and pushed him back down into his chair. He then pushed the chair back into the table, pinning the rabbit in-between the two. "Oh, don't get up. We just arrived."

A finely-engraved, highly-polished, gold pocket watch dangled from Caroline's fingers. It was so shinny and sparkly that the rabbit couldn't look away from it. It twirled at the bottom of the chain, making all sorts of shimmers and sheens of light. "That… that is… that's a lovely watch."

"One thinks so as well. Thank you. You said you arrived from Masabur, correct?"

The rabbits eyes followed the watch as it swung in an arc, back-and-forth. "Yes."

"And you told a story about the King of Masabur and his pet dragon?"

"No… not a story."

"Not a story?"

"No… not a story. The truth. The King of Masabur is entertaining a Dragon-girl. She's been received as his guest for a couple of days."

"And this is not a tale or a fable?"

"No. I was delivering a package of medicinal herbs to the Royal Apothecaries of Masabur. I heard stories of the dragon."

"Did you see this dragon?"

"Yes… she traveled with the King, as his guest."

Caroline continued to gently swing the watch in a pendulum motion. She smiled behind her mask. "Tell me everything you know about this King's Dragon."

It had taken a couple of days but Vailen and Tazor had reached the port City of Teffa. Once there Vailen started to ask around for any ships going west. Not far from Vailen, Chen was making his report.

“I believe I can get him on board without any trouble my lord. It seems he wishes to travel to Chenbao. I’ll get him aboard the Xia Ti.”

A few minutes later Chen approached Vailen.

“Excuse me my good sir but are you looking for a ship to take you the Chenbao?”

Vailen turned to the tiger and nodded.

“Yes, but how did you know?”

“I couldn’t help but overhear you.”

He bowed.

“I am Chen Tzu and I know of a ship that can take you there. I am heading home myself so I would be honored if you would care to join me.”

Vailen looked at the tiger for a bit and nodded.

“Alright then.”

He reached out his hand.

“My name is Vailen by the way.”

Chen took Vailen’s hand and shook it.

“An honor.”

‘Prince Vailen,’ Chen thought.

A few hours later Chen and Vailen boarded the Xia Ti and were on their way.

****************************************************************************************************

No more then a few days off the coast and Philip smiled. Ahead of him was about a thousand Daemons. They were hovering over the water just waiting for them. Without a word Philip turned to a Reaver and nodded. It singled the armada and from within the ships came out strange tubes. Within these tubes are furs that had been changed into living power cores. These Specters had no memories of being mages or Daemons. Their only thought now was to power the machines.

Once the Daemons were in range the Specters charged themselves up and fired beams of energy out of the tubes. The Daemons were caught completely off guard. They flew forward as quickly as possible to get under the strange weapons. Yet, once they got to the ships they soon realized that the Reavers would not be so easy to destroy.

The battle raged all over the armada. For every Reaver killed another would quickly take its place. The Daemons were able to skink three of the ships. Yet for all their effort they were unsuccessful in stopping the armada. Realizing that they had lost the Daemon commander ordered several Daemons to fall back and warn the mainland. Taking fifty of the surviving Daemons they attacked Philips ship. Philip just smirk as the stepped forward to meet them...

Philip looked out over the horizon. Soon his forces would reach the mainland and begin the Final Directive. It turned around and walked back towards the rear of the ship. Philip stepped over the bodies of the Daemons it had killed. No matter how many spells they threw, none had any effect on Philip. The only damage to Philip was its cloths. It ordered some Reavers to clean off the deck. Stepping into the hold Philip looked at the Daemon commander and the four surviving Daemons. The hold was soon closed and moments later the screams of anguish could be heard throughout the armada.

"So when do we leave?" Casidian asked curiously.

"Soon."

"How soon?"

"Today soon."

"Today? Really?"

"We need to intercept as soon as possible. Once word gets out we lost what we did...all hell.

"Well..who are we after exactly? Do we know details?"

"Minor ones. Wolf....color may be dark possibly...that's about it, witnesses are very shaky."

"Not a lot to work on. Witness?"

"Local man saw him clamber over the southeast wall...and I have a feeling we'll know him when we see him" the man said.

"Why is that?"

"...just a feeling. Go, get ready, I'll meet you at the front gate at sundown."

The man put his head back down on the bar. Casidian stared for a few seconds before slowly getting up from the seat. The man spoke again, "Oh, Casidian, this is obviously low profile; no armor, nothing Pennyork." Casidian nodded, and turned to leave. He stopped and said, "I never caught your name." "You can call me Brinn." He said. Casidian turned again and exited through the front door, turning back towards the house. A few people were on the streets, braving the chilly morning, but otherwise the streets were still dead.

Reaching the door, Casidian opened it slowly. Everyone had yet to awake, so he quietly shut the door behind him. He made his way back to his quarters. Undressing, he fell with a thump back onto his bed, and returned to sleep.

Meanwhile, a dark, hooded figure sat quietly in the back of a horse-pulled wagon. He bounced around, sitting atop a bale of hay, until the sight of a distant town came into view off the side of the wagon. The figure jumped of the back, and started to make his way across the countryside towards the city.

(How to pronounce Chinese names http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~zhuxj/readpinyin.html )

Awaking with a gasp of air, Liu Lu looked about her. Seeing herself still in the huge facility she looked around. She honestly had not much of an idea of where she was, but she assumed that she was in the weapon site. Seeing as that was the last thing she could remember, she had been leaving her capital of Shou Kai for this place. However somehow everything stops right around where she left, and thats all she can remember.

As Liu Lu tried to grasp this strange phenomenon. She began to feel the sharp pain in her chest caused by the image clenching it. She lifted her head and saw the red marking upon her.

"Damn petty annoyances..."

Shaking her head she had studied this symbol before. She knew it's purpose well, to set a limit on someone who has abused their magical prowess. Such where the ways of magic, always limits and always sacrifices that had to be made. Though why she had the symbol was more than a mystery to Liu Lu herself.

She sighed, and then thrusting herself forward she jumped out of the bed. Though what she had expected was to land on her strong legs. However instead her legs went limp like noodles and she fell naked to the floor. She quickly felt dazed and lightheaded.

What the hell.... what is with this..... and where the hell am I

Then as she lay on the floor, her troops came marching and and quickly helped her back into her bed. With a very displeased look on her face she quickly and sharply demanded.

"Tell me what the hell is going on."

Then a man by the name of Gu Xong, a Bengel tiger and she knew him well. A bit more than she had hoped many a time. Of course, who said she was complaining. Head of the High Bao Cho guard the elite unit that protected Liu Lu from danger. Now Gu Xong was one of her strongest vassals well mannered, and incredibly polite. A kind man by most standards, though he could be as fierce as any raging fire.

