Hi guys and gals.
I have been accused many times to be a know-it-all by family and friends. In a positive way, of course. And here is your change to ask me anything.
You can for an example ask about my life, my country, my asetro religion (the old nordic gods), textiles and crafts, art, history, filosofy or what ever your brilliant minds can come up. Anythings free to ask.

Hope to hear from you. Very Happy

Hehe. I bet you didn't think I'd know that one since I'm neither english nor american. Razz
"A raven and a writing desk are alike because they can both make notes, usually very flat."

We have something like those in my country aswell.
What do you get if you cross a porcupine with a snake? Barb wire!
What do you get if you cross a woman with a giraffe? Dracula's wet dream!

I... had no idea that actually had an answer to it, lol! I always thought it was just a silly riddle thought up for the purpose of the Alice in Wonderland story, which is the only place I have ever known it to exist.

O.O

Sure! I'd be happy to.

Asetro believers are people who believe in the Old Norse gods such as Thor, Odin and Loki. The form of Asetro found today is not a direct extension of the Vikings' faith. However, there is a religious revival and reinterpretation.
Most believers feels like they have always felt like asetro believers before they converted, myself included, and therefore the conversion leads to no sharp breaks with the past live. For me it just meant that I finally had a name for how I’ve always felt and my thoughts about life in general. It was like coming home.
A large part of the ancient Scandinavian religion is the belief in ourselves, and that you have to provide for your own happiness. There is no god / gods that hold his hand over you and that helps if you have remembered to be good, just as there is no God who punishes you if you've been bad. You are responsible for your life, to be the best person you can be and to raise your children to be morally good and wise members of society.
One thing I find very important in this religion is tolerance of other faiths. Life values are Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Industriousness, Self-Reliance and Perseverance. The family is greatly valued and honored. We reject any form of discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, language, nationality, race, sexual orientation, and so on.

There are a few thousand Asetro believers in Denmark, organized into 35 groups.
Asetro is a term for a particular form of neo-paganism. Asetro covers belief in and worship of the Old Norse gods and forces of nature.

The ritual, called blót, is, however, as the central hub for Asetro.
Blót is an Old Norse word meaning sacrifice. Linguistically, the word has not anything with the word blood to do, but maybe more with the Gothic word "blotan" which means "to worship".
The Asetroar hold blót least four times a year during the equinoxes (spring and autumn) and solstices (summer and winter). This is in conjunction with the Sun's orbit.
The number of blót participants ranging from one to 50. At the blót ritual participants most often lines up in a circle with a bonfire in the middle.

The leader of the ritual, called Gode (male) or Gydje (female), goes around the circle and invoke various Gods and demi-gods. The leader then closes the circle and it is now considered sacred and only children are allowed to step outside the circle. Standing in this circle a horn of mead is going around in the direction of the sun, and participants can recite prayers, make vows, sing or recite from the Old Norse writings. You can either drink the mead or you can pour it on the ground and thereby share it with the gods and the demi-gods.
Finally the leader will break the circle and participants lights bonfires and enjoy themselves.
Every one can be a ritual leader as long as they know how.

The purpose of the community is partly to cultivate the divine forces to work on the general acceptance of the old Nordic worshiping and offering religious services to the community members - such as weddings and funerals.
There are also rituals involving children. Such as Knee-sitting, where a man accepts the father role of a child and the child is accepted by the community and are given caretakers in case of its parents death. The child is not automatically an asetro believer by rituals or by parents. They are free to choose their own paths in life.

The gods are like you and me, only divine. They have their mistakes too and we humans are allowed to laugh at them.

Here is some links to the different gods and other things: http://www.odinsvolk.ca/O.V.A.%20-%20GODSundGODDESSES.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norse_mythology

There are so much more but this is the most interesting when you have to short it down.
Feel free to ask for more or if you just want to discuss something. Very Happy

If they are real alfabetic runes then yes. If they are of gods or the likes then maybe. Cool

That was really cool to read!

I had no idea that there was still those kinds of gatherings anymore, of course over here in the US it's probably pretty rare because anyone doing them might be labeled as cultist or something like that.

You should take a picture of the pendant Rune.

I have heard a couple different answers for this one.
"Poe wrote on both" and "both have inky quills"

As for a question for Miss. Scorpia.
You mentioned your religion is a newer, more modernized version of the Norse faith. (paraphrasing here, I realize It's much more complicated and deeply spiritual than that.) So, being partially descended from the Norse people myself, I am rather curious about how different your faith is from the old ways. Obviously you've gotten rid of the raiding way of life that was such a major part of their culture, but what else? You've gotten me very curious, and that doesn't happen very often anymore.
