Well, I beleive it was put out "No fantasy creatures, such as unicorns, pegasi, manticores..." but we're talking about legend, myth, and local lord. Vampires, Were-wolves, Fiends. Those seem to be a little closer to what we can do, as long as you can trace it to a local animal geneous.

As for the height, when I created Labrn, I was big into WWE (was WWF) and my favorite wreslter "Undertaker" was just entering the wrestling entertainment. When it came time to custom a character, I would use Undertaker as the base model and then adjust to create Labrn in the game. Thus, Labrn kept the Undertaker's height, a freightening 6'10"!

Though, in storyline, we shrink him down to 6'4", but he grows back to 6'10" when he enters his final form.

Er, Gantros... sorry to break this to you, but since I'm taking care of the translation of Scarlett's comic I can tell you that the mini-goyles that help Scarlett in her everyday life aren't exactly "creatures" as much as they are animated constructs, more akin to the living statues of Hogwarts than to Goliath's clan. Not sure if in Bon Bon's world there are supernatural beings proper (unless one counts Scarlett, of course Very Happy )

Alright, I concede to the fact that supernatural beings are not allowed in PBB. However, by your own admission, you have referred to Scarlett's gargoyles as animated constructs, implying that supernatural forces do exist (i.e. magic), and therefore the magical aspect of my character can be considered valid. I will make adjustments to species to be simply a bat like Scarlett, as that is the closest to my vision, specifically a hybridization of the flying fox (large wings, smallish ears) and the vampire bat (less pronounced muzzle, fangs), basically the same features as Scarlett with huge wings and smaller ears.

oh...

I'm really sorry for having to chill out your enthusiasm, but I agree with Martin and Ashton, since I've already estabilished some rules for the avatars. It wouldn't be fair to do an exception after many have modified their avatar, just like Drake has.
Drake was a pegasus, but I had him remove the wings. Sad
Bon Bon is not a fantasy and there are no mythological animals.
Scarlett is a half-vampire, half vampire bat and half true Vampire.
Her gargoyles are simple stone beings, not living, that she animates and dominates with her power at her leisure.
Sibilla... is not a spell-slinging, lightning-throwing mage, but a sensitive, she can brew potions and do spells only with the necessary preparation (by using ingredients and rituals), not with a hand gesture. For the remainder there are no other characters gifted with magic powers.
In PBB are only quoted beings set in the Victorian era such as the vampire or Frankenstein's monster... Think of the movie Van Helsing or of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. So no anachronisms.
Therefore I have to ask you kindly to choose a really existing species, in order to avoid going out of theme.
I rather liked the idea of doing a bat for you, there are also bats with small ears Wink

Ok here's my totally revised avatar creation:

My Avatar is an amalgalm of character traits I've always been fascinated with.

Name: Gantros Obscura
Gender: Male (hetero)
Age:mid to late-twenties (no one in Bon Bon knows for sure)
Species: Bat, Flying Fox (small ears, gigantic wings)/Vampire Bat (less pronounced muzzle, and fangs) Hybrid

Build: muscular build on the athletic side (less muscular than the example image above, more lanky)
Height: 6'4"
Wingspan:
Occupation: Gambler, occultist (scientist), and amateur filmmaker
Description: I'll post various example images of aspects I'm looking for

1.) Clothes
I'm looking for the Victorian goth style used by the Darkstalkers character Jedah, minus the wings (replaced with the style of the above Goliath pic), oversized hands, and the elbow spurs smoothed out. This image has the body type I'm looking for as well.

2.) Appearace
2a.) Waist length silvery white hair

2b.) A face masque. This is meant to convey a sense of mysteriousness (i.e. Phantom of the Opera). Gantros is actually quite handsome under the mask, unlike his Phantom inspiration. Note: I would like the 'horn' in the center of the mask reduced and flattened against the forehead, as well as this symbol engraved on the crown portion of the reduced mask. The symbol is an icelandic rune known as the 'Helm of Awe', meant to inspire fear, invincibility, and/or protection against corruption. I prefer the last meaning.

2d.)capable of folding wings over shoulders like a cloak, this is an homage to my favorite cartoon, Gargoyles

3.) Accessories
Has a small, locked iron bound book chained to his left side at all times. It is believed by the populace to contain magic spells and enchantments, but in reality, it contains mathematical equations (for calculating table odds), mechanical schematics, and other scientific ideas. On his right ring finger is a large ring with a black stone. Finally, he has a necklace with a simple, octagonal stone with an engraving of a bat on it as well as chinese symbols symbolizing luck and fortune. The bat is considered lucky in certain Asian cultures. This is to further add to his mystique.

Personality: When in public settings, he is completely calm and collected, almost cold. In private however, he is very passionate about science and technology, anticipating the hours he'll spend in his basement lab, along with his private film studio. His experimentation may extend to sexual pursuits as well, think a less ludicrous version of John Carradine's character in the Woody Allen film 'Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)'.