Now as Liu Lu only calmed down a little as he walked in. The one thing about him was that he had a tendency to be very shy. So as he walked in, he grew more fidgety despite his bold and outward appearance. Liu Lu knew how much of a softie he was. Then with a big grin as he walked up beside her bed, she pulled him down by the hand and had him sit down. Of course what she thought was a pull was a mere tug to him. So he sat down. Then in a joking tone of voice Liu Lu smiled.

"It's about time you got here."

Taking her hand and kissing it he smiled.

"Sorry, I was helping the men with a few repairs. What is thy bidding my Queen.

Liu Lu nodded.

"Two things.. one how the did I get here.. Number two, what the heck happened."

Then smiling he looked at her.

"Well you left your capital to come to the weapon site. Now you had with you the Xing power core, and upon arrival you demanded that one of the many scientists tell you about the progress of this machine. You requested to see the core room.. or firing room as we have now come to call it. You then proceeded to fire the weapon in a very powerful manner that drained you of your magical strength. Giving you this symbol.. we brought you up here to get better.... you've been out for the past five days."

Liu Lu then sat in her bed trying to get through it all, it was awfully strange. Then she shrugged

"and how long must I be in bedrest."

Gu Xong looked down.

"For the remainder of this week. Then you will probably need help around after that I am afraid."

Liu Lu hated to hear that, being a naturally independent woman, she didn't like to have a lot of help. Though she understood, unless she wanted to stay in this bed for the remainder of the time. Then laying back on the pillows, she told everyone to leave and let her rest. While she looked out of the windows at one of the huge guns. Which she saw moving, then in her loneliness. She felt a surge of power and confidence come across her, with a big smile. She thought to herself.

.... I have the power.... all I need to do now... is use it.

Masabur Chenera

A few days had passed Aline was in a different dress this day, one that accented her figure but was breezy as to keep her from feeling confined. She and the king were in a carriage headed back to his castle they were discussing the kingdom and the king was trying to convince Aline to talk about her childhood. The king looked out the window of the carriage and sighed. Asking about Aline's childhood was proving fruitless, so the king decided to change the subject to something more agreeable.

"I was thinking of showing you a theater I am having restored,"

the cheetah said.

"I would be honored if you would perform there when it is completed."

Aline smiled at the kind and tilted her head.

“Perform what my lord ...magic tricks ...singing...story telling... I am not the entertaining type ... I prefer to be in the audience rather than on stage”

She looked out seeing a group of guards gathered before the entrance to the castle her interest perked.

"Whatever you desire, I wouldn't ask of anything more than you are willing to do. But I am sure many would gather to see such a beauty on stage. Even a small performance, you would be a sight to behold."

Aline sighed softly she was not a show dragon, and she had heard the whispers of the maids in the castle, she was considered the kings ‘pet’ dragon. When the carriage stopped Aline stepped out quickly her eyes still riveted on the group of guards standing before the main entrance, as she drew closer she saw that they were surrounding what looked like a messenger scout.

“What is the news from his outpost?”

She asked the guard commander, who looked at her his eyes wide, she had been there for almost a week and he still hadn’t gotten used to her beauty.

“His outpost is up in the Dragon Scream Mountains....he rode his horses hard to get here so fast.”

The Commander bowed when the king walked up behind Aline. The king stepped forward.

"What news do you bring, scout?"

The scout breathed heavily on his knees he looked up and was struck dumb by the beauty before him his mouth hanging open. Aline figured he was just too exhausted to think and spoke before him.

“My lord, I think the messenger needs a short respite if he has been running strait for over a day he cannot give a detailed account in his exhaustion.”

"Very well,"

King Harden said.

"Guards, take him inside and get him watered and rested. Inform me when he is ready to give me the news he brings."

The guards helped the messenger stand and walked him into the palace, Aline watched as the court yard cleared leaving the stable boys and the dead horse the man rode in on.

“Poor creature I hope it felt useful in its last moments”

She said with sadness in her voice. The king placed his hand on Aline's shoulder comfortingly.

“I am fine my lord I will go and tend to the messenger maybe he will recover faster with my healing ability”

She bowed to the king and dismissed herself; the king bowed his head and watched Aline walk away. He couldn't help but stare longingly as her figure, wishing he could glide his fingers across her naked curves. Once alone with the guard Aline worked efficiently and used her heal ability to help the man recover faster, as he stood there drinking water and chewing on a herb meant to help one recover.

“What part of the Mountain range are you stationed at? My cave is in the northern range...”

Her hands ran over his body sending a wave of relief across his sore muscles and sooth his aches and pains. The messenger found himself staring at her body as she healed him and had not heard what she had said at first and then shook his head forcing his eyes away from her body and looked away trying to focus.

"I'm from the southern range I've come here to inform the King about a new weapon that the Queen of The Chengbao Confederation has built that was able to destroy a entire mountain peak with one shot"

He found his eyes moving back to her body; it had been a many years since he had see a woman as beautiful as her this close up, His hands slowly slid over his crotch trying to hide it from her as she healed him; her magic seeming to heal the one thing he didn't want her to notice. Aline was used to men growing aroused by her it had become quite common in the last week since she left her cave she continued to heal him having moved to his legs which she could tell were sore from clenching Horse ribs for two days

"You are telling me that an entire Peak was reduced to a foothill by some weapon?"

She sounded a bit baffled and angry all at once feeling the relaxing waves of magic going though his ever exhausted legs he let out a soft gasp at seeing her on her knees in front of him and so many thoughts went through his head at once and he swallowed and his throat felt dry

"Y...Yes...It was some type of magical cannon....it was powered by magic; and it destroyed an entire top of a mountain in a second."

Feeling his legs become completely relaxed again after two days of riding; he suddenly collapsed to the ground breathing heavily...

"I am sorry lady dragon your magic seems to have done its job far too well... I need to tell the king...please can you help me stand?"

He looks at her as he is on his knees in front of here as he looks deep into her beautiful eyes. Aline smiled and stood gracefully before effortlessly lifting him to his feet and steadying him she then led the way to the Kings Conference room for the messenger to speak to him. Her mind reeling with the idea of something powerful enough to destroy an entire mountain peak, something that could destroy her home it angered her.

Once again, a familiar set of dragon wings took flight once more, their shadow being cast upon the lowly inhabitants of the cursed city, Jormugandr. As the dark figure took the cloud barren skies, his boredum grew large and it needed to be sated. Strauss was not to be taken lightly when he was bored.

After hours of aimlessly flying through the skies, the sun slowly began to set and yet he was to find something to amuse him. So far, all he had found were a few couples who enjoyed their bodies in nature's embrace and after scaring the living daylights out of them, he moved on in search of more victims. Finally, dusk began setting in and with it, finally came what Strauss was searching for. Up ahead, past the treeline, came a small clearing with pitched up tents and half built wooden houses and stone buildings. It seemed like a town that was on it's way on being built, the workers seeming happy to work around with their fellow men and some even stopping by to idly chat. The women were no exception either as they helped mend clothes, cook and even heat water while they kept an eye on their children, whom passed the hours away by playing with themselves or anything else that they found amusing across the barren fields. The innocence of the small and flurishing town was about to be tested.

