Memorial Day

I know Memorial Day is a few days away but being a veteran and a paramedic I wanted to write something from different perspectives.


Military:We are the sword and shield of a nation.Our paths were different when we joined but we our goal was the same.As a shield we defend the people from the merciless onslaught of our enemies' attacks.Like a shield we may become beaten,bloodied,and cracked but we will not falter in our commitment from day 1.As a sword,we are peace through bloodshed.We don't wish nor want to be unleashed but sometimes we become a necessity.Our edge will always remain sharp and vigilant no matter where we go.


Police,Fire,Medic:The military may be the sword and shield but the police are the armor of the nation guarding against internal threats.They bring peace by bringing our internal enemies to justice.Firefighters tread to go where angels,demons,and devils fear to tread saving us from fiery graves. As medics we are the wings and arms of mercy.We are the embodiments of the angels bringing hope and comfort when someone is clinging to life with despair around them.

Civilian:You're the armorers of the nation.Your praises and prayers can repair our damage.Listen to our stories,look at our photos,and if you can say thank you to those who wear a uniform.Say a prayer to those who sacrificed everything so you may enjoy your time with your families.And most importantly never forget that those who've fallen past and present did so knowingly and with the hope that nobody has to endure what they had to.