Life in Bon Bon:
Arriving in Bon Bon with only his 'grimoire', ring, and necklace, Gantros Obscura went on the biggest winning streak in the town's history. It was believed he used magic to change fate, but in fact, Gantros is an outcast academic, frustrated by the inflexible dogma of university, decided to pursue his intellectual interests in Bon Bon under a new identity, Gantros Obscura. Untempted by spirits or feminine charms, he used his winnings acquired through mentally calculating odds (Bon Bon's first cardcounter?) at table games to buy interest in several Bon Bon establishments, becoming very wealthy. He is currently overseeing the construction of his estate, a white tower, on a cliff overlooking Bon Bon.
After attending a movie of Delight Castle's Betty, he has taken interest in both filmmaking and the women of Bon Bon, having recently purchased a couple small rooms in the Delight Castle's basement to convert into a film studio and stage. It is rumored he is also constructing a even larger, private studio in the basement of his tower...

First, so that we are clear that no anachronisms are being committed here, is that Gantros is a scientist, much like Victor Frankenstein, Dr.Jekyll, and other, similar Victorian-era science characters. He has a taste for theatricality, and thus creates a facade of mysticism, when in fact it's science. His mannerisms and clothes reinforce this, the kind of aristocratic, goth flair of Stoker's Dracula, while the man (or bat) underneath is pure science. Truly Dr.Frankenstein and Mr.Dracula (pun intended).

Second, the species I've chosen is a hybrid of flying fox and vampire bat, hybrids of related species are allowed, aren't they? It's not like it's a mermaid or a flying monkey, is it? I feel that the hybridization I've chosen will give me the facial and physical features I seek, namely huge wings that can drape over the shoulders like a cape/cloak and smallish ears (flying fox), and a smaller muzzle and fangs (vampire bat).

Finally, with all the interest in the Zone flash that I have spearheaded, I think that it fits to have my chacter be an amateur filmmaker, perhaps in possession of that camera that those pig brothers lost in issue #2. It would stand to reason that in order to recoup some of the winnings the Castle lost to Gantros, Betty would be open to freeing up some storage space in the basement for an amateur film studio, to indulge in Gantros' hobby (and subsequently make a lot of money off it).

I was curious where you had gone off too.

Did you catch up on the Card Game? I have a sample game, but I havn't updated the rule changes I came up with during the sample game.

I'm going to make little prototypes (no pictures, on them, just names and abilities) for a real live game amongst myself and a few volunteers over here.

I've got some ideas on how to make it multiplayer. The easiest way would be to change the locations, such as making the main ones Square, or you simply have your characters & sidekicks in front of you, only placing them on inner locations, showing the small side rooms getting filled.

Ah, yes, well the fur color is a slate gray, with a tinge of blue to it. the eyes would be piercing blue, but these would be rarely seen in public, what with the face masque obscuring them.

Um, Gantros? Despite what Batman would have us believe, masks have eyeholes... unless, of course, you want to go around slamming into walls or using echolocation continuously (which wouldn't endear you to the local canine population, IMHO) Very Happy Very Happy

As a scientist, it's entirely possible that my character invented one-way mirrored lenses that appear to be opaque. It would also fit my bat-like character not liking well lit areas. Also, as an amateur filmmaker, he could have also invented them, initially for himself, for his stars to protect their eyes from the harsh studio lights.

Granted, the average height then was shorter than it is now. But for Xeb, bears are big. Especially Kodiaks.

Gantros, you say you're a filmmaker, but I would like to know with what tool, seriously, given that in PBB's issue #2 the brothers Lumiere in furry version (two french poodles) lose the one and only prototype of film-using cinematographe, with which I opened this topic.
http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3428

According to the original script for PBB that should be the one and only movie machine, there is no other... That is why I drew the true model without inventing another non-existing one. Try looking for a picture of a similar object, truly existed, built at the time or beforehand (the date is the 1895) and add the photo, only in this way I could in the future draw your character in the work and quote the inventor of said object.

I had thought of that myself but did'nt feel it was my place to say anything. I do have a suggestion on how you could remedy this conflict, if either of you are intrested, Vanessa and Gantros.

Alright, I found something that would fit, the Kinetograph and Kinetophone.

Kinetograph: a camera (the first to use perforated film stock) for producing subjects for the Kinetoscope peepshow machine. Developed over several years, and shooting commercially-used films from 1893.

Kinetophone: Kinetoscope with Phonograph cylinder audio player built in and earphones, 1895

Kinetoscope: 1. Kinetoscope - interior view. The 35 mm film travelled continuously over a bank of rollers, each picture being viewed briefly through a narrow slot in the revolving shutter

Here's a link to the bio of the inventor, William Kennedy-Laurie Dickson:

My source material is from http://www.victorian-cinema.net/machines.htm

If this option proves unusable due to the Edison references, another possibility is the Eidoloscope (formerly known as the Panoptikon), invented by the Lathams, who lost the patents to their invention mainly due to the Woodville's sons, Grey and Otway, being renowned hedonists, rather appropriate for PBB. Here's a pic of their invention, and a link to their bio.

Other than getting a Royal avatar from Vanessa. You can submit an avatar you have to Ronald.

I had an avatar of my character Labrn from another artist friend of mine until Vanessa finished my Avatar/Pin-Up, in which case I had it switched to that since she makes me look so handsome. Cool

It could also be worked into the main story, with William as the 4th player. It's kinda hard to believe he has gotten over his gambling obsession completely.