Landing a large number of yards away, Strauss covered his body with his cloak, his wings folding up neatly on his back and his weapons in their respective positions. As the sun slowly began setting down in a yellowish-rhave been depicted ashat formed on the town could have been depicted as a form of art, the workers slowly turning down their hammers and axes for a good day's work and heading down towards the square. All the Daemon fox did was walkd in direction of the town, his gleaming red eyes giving off the sight of a predator awaiting to ambuish his prey, or prey's in this case. With the coming of the dusk, also came the sounds of the night life, critters and wildlife rustling around in a large matter of noises. The sun's rays continued to bore down on the dirt road. Finally, a couple of children had taken notice of the figure's pressence as he walked towards them. The little tykes were ferrets, twins by the looks of it. As the two trailed up past one of the larger stone built buildings, they came up to a mildly aged ferret whom sported a trimmed silk dress that was kept prim and clean at all times. She carried a large vase filled with water when her two children came up.

"Mommy, Mommy! A Da-e-mon is coming to town!"
"He's not going to eat us, is he?"

To them, Daemons and Devas were nothing more than stories spun by their elders to scare them at night. Education was poor in spread parts of the continent and here was no exception. As the tugs at her dress and the seemingly distressed calls filled her ears, the ferret turned around and knelt towards her two infants.

"Now, now, you two. No Daemon is going to eat you, unless you two have been good, alright?"
"But I've been real good Mommy! I helped Daddy finish some of his chores early!"
"That's nothing! I was out in the fields today and found a hidden well under the dirt!"
"No fair, Vyers, you were using Old Ian's 'Water' stick, weren't you!?"
"Come on now, Cheripha. No need to be jealous of your brother's accomplishment."

With a sneer, the ferret twin poked his toungue out at his sister.

"Neer, neer! Looks like the Daemon's gonna eat you, Cheripha!!"
"Oh no he isn't!!"

Quickly trying to reconcile her defense, the young ferret girl, Cheripha, tugged at her mother's dress and held close.

"The Da-e-mon isn't going to eat me, is he?"
"Oh, don't listen to your brother now, Cheripha. He's just trying to scare you. Why don't you two go off to play in the tent while Mommy and Daddy finish today's work, okay?"

With a couple of frantic nods and hurried "Okay!"'s, the large ferret stood up and began going back to her work. Of course, the mentioning of a Daemon heading her way unnerved her, more so that each time she looked at the strange figure, it gave her a chilling sensation that ran down her spine in horror. Worse yet, as the figure grew ever closer, she recognized the large scythe and bow that were tucked behind the fox's back. It was Maximillian Strauss. The scare alone made her drop the large vase of clay that was filled with cold water and crashed horridly on the floor. The sound it made, alerted a nearby German Sheperd of her accident, whom jogged towards her immeadiately.

"Something wrong, Marianette?"
"Strauss.......it's Strauss......"

Almost as if traumatized, the two looked back towards the figure whom walked in the direction of the town. The path that he walked in, was linked to the center of the town. Most likely a way to attract more visitors, but in this instance, it meant danger for them and everyone else. Gods knew what would happen to the town.

In seconds, all of the encampment were alerted of the pressence of the murderous being. Any and all of the fighting men assembled in the Town square, their worn out daggers, spears and shortswords held back, while bows and crossbows were properly tucked away. By now, Strauss began walking through the center of the town, his eyes not bothering to look at the poorly erected stonework and barely held wooden contraptions. Murmurs followed across the crowd of hunters and workers alike, none of them having ever experienced such a fear like this. As the large fox neared the group, they stood in his way and made Strauss stop like any ordinary traveler would. A large figure of a Hippopotamus within formal black attire stepped foward from the group. He sported a cutlass, well maintained and gleaming. It seemed that he was the mayor of the town.

"Welcome, Mr. Strauss!"
"Oh, you know me?"
"Why, who hasn't heard of the mighty Daemon Killer?"
"Oh please, you flatter me too much."

With a small chuckle, Strauss smiled. This in turn further unnerved the others, the mayor included.

"W-well.....what brings you to our small patch of land?"
"Oh just passing through. Getting tired of flying and thought that walking would be more fitting."
"Oh, I see!"

With his last sentence, a sudden relief swam through the villagers. Maybe he wasn't there to slaughter them afterall?

"Well, before we leave you on your way. May we ask you what you think so far of our humble abode?"
"Hmm...............it could use some red."
"Red? What do you mean?"
"As in, the color red. Like....blood red."

And in that instant, horror struck. In the split second it took the crowd to blink, the head of the large and plump Hippo slowly rolled down from it's place and stared back with open eyes at the group of men. Gasps of worry and steps of fear took their place as some attempted to pull back, but were entranced by the deathly form that stood before them. Not a single one saw the scythe being pulled out, or the cloak being pushed away or not even when the mayor was attacked. And yet still, he had done it all with near impossible odds. Daggers were drawn, spears were poised, arrows were primed. Those who weren't on the verge of death by being scared alone attempted to make a stand right there.

"Jeez, everyone's a critic.......oh well!!"

And finally, the manslaughter began. Arms flew in towards the sky, the ground gorged in copious amounts of blood, organs and flesh alike pooling up with untold amounts of corpses as naked steel alone tore through them like a hot knife through butter. Screams of agony and pain faded out with the sun, the last of the workers falling down without ever pulling out his own weapon. His body stood amongst the fallen men, almost like a cursed statue. It wasn't long before at a distance, the women who were watching the whole ordeal in horror, screamed in terror and attempted to run for their lives. Their screams though, were their undoing.

As untold numbers of splatters and more shrieks of terror buffetted the tent all around, the twins Cheripha and Vyers with their mother were huddled up in a corner. The sounds of what used to be their friends, their close relatives and anyone else they've ever known in their death throes placed the poor three on the verge of collapsing as neither women nor child was spared from Strauss's horrid scythe and suddenly, it stopped. Not a sound followed as a small gale buffetted the flaps of the blood spattered tent and on the outside, the sickeningly sweet stench of blood permeated every corner. Even the bodies of those once held dear could be seen, arms bent in ways they shouldn't, body parts ripped out in disgusting forms as their innards left horrid marks, even the bodies of the infants were neatly cut up in pieces. Only a creature without a soul could do such a dark and foul deed. The silence was unnerving, as the soft and quiet sobs of the twins were comforted in the the sullied fabric of their mothers dress.

"Is....is.....-sniffle-.....is the Da-e-mon g-gone Mommy?"
"Waah!! Where's Daddy!? Where's Johnny!? I'm scared Mommy, I'm scared!!!"
"Shhh, shhh, shhh......it's going to be alright you two. It's quiet for now."

Her voice was filled with fear nonetheless as she held her children close. Finally mustering up the bravey to investigate, she placed down her children on the small mat below and stood up, making her towards the flap of the tent to look outside. What she saw didn't make it any better, for the innards of many of her female friends lay outside in gorish splatters of blood. The sickening sight made her yelp in fear and hide back again as she gasped for air, the sight alone making her stomach turn. So much and so quickly. She could not fathom the pain it bore, when another gale suddenly blasted the flap open once more and the sight of death itself on the door did not help in the least. Strauss stood there, a scythe in hand and covered in blood with a smile as he looked at the mother and her younglings.

"N-No! Why are you d-doing this!?"
"Because I am bored and because this is fun for me."

The poor ferret could not imagine what went through the psychopath's mind, his boots slowly walking foward as his scythe ripped noisily at the threads of the tent. Her children cried and bawled in horror as the ferret woman stood back, shielding their frail bodies with her own.

"Don't harm them, you monster!"
"Oh? And what do I get in return if I don't?"

Nothing could cross her mind at the time. Fear and terror envelopped her to the extent that she shaked uncontrollably and began to cry. As her knees gave way and she knelt down, her face looked up with the hope of saving herself and her children.

"I......I........I don't have anything I can give you! Please, don't harm my children!"
"Oh well, guess I can get a consolation prize. Your life."

As if his prior actions weren't enough, a large hnd quickly went towards the young mother's neck and hoisted her up in the air. As she gasped for air and kicked uncontrollably, she could feel her vision blurring, her tears drying up, the pain in her throat slowly dying down. Strauss only laughed, the children being scarred for life at the sight of everything that they've known and loved being taken away from them in such a form and as the body of the mother finally stopped squirming, a sickening crunch came from her neck. Suffocating her wasn't enough for the fox, so he had to crush her neck as well. Her frame grew limp, the life left her body and her form was left to fall on the ground floor. The very last thing that the children managed to see of their mother was the saddened expression she had, even in death. His work done, Strauss turned around to leave the twins to their fate, their own innocence taken before their time. Suddenly, an anger like none other took a hold of the young ferret boy. His tears had dried up, his chest throbbed, his head ached and without even knowing, his hand held a knife. No thought crossed his mind whatsoever, his sister watching him with a saddened expression.

"Vyers no!"
"Die you bastard!!"

With a battlecry unbefitting a child his age, he rushed foward. Strauss stopped, not moving an inch as the dagger dug deep into his suit and even unto his fur. Blood trickled down his back, something that hadn't happened in a long time and as he turned around, the young boy pulled back in fear and watched the figure, regretting what he had just done.

"Congratulations. You are the first one to have wounded me in this battle and that knife is pretty deep in too."

Vyers didn't respond, he was too scared and too sad to move. If death was to be delivered to him, so be it. Instead, it never came. The same knife that had been thrust into the back of the infamous Daemon, Maximillian Strauss was suddenly jabbed into the ground before the child, blood still trickling down by droplets by it's keep edge.

"Your prize, is that you get to live. Cherish it."

And with those words spoke, a flutter of his cape and a beating of his black wings, Maximillian Strauss dissapeared. Cheripha only cried as she had unwillingly stood up and walked over towards her brother. So many things have happened, so much to take in. The two panted and still cried in pain, the body of their now deceased mother laying by their side and a bloodied knife that had been tainted with the blood of a cursed spawn. No words could be said, the two slowly standing up and walking away from the tent, limping away. They couldn't even bother to look at the bodies of their own friends, family, neighbors, none of that mattered. The tears had dried up, their expression showing pain like no child should suffer and as they walked out into the now moonlit night, the stench of decay fell over the town like a hungry pack of beasts. At one point, one of the tents had even caught fire, for it seemed a gas light lamp had been knocked over. That didn't matter now anyways, as the twins slowly strode foward. One carrying the other on her shoulder and the other carrying a blood stained knife and the two no older than 7. There could be no more painful sight.

He was not happy with the situation. Resolute in his concern Malinkov crossed his arms on his chest and asked, "Are you certain? You'll be defenseless while you perform the ritual."

The Necromagus continued to sketch the geometric shapes with the alabaster chalk. She paused in her work and sighed. She stepped over to the nearby desk, and dabbed her fingertips into a bowl of green lotus gel. Anxiously Caroline then wiped her fingertips under her nose. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Opening them she replied to the question, "One understands the risk, Malinkov. However, the room has a stout bar One will lock, and the other tenants are to timid to approach the room, let alone One."

"I still do not like it."

"We need to know what she can do… so for now One must have… more difficult reagents to work with."

"Are you certain you must obtain them from a half-breed?"

"Malinkov, One does not like repeating oneself," admonished Caroline.

"I apologize. I will return with the reagent you require."

"Be careful, Malinkov. Oh, my dress should be ready, pick that up while you're out as well."

"I will."

After leaving the room, Malinkov waited outside the door until he heard the brass bar slide into place. He waited a few moments. At last he heard the tell-tale squeak the chair made when it was being pulled under the desk. He did not like leaving the necromagus alone. She was as fragile as the porcelain mask she wore. Still, her commands compelled him to obey. The revenant took a moment to adjust his own porcelain mask. Satisfied on its placement, he tugged his leather gloves over his fingers. Comfortable that she was not going to unlock the door, or leave the room, Malinkov stepped away from the door. He walked down the stairs to the common room of the inn. Seeing the innkeeper's wife sweeping behind the bar, he walked over to her and instructed, "Madam Wellwater is not to be disturbed. Should I find out otherwise, there will be a problem."

Pausing from her sweeping, the innkeeper's wife replied, "None to worry, sir. I'll make sure no one disturbs Goody Wellwater." Nodding to herself, the old woman went back to sweeping behind the bar.

Jena was packed with people. Under a party-cloudy sky, the citizens and visitors of Jena shuffled about conducting their daily business. Looking around, Malinkov noticed that the Blackpowder Guild was assembling a large stand in Market Square. In two days would be the festival, and the town council had hired the Blackpowder to perform one of their glow-rocket displays. The smells of cut wood, sulfur, pine, and pitch from the Blackpowder Guild almost overpowered the sour body odor of all the people of Jena. The revenant knew the devices the Blackpowder used were called something else but could not remember what. One of the workers noticed him looking at them, and shouted something. Malinkov didn't bother to listen. Shaking his head, he refocused on the task at hand.

Malinkov made his way through the throngs of people with ease. He did not stop to hear what wares were being sold, or to listen to the music of performers at street corners. His Mistress warned that delay may give their quarry time to move. He moved with unnatural speed through the cobbled avenues. Within minutes he arrived at the alley. Slime and sewage caked the worn down stones. Beggars, vagabonds, and undesireables skulked and cowered away from Malinkov as they slank back into the darkness. Sewer fog seeped from the storm drains. Only a winged tiger seemed out of place in the slums. Malinkov smirked from behind his mask.

Following Caroline's instruction, Malinkov closed the gap between him and the winged tiger. When he was two steps away, the tiger finally turned around to face him. "Interesting. I am a hunter, and yet you are able to get this close to me before I sensed you. How is it you have no scent?"

Malinkov only shrugged, "I do not know. Maybe you're not that good of a hunter?" He extended his hand and said, "My name is Malinkov."

The tiger eyeballed Malinkov suspiciously. Extending his paw, the tiger grabbed Malinkov's hand and squeezed it tightly. Sneering, the tiger growled, "And you wear a mask to conceal your identity. I asked you a question. Answer it, or I'll destroy you where you stand."

Pulling his hand free Malinkov replied, "Apparently half-breeds do not have to learn common courtesy either. Must be nice. You are not worth my time."

Something about the armored soldier caught the tiger off balance. There was something… wrong about the whole thing. Something unsettling. Something out-of-focus about the soldier. The tiger could tell he wasn't a Deva or a Deamon; however, he couldn't tell what he was either. "You aren't the first one to say something like that to me."

Walking away, Malinkov taunted the winged tiger, "I'm sure I'm sorry enough. I have what I came for. Till we meet again, half-breed."

***** ***** ***** *****

Malinkov knocked on the door, and waited. The door opened, and Caroline waved the revenant into the room. Picking up her porcelain mask she asked, "Did you get what One asked for, Malinkov?"

"Yes. He did not even notice that I pinched some of the fur off his palm. Having a fourth finger comes in handy."

"And the dress?"

"I must regrettably say no. The seamstress said that when she went to wash your gown, the dye ran horribly, discoloring it. She said she will have the issue fixed by tomorrow."

"You know, Malinkov, One has worn this dress for four days now. Tell the seamstress One will have the dress, today. Better yet, let's both go tell the seamstress. One could use a bit of a walk. Thinking of that, One believes we should find a new inn to rest at for a day or so…" Caroline chuckled a bit. Putting on her own porcelain mask, she continued, "One requires a bit more space to conduct this ritual. Perhaps we should move into Prince's Quarter where the rooms are better furnished, and considerably more spacious."

Bowing, the revenant replied, "Of course, Mistress."

Vailen and Tazor were asleep in the hold, it had been a long trip for both of them. Chen checked on them one more time before he headed up top to talk to the captain.

Captain Chang, a Red Panda, looked at Chen and nodded.

“We have a good wind and should reach our destination in a few days. We’re lucky that you came aboard Lord Tzu. Your wind spell has cut our travel...”

“Please Captain Chang, enough with the pleasantries. I need to conduct something in private and was wondering if I could use your cabin?”

Chang nodded. A few minutes later Chen was reporting to Lord Nu Xiong.

“Yes my lord the prince is on board and we’ll soon arrive in a couple of days thanks to my wind and quick travel spell. Though it has drained me a bit it will be well worth it. How is her highness?”

“The Empress is fine, the weapon has taken a lot out of her but she’ll be alright. I’ll send word to her that you’ll be here soon. Make certain that the prince makes to capital.”

“Yes, my Lord!”

With his report done Chen left the captains quarters and headed to the hold. He checked on Vailen and smiled.

‘You will be a great prize to her highness. Whether you’ll aid us willingly or not, your father will have no choice but to bow to the might of the Confederation.’

Yawning Chen turned in for the night.

Philip chose his landing spot well. In a matter of hours his entire force had landed on the coast. Several small villages had already been overrun and the survivors turned into Reavers. Multiple attempts had been made by Daemons to stop the invasion, all had failed.

Philip was about ready to plan its next attack when two of his Reavers brought forth a young male Vole. With glowing eyes and angelic wings Philip knew this was a Devas. They young Devas scout looked up into Philips eyes, fear gripping him...

...the former Devas, eye black as tar, concentrated and sent another energy blast out the tube. His former life completely erased. All he knew was power the weapon to continue Philips mission.

From a distance Philip watched as the fortress was slowly destroyed. It sent out Reavers to other areas up and down the coast. Philip’s army was growing quickly. It would complete its objective no matter the cost.

Back in the capital of Lunar, Leneara. Emperor Orden was reading the reports from his spies in Aordaf. He looked at his Generals in complete shock.

“Is this for real?”

An older Wolf sighed and nodded.

“I’m afraid so Sir. Whatever these things are the Daemons can not stop them. The creatures are spreading up and down the Aordaf Eastern Coast rapidly. If nothing is done and soon I believe half the coastline will fall in about two weeks, if not sooner. The Daemon lords are calling in all its forces to try and stem the tide but it dosen’t look good.”

Orden just shook his head and looked at his other commanders.

“Any word on what’s going on in Pennyork?”

A Snow Leopard stepped forward and shook her head.

“Nothing yet Sir! Our ambassador has been unsuccessful in trying to see Pennyorks Emperor. We have no idea what’s going on.”

Orden nodded and stood up. He looked at the map of his Empire and shook his head.

“Send word to all our posts. I want every fort manned. Call up the militia and prepare our Navy and Air Corps. Send word to Pennyork and relay to them the danger that is coming from the east. Whatever these things are they’re capable to dealing viciously against Daemons and that should worry everyone. Send word to Dells as well and all our allies. I want everyone to be on their guard. No doubt word will spread quickly to the Rovers. My the Goddess watch over all of us.”

Casidian had spent the day shut away in his room, denying multiple offers for food and drink, until the sun started to show signs of dropping. He got up slowly, searching for his most innocent looking cloak. The one he found was old, dull, and gray; perfect. He left the room and headed for the door. His sister approached and Casidian simply gave her a kiss, said he loved her, and walked out the door with a wave to the rest of the family sitting at the table.

The streets were still very busy as people got the last of their business done before nightfall. Casidian slid silently through the crowd on his way to the main gate. The sky had gone dark as Casidian turned onto the main road towards the gate. The crowd thinned as he got closer, and it was not long before no one was around. The gate pulled into view. It was a massive structure, covered by the extremely artistic carvings done of the gods who watched over Pennyork and all it's inhabitants.

Casidian reached the gate. He was completely alone. He searched around, but there was no sign of Brinn whatsoever. He waited and was about to turn home when out of the shadows behind him came a voice.

"You're late."

Casidian turned around in surprise to see Brinn, covered in a brown cloak, walking out of the shadows of one of the guard towers.

"I'm late? I think YOU'RE late."

"On the contrary, I've been here the whole time."

"And you didn't say anything..?"

"I wanted to know if you could see me. I guess you couldn't."

Casidian walk over to the shadow and kicked around it; there was no place to hide.

"Maybe someday" Brinn said.

Casidian turned and shook his head in mild disbelief.

"And to be very honest with you my dead 'partner in crime', I'm actually quite scared right now."

"What? Why? Don't be, we'll catch this guy in no time" Casidian tried to reassure.

"No, it isn't that. I have a very strange feeling, like something big is going to happen while we're gone."

They shared a moment of silent thought.

"So let's not go" Casidian said.

"We have to, we're under orders...Come on, we're wasting time."

With that, Brinn lead the way through the main gate and into the darkness.

"The sea at the northeastern coast of Aordaf is historically called =the Crimson Tide=. Do you remember why, Godis?", asked HexPoint as they flew over the waters.

"Because the deva and the daemon fought their first war over it. So many lives were lost that the tides washed the shores red... for a long time."

"Exactly, Godis. That was then. There are far more of us in the world now, you know. Far more. But it is the land that will turn black in this time of our lives. "

"This Twilight of an Age... aye, you said that before. I'm sorry about your scripture book. The chaplain noticed I didn't burn it right away and he took it. I'm really sorry about that. But thank you for leaving with me. I really needed to get away from all that... madness." She smiled warmly.

HexPoint shook away his rage just to try and tell the deva kestrel something pleasant when a familiar bolt of light singed the fur above his thick blue eyebrows. He dove, holding Snappy tightly while the carnivorous plant yelped at the sudden aerial maneuver. HexPoint recovered and drew his coral sword, beating his wings to rescue Godis from the chaplain's surprise attack. He was enjoying the thought of how apt it was for a chaplain to use the subterfuge of an illusion when Godis shrieked in pain. Her deva feathers trailed behind her as she plummeted down towards the Crimson Tide. He waited two heartbeats for an ambush from other deva. He only heard the chaplain's inane blathering.

The deva bighorn bellowed a feral noise that sounded like the word 'repent', but he was unsure, being more concerned with the powerful glow between the chaplain's hands. Snappy let out a frightful scream. HexPoint then focused his arcane energies through his thrusting coral sword, the deva and the daemon flying towards each other at a deadly speed...

His face and wings were aflame, the coral sword had pierced through the chaplain's magic and caused him to cast the sun ray spell on himself. It was a terrible illusion to cast, but HexPoint learned this one very well from his daemon 'mother'. He let his sword slice through the chaplain's own weight and the gravity of the fall, smiling. He smiled in wicked glee at his achievement of the fire-kill he needed for his master spell. It would be another full moon before it was complete, but this was damn... damn...

Removing his thristy sword from the falling deva, he cursed, "Damn it..! Godis!"

HexPoint spread his wings to glide in a wide circle, searching the water's surface for the lady's body. His thoughts turned to his old furiends, Katmir, Connie, and Tuscan, and how he missed their company... No! Their resourcefulness, their usefulness... Katmir could see, Connie could hear, Tuscan could smell, and he could... he can't...

"trrrSNAPPpurrr!!" cried his war pet, lashing out his thorny tail at Godis' flailing extremities in the sea. Sheathing his sword, HexPoint splashes down next to his deva liberator. She was panicked, but alive.

"...My arm!! Gods, the pain! Bastard took my arm..!"

"The salt is burning your wound! Keep it aloft! Above the water, damn you!"

"SNAP! SNAPppurrr!"

*

Later, the sun had already risen, and feral birds hovered in small flocks above them in the sea. HexPoint's back and soulders were incredibly sore. He had been using his wings to backstroke while he held onto Godis' unconscious body. Snappy simply floated, hanging onto his master's belt, hurting for freshwater. HexPoint stared at the tourniquet he made for Godis using Snappy's sling. He felt frustrated and... mostly... sad. Normally it was thieves who lost their hands in Aordaf, not.. not... His thoughts were broken by the feel of sand beneath him in the water. They had reached the shoreline of Lordain!

"Oh, thank the Gods! Urgh!" He wanted to complain about his pain, but Godis lost her hand from helping him. It was not easy for him. Snappy skittered away onto the beach and took off to find refreshment they all needed.

"Godis. Godis Osom. Wake up. We're here, ashore, finally. Hey... Goddess Awesome, wake up now. We survived the Crimson Tide! Godis? Godis..?"

She muttered something to him. She felt weaker than in the water. "What? Come on, I'll help you up. Let's -"

"Hhhex... HexPoint, you'd better kiss me..."

"Wh-What?"

"You'd... You better kiss me... 'cos you're gonna miss me..."

"What? No! No. No no no..." He seethed, looking around in futility for something to heal her with. He did not realize that her bleeding had not stopped. HexPoint somehow found strength to hold her tight, and pressed his head to hers, feeling... so much pain.

"No! No, gods, please not..." He couldn't believe himself, attempting an appeal to the gods he turned his back on. An appeal from the mind of a murderer to keep a stranger alive! He looked at her fading eyes and kissed the kestrel's face a lot. This was happening much too fast for him.

"Hex..."

"Godis! Please..."

"If th' world's endin'..."

"Godis, please don't -"

"... guess I'll see yuh... see you..."

"I see you. I see you now, Godis..."

"... in heaven..."

"Godis, please don't leave me." He kissed her.

"Godis Osom, please stay with me." He kissed her.

"Godis..." HexPoint thought he saw her above him, shining like the sun at mid day. Then the light reflecting off of the water made him blink. Somewhere in the distance, Snappy called out.

HexPoint cried.

Liu Lu had since her bed rest had been able to stand once more, she had been wandering around with the assistance of her guards. seeing the cursed symbol upon her chest whenever she looked down her shirt. It was disgusting to look at, let alone the very symbol itself burned her eyes, figuratively of course. Now she had been currently wondering what she would do next, of course she had more than a few pleasing nights with Gu Xong, to pass the time. However she felt, more.... bold, she began to dress more seductively and alluringly. She noticed much to her delight, the men seemed more..... docile. This of course pleased her, though she was growing more and more bold everyday. She would think every once in a while, the glories of being a empress, master of the East. Of course, she grew paranoid during her time when she was secluded, thus she ordered more and more men fortify the area around the weapon site. Which she later named the 8 eyes of Liu, mainly because her gaze was unseeable when she felt unthreatened, but powerful when she saw you as a threat. She still waited to her a letter, or some report about her search party for Prince Vailen, who.. if they had caught him, would make a fine guest. Though most of the time Liu Lu spent her time either with Gu Xong, or adoring her new weapon.

Masabur Chenera

Aline stood there in the corner her back to the two men as they spoke on the matter, her tail twitching erratically as she listened to the king take the news with less wrath then she did. King Harden listened as the messenger gave him the news. After a few moments, the cheetah moved to stand by a table with a large map sprawled across it. After inspecting a couple of details on the map, he beckoned one of his guards over.

"I want you to dispatch a scout party. They are to seek out this weapon and gather any information on it they can,"

The guard nodded and left the room. As King Harden dismissed the messenger, he sat in his chair, his demeanor calm and composed. Aline spun around angrily and looked at the king.

“That’s all your going to do is send a scout party?! ….shouldn’t you be assembling an army of Magi to counter this threat…are you that confident in your abilities…are you that smug!?”

She was fuming in anger and rage unable to control herself. The king actually cringed slightly for a brief moment at Aline's sudden burst of anger. Taking a deep breath, he stood and approached her.

"I understand you are angry. But I cannot just gather an army and waltz into another territory without first knowing what is there. This weapon poses significant threat and before I can take any appropriate action I must first gather as much information about it as I can,"

The cheetah said calmly. Aline glared and pulled away from the king before storming out of his study heading towards the Gardens, the kings calm rationality enraged her further as she stomped her way into the center of the gardens. Standing there she quickly transformed into her natural form in her hurry she had forgotten to remove her dress leaving it in shreds on the ground at her feet before taking off into the air she flew quickly towards the west.

looking at the scroll draco picked it up and nearly droped it as he looked at the unbroken seal witch showed the sign of the queen of the devas "wait is this for me?" draco asked his master in a confused voice.

the blue fox smiled and just nodded as he watched the king cheetah carefuul put it in his pocket from what i know she wish's to meet the cursed sword weilder personally now on to bussines im sorry to say but i have no information ion the wearabouts of the othere cursed weapon nore your br......

Heavy shutters were closed tightly. A stout bar lay securing the door. The flue of the chimney was closed. Streamers of smoke drifted up from the dozens of candles around the room, collecting in a cloud against the murals on the ceiling. A still air filled the large room. The princely suite was cramped. To perform the ritual required a lot of space. Expensive furniture and silk rugs from far off lands had all been pushed to the walls to allow for room to draw the confusing, octagonal, design on the floor. In the center of the design was Caroline. The necromagus was painting an oily perfume in a second pattern, inside the octagon. Outside the octagon, Malinkov waited restlessly.

Clenching his hands into fists, Malinkov spoke, "I do not like this idea. This ritual leaves you completely defenseless, and we are not even fully certain that it will work. Even you had trouble reading the Lexicon's instructions for performing this ritual."

"One does not care for spirit-walking either, Malinkov. However, this seems to be the easiest way to bear witness to our target. We can cover the vast distance in hours instead of months. Do you understand your task in this ritual?"

Through his teeth Malinkov replied, "Yes. Once you are in the trance, I will turn over the hour-glass. As it counts down, I am to protect you. Once the hour-glass empties, I am to revive you with the rose-water."

"Will you be able to protect One until One returns?"

"Yes."

Finishing with painting the viscous perfume, Caroline arranged herself in the middle of the dual pattern. She closed her eyes, and began to mumble the incantation. She chanted in a barely audible whisper. Malinkov could not discern what was being said, but he could tell the mantra was being repeated every few minutes. The mantra began to slow, and finally stopped. Malinkov could not see anything different about Caroline, but he knew the spell was in effect. He flipped over the hour-glass, and patiently waited.

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

She felt slow… like she was trying to casually swim through clear molasses. Caroline had no idea what to expect from the spell, and the sensation was alien to her. Everything looked out of focus, and further obscured by a shimmering haze. She turned her entire body to look around. The image slowly twisted as she did, catching up to her once she stopped moving. The sensation was disorienting, and it took her several minutes to get used to the effect.

As far as she could tell, she had left Jena. The new city was designed in a different manner than the ones she had been used too. Buildings, streets, signs, all seemed similar, yet foreign. Unknown types of stone, clay, marble, and wood were used in the construction of the city. Colors and writing were exotic and mysterious. It was as the rabbit had described. A city of the Far East. But something about the situation was wrong as well. It looked like a city; however, Caroline could not sense anyone being around. She could hear no sounds of the city. There were no stray animals running in alleys. No children playing on the streets. It was quiet. Creepily quiet. She felt like she was looking at the city through a dream of her own making. She decided it must be a side-effect from the spell itself, and paid it no heed.

The rabbit had described the main avenue to the kings castle in great detail. Details she had memorized, and then sketched out in the Lexicon. It is there where she had decided to target her spirit-walk spell. As far as she could tell, the activity of the spell was successful. Caroline moved down the avenue in the direction of the castle. She could not feel anything as she moved. It was difficult to even determine if her silk slippers were even being picked up, and put back down. She had no sensation of touch at all. The rabbit had described the season as an early spring, and the city looked like it was preparing for the new season, yet the necromagus could not feel any temperature or moisture from the air. All she could feel was an odd sensation of being encased, as if in a very smooth sheath of glass. She could not tell how long it took to get used to the lack of sensation, and how to walk. In this manner, Caroline made her way down the avenue, towards the castle.

It was then when she saw the wildkin. It was magnificent. Perfect. It had to be the wildkin. It had created its own image in her spirit-walk. The Lexicon talked of dragons, yet here was the essence of a real one. It was far away, barely visible through the haze that covered the city. She smiled. A full smile that went from ear to ear. The dragon existed. Caroline, began stepping towards the wildkin, reaching out with her hand. She could not tell if it had seen her or not, but in her excitement she didn't care. She wanted to touch the dragon. Then everything when dead.

***** ***** ***** *****

As soon as the last grains of sand fell into the bottom bell of the hour-glass, Malinkov used the rose-water on Caroline. The act instantly broke the spell. Caroline made a jerking spasm, and then went still. Groggily she blinked her eyes a number of times. At long last, the necromagus spoke, "Is One back in Jena?"

"Yes, mistress."

Caroline reached up her paw and asked, "Pleased help One up, Malinkov, and put One on the bed… One is… drained."

Malinkov lifted the small wolverine-girl cradling her in his arms. As he walked over to where the bed had been pushed too the revenant asked, "Did you see the wildkin?"

Whispering Caroline replied, "Yes."

While still holding the wolverine, Malinkov turned the duvet back from the matress, and laid his mistress down. Pulling the duvet up to cover her he inquired, "What did she look like?"

"Perfection, Malinkov. Something not designed by nature or fur-kind, but… drafted by the Divine. She looked like perfection."

Through the Veil of Existence

At the edge of the Hennel forest next to the Sokeri River there was a small patch of grass; no more assuming then any other. With the sound of the River flowing and the wind blowing and birds from the forest signing like they have always done. It was as peaceful as almost anyone could ask for. But in the middle of the calm there was a light humming almost like a choir signing over a hill side. It slowly grew louder but never seemed to disturb the scene; it seemed to actually intensify it. Making the birds sing more sweetly and the river to smell cleaner and the grass to feel softer. But all this did not seem to matter as there was not anyone around to notice and that is why this place was chosen.

A sudden stirring in the breeze made the birds stop singing for a second and there right above that small unassuming patch of grass began to forum what looked at first glance to be like ripples in the air almost like a heat haze on a hot summer day. It seems to intensify growing more focused becoming a clearly defined shape but at the same time having no true shape at all. The air rippled more like water in a storm and; the ground beneath it beginning to move and churn almost like it was boiling. It moves up around the ripple in the air and begins to fill in the area of the distortion in the air like water filling up a glass.

It began to take a more and more solid forum as it became the shape of a skeleton; clearly being the skeleton of a Bird with large open eye sockets and large beak. As the skeleton formed a small bird flew and landed on the outstretched hand of the figure and it looked down at it calmly as the bird stood on its finger. And as this was happening the muscle and skin and then pure black feathers of the Raven where forming. And then finally a Black robe just as black as its feathers formed around it. The Hooded Black figure looked at the bird still on its finger having not been scared off by the transformation of it into a solid figure. The figure put his arm out and the bird flew away and he watched it go, then reaching into the now open earth of the area he had formed from he pulled a long silver sword with black runes running up both sides of the blade. He put the scabbard on his waist and began to walk in the direction of the capital Masabar singing a soft tone under his breath.

As he walked away the bare dirt that he had formed from began to quickly grow over with think green grass again. And the area had returned to normal like the strange black figure had never been there. He walked slowly but with purpose with every step he took. A group of deer were drinking from the rivers edge as he walked by; they all took notice of him but did not seem startled like they would for a normal Fur. He came upon a small cottage a few miles later and stopped to look at it for a few seconds seeing a man chopping wood as a few small children played near the water. The man stopped to see the black figure and held his axe in case this unknown figure meant him harm.

But with a smile and a slight nod he continued on his way; this caused the man to watch him not worried he would do anything but wondering who he was; he could not seem to think of the proper thought to describe what he had felt when looking at him. The only thing he could describe it to be like is looking into two mirrors facing each other seeing all the many reflections seeming to go on forever. He had this strange feeling pass over him as the figure left his line of sight. He set down the Axe and walked over to his children playing near the water and sat with them seeming to have simply felt like enjoying the rest of the day and having this deep feeling of calm.

The Black robed figure smiled to himself as he felt the man’s reaction to him and he continued on his way fallowing the river for almost the entire travel to the city. It would be a few days travel at this pace but he didn’t mind he was amazingly patient and a few days or even a few hundred years did not mean much to him; when it came to the big scale all the little things Fur’s did made no difference what so ever…but to them they were the most important thing in creation.

One of the most important ideas he had had was that everything was a matter of perspective…Perspective is what turns a normal everyday event into a world ending catastrophe. But for him it was all of it that made him happy; how everything seemed to move together with out needed to be told how and trying to predict the movement of this leaf compared to this drop of water and so on. As he walked on everything around him seemed to become almost eerily calm as he attuned himself on the flow and movement of this world and feeling himself become attuned to it as he did.

He walked with purpose having much to do and as much time as he needed to do it in; but why wait for things to happen before you try and help. He didn’t sleep, didn’t eat as he walked the 3 day trip to the City and when arriving at the front gates he was stopped for a second before the guard, pausing for a moment as he looked at him calmly and then he was waved through and he began to make his way through the city. Every fur turned to him for second as he walked by but after he was gone they had no memory of seeing him pass by even though they had stared at him for roughly 4-5 seconds as he walked by.

He stopped in the middle of the street and looked around then heading off down a different road again. He turned down a ally way seeing a mugger holding a knife to another fur’s throat and with a look both of them froze and he took the knife out of the muggers hand as he passed by and then suddenly the two where moving again and the fur being mugged was shocked to see the knife was gone and so was the mugger who looked around for it quickly but not seeing the figure of the man as he turned a corner. The one being mugged punched the mugger right in the face and ran; the mugger just sitting there on the ground wondering what in the hell just happened.

He continued to walk down the roads of the street finding little things like that all over and helping as he waited for the one he knew he would find here so he simply kept wandering the city waiting patently for them to show themselves. But as he was walking down a back ally with a pile of gang members bodies lying in a pile he looked up and saw her fly over him. He then began to follow her; he left the city and began to walk in the direction she was heading. Even as she disappeared on the Horizon he followed her exactly knowing where she was going.

Vailen woke up and walked on deck and was surprised to see land already. It had been several day’s since they left port but it should have taken them over two weeks to get to Chenera. Chen walked beside Vailen and smiled.

“I hope you don’t mind but I know a few spells and allow for fast travel.”

Vailen looked at Chen and was surprised to see him dressed so formally.

“Um, what’s going on?”

Chen bowed his head.

“Forgive me your highness but it was necessary. Oh yes, I know who you are. You see, I was sent my my master, Lord Nu Xiong, to find you and bring you here. I am Chen Tzu, Nu Xiongs master spy and tracker. I must say you were a hard one to find. Since word of your disappearance I’ve been trying to find you. Now, I have completed my mission and I am home.”

Vailen just sighed and turned back to look at the shore. He knew a day would come where he would be caught, but not like this. Still, he wanted to see Chenera so he might as well play along and see what this Lord Nu Xiong wanted.

Once the ship docked there was a contingent a guards waiting for them. Chen rode down on his horse. He looked up and smiled as Vailen rode down on top of Tazor. Vailen was wearing a Grey uniform with red trimming. On top of his head was a simple silver crown. Around his neck was a pendant with the symbol of the Lunar Imperial Family.

‘I never knew he carried a vortex bag with him. Those are very rare and expensive. Heh, you can put anything in those bags and it will never be full. Very handy to have. I also never expected him to have his Royal Regalia as well. At any rate he looks the inch of Royalty, though it did take me a while to convince him to put it on once I learn he had it,’ thought Chen.

Minutes later they left and were on their way to the Capital. It would take several hours to reach the city.

Meanwhile Nu Xiong read the report from Chen and smiled. He quickly sent word to to Liu Lu, the Prince would arrive in a few hours. He made certain that Liu Lu would get his report with now problems.

Crystal sighed and got out of bed. She opened the door and started wandering around the Tower. After a time she found the bathroom and decided to take a bath. Once the tub was full and the water nice and hot she stepped in and sighed contently. She lathered some soap and slowly began to wash herself. Once clean she got out and used a spell to dry her fur. She went back to her room and looked around at the different cloths. She soon found a nice looking blue silk dress that was cut on the sides and legs and matching blue cuffs that covered her middle finger and draped below her arms and connected above her elbows. She found some fruit and some water and sat down to eat while she waited. While she ate she practiced with some spells. There was one spell in particular that she wanted to try but knew she was not ready for that. The Lunar Whip would have to wait till she got stronger.

****************************************************************************************************

The Daemons were at a loss on how to deal with the situation. For every regiment they sent out most were either killed or changed into the creatures that were attacking them. The strange being that controlled them appeared to be indestructible. The only good news that they got was that the creatures were sending raiding parties into Devas territory. It was clear that the being was trying to take control of everything. Realizing that they could not face the invasion on the coast it was decided to pull back and set up defensive line away from the coast. Small units would remain behind to slow the invaders advance. The Daemons prayed that they could hold the invaders back till they could come up with something.

Orders were quickly sent out. Word had quickly spread to most nations, including the Devas nations, Lunar and the Confederation. The Daemons were retreating. Not since the Age of Destruction had the Daemons ever retreated from a fight.
